Chapter:

         Bonus.

Next morning when Haejin woke up there was an unknown weight residing on her waist. It was not really heavy given the fact that she could barely feel it, but it was still there and was heavy enough to make its presence known even to her sleepy brain. She let out a confused, sleepy whimper before wiggling her body slightly to shuck it off, but of course, failed in doing so. Finally giving up after few tries, she buried her face further into her pillow (which was way more comfortable and nice smelling than her usual one) to continue her peaceful sleep and brought her arms up to wrap around it. It was then when she noticed that the pillow she was trying to wrap her arms around was moving. Confused and horrified at the same time, she begrudgingly forced herself to abandon her peaceful sleep and opened her eyes while trying to push the sleep away from them. The first thing that she noticed after her hazy mind cleared up a little bit was the hard chest that was clad in the black wife beater which suspiciously looked like it belonged to her husband. The second thing she noticed was the masculine and addicting scent that was invading her senses and finally the last thing that she brought herself to notice was the strong arms that were securely holding her figure in a warm embrace; she was freaking cuddling with Baekhyun in her sleep while his upper body was covered only by a thin wife beater that left nothing to the imagination. Letting out a startled noise, Haejin quickly pulled her face away from the crook of her husband’s neck and placed her hands on his bare shoulders to push herself away from him with a thundering heart and a scarlet blush adorning her cheeks.

What the hell?

Haejin really had no idea that how she ended up like this. The last thing, she remembered was the peaceful, dark sky and the musk of nature as they made their way through the empty roads back to the hotel.

I must have slept at the way back.

It would be precise to think that Baekhyun had not wanted to wake her up and has carried her to the room, but why? He could have just wakened her up when they reached the hotel. Why go through all the trouble of carrying her inside? Knowing her brothers-in-law, she knew that her husband had to dodge many teasing questions directed at himself to carry her to the room. To some possibility she could consider that he was being nice and considerate still, what she didn’t get was- how the hell did she ended up all cuddled against him; not that she was complaining. It was just that once there was a time where they didn’t even share a bed and now they were here sharing their body heats. She just wished that it was not her who had initiated the contact in her sleep or else she would be extremely embarrassed.

This feels so nice, though.

It felt nice indeed. Baekhyun’s embrace was so warm and protective. She felt safe in it; she felt taken care of. It was the feeling that she had never experienced before. She had never felt so safe in anyone’s embrace, not even her mother’s. The hold of his arms around her body was firm, yet so gentle; just like his true personality. At first glance, he seemed to come off as cold and closed off; like no one can crack the hard shell that he had made around himself. It was his exterior, his way of working, his way of interacting and dealing with things, it was his way of achieving his goals and aims, it was the part of his personality; it was his firmness. But as time passed by and they spent more time together she got to discover his true subtly gentle self hidden beneath that shell; covered with so many layers that one cannot even recognize it once it comes to the surface. He always cares, but he always acts like he doesn’t. He feels pain too, but he hides it away. He feels tired, but he just ignores it. That was how Baekhyun is; intriguing and mysterious with so many hidden secrets. Her husband thinks that no one notices his pain, his extraordinary effort, his sleepless nights, his hard work and sadly that was the truth- no one notices; not until they know him well like his brothers. It took her three months to notice that and she was sure it would take ages for the people outside the castle to understand and appreciate him. It was just so unfair. The people of the both Kingdoms didn’t even realize that their peaceful sleep at night takes away someone else’s; they simply didn’t care, at least that was what she thought.
