The Marionette
Description
Yongguk is a top investigator. Jongup, his right-hand man and best buddy, is concerned about Yongguk’s non-existent dating life and thus, introduces him to this handsome young man named Zelo. Yongguk finds himself falling deeply for the young man, but later discovers that his love life is interfering with his job. Both he and Jongup are given this difficult task of solving a kidnapping case. The Puppeteer, as the kidnapper likes to call himself, leaves a set of confusing clues for them, together with a hauntingly beautiful marionette at the place of the kidnapping incident. They have to find the Puppeteer before he murders all his victims.
Daehyun and Youngjae work on a separate, yet similar case – finding a criminal named Kim Himchan, a divine and ravishing man who lures women from nightclubs and bars and kidnaps them. The two investigators sometimes find their growing feelings for each other meddling with their jobs, leading to some very dangerous choices to be made.
Foreword
She was lovely. I pulled back an eyelid with a gloved hand and shone a torch into her glassy eye. She had beautiful baby blue eyes that I thought would have twinkled merrily if she weren’t an inanimate doll. I stood back and looked around me; Jongup had gone up to investigate the other rooms. I frowned as I caught sight of a small, white piece of paper neatly folded and deliberately placed on a small coffee table not too far off from the doll. I hesitated before going over and picking it up. Normally, I wouldn’t have touched it, but it seemed too out of place, too prominent for it not to be intended to be read. I unfolded the paper and peered into the fine print:

“Jongup,” I called as I hastily backed out of the room and ascended the stairs, all the while not letting my eyes stray away from the confusing mix of numbers, letters and symbols. A rush of adrenaline and excitement overtook me - this was going to be a very interesting case.
