‘My pretty daughter, I buy you new clothes. Look! It’s pretty right? It has cute bunny on it. You like bunny right?’

Jinyoung stare at him mom blankly.

Jinyoung can’t find the right word to describe his mother.

His mother start being like this since his father left them both.

That day his mother crying painfully, Jinyoung hugs his mom and crying with her.

‘Mommy, please don’t cry.’ He once said.

His mother doesn’t stop crying but hugs him tightly.

Since that day, his mother treats him differently.

She throws away Jinyoung’s old toy and clothes.

She buys the new one to Jinyoung all with rabbit on it.

She paints Jinyoung’s room with pink color and started to call him her daughter.

She’s doting Jinyoung very much.

She started to hug him, cradle him, reading him a book and kiss him good night.

‘It’s pretty.’

Jinyoung said quietly.

His mom claps and smiling so brightly.

He doesn’t know why he’s suddenly become a daughter, or why everything he has must have rabbit on it but seeing his mom smiling just make him wiling to be anything just to bring smile to his mom.

December 2004

‘Mark, please just do the task with him. You must do it together with a friend.’

His teacher asks him nicely.

‘Why he’s wearing pink skirt? He’s a boy! Moreover, it has bunny on it! I hate bunny. I hate him!’

Mark throws his paints to Jinyoung and left.

Jinyoung try to wipes the paint from his skirt.

‘Jinyoung, are you okay?’ The teacher rushes to him.

Jinyoung nods slowly but still busy wiping his skirt which now stained with blue paint.

What should he do? His mom will be sad to know his skirt is stained.

His teacher sighs loudly but then smiled,

‘Want me to help you? Teacher will wash it clean.’

Jinyoung looks at his teacher and nods eagerly.

‘Jinyoung, you can wearing everything to school but not skirt. You’re a boy so you must use pants.’

‘I know.’

His teacher looks at him confusedly.

‘If you know, why you’re still wearing skirt to school? It’s not the first time you’re wearing it. I already told you last time right?’

‘My mom said I’m her daughter so I must wear skirt.’

Jinyoung still remember the unreadable expression his teacher made after he said that.

‘Yah! What are you doing to my bag?’

Mark shouts so loudly that makes the other student looks at him.

Mark snatches his bag from a girl whose now look at him with fear.

‘What is this?’

‘I.. I write your name on it. I think you’ll like it.’

The girl offers him a shy smile.

‘Oh god. It so ugly I can’t stand it.’

Mark walks away and brings his bag with him.

He is about to dump his bag to trash bin when a hand stop him.

‘Mark, calm down. What makes you this upset?’

Mark looks at his best friend for a while before sighing.

‘I see too much ugly things today.’

‘Mind to tell me?’

‘Sure.’

Jinyoung come back to his class after wearing back his skirt.

The class is empty but there is a boy sitting in his chair.

The boy looks up when he feels Jinyoung beside him.

‘Uh, hi. I was.. Uh, I make this for you. You can’t make your task earlier because of my friend, right?’

Jinyoung look at the rabbit charm in the boy hands.

‘It’s pretty.’

He murmurs quietly.

Jinyoung takes the charm and looks at it fondly.

Jinyoung never know if he truly likes rabbit or actually sick of it.
