And to All, A Good Night

'Twas the Night Before Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the dorm

Not a creature was sleeping; I was tired and worn;

The stockings were taped to the chimney quite snug,

In hopes that my members wouldn’t give them a tug;

Donghae was jumping on top of a bed,

While visions of broken things danced in my head;

Sungmin in a sweater and Siwon in a cap—

Zhou Mi was complaining their fashion was crap.

When somewhere in the kitchen there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from my room to see what was the matter.

Away down the hall I flew like an ace,

Tripped over a turtle and fell on my face.

The bruise on my head and my pain-swelling side,

Gave a luster of midnight to objects inside,

When, what to my crestfallen eyes should appear,

But little Ryeowook, with a face full of tears,

With an appetizer plate, so empty and bare,

I knew in a flash he had dropped it right here.

As strong as Kangin’s my anger it came,

I whistled, I shouted, I called them by name;

“You dropped it?! The snacks? The cookies and sweets?

The mochi! The chocolate! What’ll Shindong-ie eat?!

To the closet you go! To the room down the hall!

Now sweep it up! Sweep it up! Sweep it up, all!”

As mad ELFs that before a comeback stage fly,

When they meet with their idols, mute and tongue-tied,

So out to the table thirteen of us flew

With the large Christmas turkey and the damaged treats, too.

We set the table nicely while cracking some jokes,

Heechul barked orders, which I soon revoked.

As I fell in my chair and was spinning around,

Down the hallway the last two guys came with a bound.

Henry was wearing a brand new red coat

On which he had spilled some Jell-O and Coke.

And Yesung, the very definition of grace,

Had somehow slopped food all over his face.

The boys—how they laughed! Smiles bright as the sun!

Then they tackled Kibum, in the name of “good fun.”

My tight little mouth was drawn up like a bow,

And I shot words off my lips like darts at a foe;

“Guys, please be careful! Violence is bad!

If he throws out his back, SM will get mad!”

The plates were set and the dinner was hot,

Hangeng gave a prayer that included his pot,

The room was jammed with people, tables and chairs,

Kyuhyun threw stuffing into Hyuk’s hair;

A flash of my eyes and a shake of my head,

Soon gave him to know he had something to dread.

We spoke many words and went straight to our meals,

And ate all the fixings despite how we’d feel,

Then sometime around twelve we expressed our last joys,

They dashed off to bed, while I set out gifts for the boys.

I placed the last present and gave a tired yawn;

I made a silent prayer to sleep hopefully past dawn.

But the members did exclaim as I walked past their doors,

“Merry Christmas, Teuk-hyung! We’ll wake you ‘round four!”

Merry Christmas! Peace! ^^
