Don't Choke!
To You, With LoveHe could almost swear the unfamiliar scent of her is still clinging on the passenger seat. It’s not unpleasant, but very different from Kiko’s. Kiko likes leathery, spicy perfumes with a hunch of dark musk mixed into almost stinging sweet. It gives her a playful almost edgy and gender-neutral scent. It took him a while to get used to it. Sohee’s, on the other hand, is warm and not too sweet, yet still feminine. Gosh, even her scent is almost evading, bland and shy, yet he is aware of it. He hasn’t neglected it, but that’s because it hasn’t completely faded yet. But why should it? It was only yesterday that she has been sitting in this car with him, but it almost felt like a week has passed. He doesn’t even know why he took the same car, to begin with, since when has he been desperate to be the entertainment of others? His mechanic promised him it would be the first thing he would do tomorrow morning, but only just tomorrow. It doesn’t bug him really as he has two splendid other cars to drive meanwhile, yet he had this particular key in his hand, and only realizes it once he actually saw the lights blink and hears the click of the unlocking doors.
“So…” she has awkwardly started a conversation, and he could vividly remember it all,
“You kept the red…?”
She sounds surprised, but her gleeful grin pretty much gives her away. She likes the color on him. He looks mischievous but also fervid.
“Oh yes, my girlfriend really loves the color. So I thought I would keep it for a bit.”
She mouths a breathy, “Oh” but he continues his story unfazed. “Not sure if she likes it because of the story, or really the hair color.”
“You T-O-L-D her?!” Sohee gasps and falls open.
“Of course I did,” he sounds proud, but then adds a little faster and quieter. “Well except for, you know, the kiss.” The thing she wasn’t supposed to mention again. Another long sustained single vowel escapes .
“You didn’t, huh?” his grin is almost wicked. “But it’s probably better, I mean you are crazy an-“
He never finishes the sentence as she playfully boxes against his upper arm and he is too busy exaggerating his reaction to the non-exiting injury.
“Not a biggie, you have kept your sensitive details for yourself as well!” she jibes back, still a little pouting. That’s how the bickering started, naturally. Almost as if they have always known each other and have been friends for a long while. Yet there still was the excitement of getting to know someone new. Despite her shy appearance, she had some great remark thrown at him that sometimes even left him flustered.
It annoys him now, she is underselling herself. She shouldn’t look like a plain-Jane, because why would he notice and care for an average person? It confuses him, but luckily his mind is forced to pay attention to the driveway in front of him. Only one car beside his rests on the guest's slot. And judging by the tasteless latest Lexus model it must be Taeyang's. Which means Seungri is still missing. It also means that there are no other surprise guest present, not a given, Seunghyun often gets carried away with his wine-degustation-evenings turned to parties. Automatically it makes his shoulder shrink and his whole body relax. It’s always good not to be the last to arrive but, he would have preferred it this time to be different. He would rather answer questions about his car once and then be done with it. Well, at least it means he can drop the car off by his garage owner of trust on the way back home, and sleep in tomorrow morning. He hasn’t driven her home directly, maybe he should have. But he has stated he would take her to a drive and he always has been a man who stands by his words.
They were randomly cruising through the charming enlightened city Seoul by night, nowhere in particular.
The shrill but husky laughter of his friends pierces the night. They were obviously sitting outside on the porch, and he already has a vague idea what they were laughing about. Rolling his eyes he makes his way up to meet them.
“Don’t choke, it would be a waste of wine.” He muses gloomily while taking his spot.
Taeyang shoots him a look of concern, unsure of how to take his mood, but Seunghyun is as unfazed as one can be and non-gallantly continues.
“I suppose your surprise for Kiko hasn’t ended in your pants I mean as you fancy.”
Seunghyun is in many ways unique but he has a terrible habit of speaking terribly swollen when he drinks. He should have skipped today's wine-gathering. Not that this comment of affectional teasing really got him, but he doesn’t like to be the main entertainer of the evening, and clearly his car gives them plenty. His hope, therefore, lays completely on Seungri since Daesung is still skiing with his significant other. But his hope is soon to be burst by non-other than Taeyang himself.
“You haven’t missed anything, we just opened the first one, here,” Taeyang hands him a glass filled with red liquid. Yes finally, because he is sure he isn’t making it through this evening without a proper amount of per mil. Especially after hearing the very next statement.
“Seungri can’t make it either, he met the y red hair from China again.”
It’s official now, the urge to chug or drown in wine today. Instead, he squints his eyes trying to remember her name. Wasn’t it, “Jia?” He wouldn’t be surprised if he is wrong, even though he is usually rather good in memorizing names but then again Seungri had a lot of y something women. And a lot of y something women stories, one of those he has hopped to hear today to divert the attention. “I thought she said she is just interested in business?” Jiyong asks curiously, and more in a matter of fact. But also in the mild hope of changing the topic for good now.
“Well, either her imagination of business and appropriate things to do in office is different from ours or our youngster changed her mind.”
Seunghyun grins amusedly, while making sure all the glasses are brimful even though this clearly isn’t the fine and appropriate way to drink wine. Before he wipes his eyes from the tears that have built up from laughing too hard from before.
“Nice try, Ji, but what happens with yo-“
He never manages to finish that sentence because his eyes saw Jiyongs car again and a snort of laughter came out of his mouth.
“It's Seunghyun’s second, obviously.", Taeyang clarifies, "and you don’t have to speak about it if you don’t want to.” He clearly tries very hard to keep a stoic, pensive face despite Seunghyun cracking up next to him. He appreciates his failing efforts, the high pitched “speech” betrayes him and is his downfall. However, watching two grown adult men trying to suppress their giggles is somewhat amusing even for the victim of their jeer.
“Of course he wants to, else he wouldn’t have brought that car.”
Granted he feels a little caught, but he brushes it off. It’s his favorite, he explains defiantly but neither of his two friends is really fooled by it. “Who needs enemies if one has friends like these”, he muses.
“I haven’t asked her yet, she wasn’t even there. Concerns towards my relationship and the outcome are there for uncalled and unnecessary. In terms of my car, however, it got into an unfortunate confusion with the luniac I told you.”
“Ohh-,“ both call out in union before two very different responses are blurted out.
“Oh, the dye Lady?” Taeyang asks simultaneously with Seunghyuns, “The Kimichi Crazy?”
Jiyong nods and takes some of the chips.
Now Seunghyun coughs a little and clears his throat suddenly becoming all serious and back to business manners.
“Do you want me to sue her? I mean she sounds like a stalker or so, are you sure you are alright?”
Seunghyun is one of his oldest friends, and also his -, “you know we could get lots of money from this case, and it’s also a bit of publicity for your new launching clothing brand. I already see the headlines >>Fashion addicted goes crazy over Kwon Junior Drag8n Line.<<” - Lawyer.
