Epilogue: The scent of love
Extrasensory“So your extended senses came back?” Taemin asked. They had taken time off to visit the beach. It was Kibum’s suggestion, knowing as he did of Jonghyun’s sea-breeze soul, and together the five of them walked beside the ocean, where Kibum had been telling them the whole story. The wind was cold, but they were warm with being together. All of them whole. All of them as they should be.
“When I pushed Jonghyun-hyung, I kind of burned them out,” Kibum said. “Like when you yell really loud and lose your voice. I thought they were gone for ever.”
“I’m glad you got them back,” Taemin said, and on his other side Jonghyun looked at Kibum and gave a smile that said, me too.
“I heard you, you know,” Minho said. “On the stage. You shouted, Minho, catch him! That’s how I knew to run forward, how I got there in time. I knew I couldn’t have heard you from so far away, over all that noise. You yelled right into my mind.”
“And then you healed hyung,” Taemin beamed. He danced around in front of them. Everyone had known a little part of the story, but now they were all woven together, and they were stronger for it.
“What happens now?” Minho asked. “You saved Jonghyun-hyung, and Mr. Jang is gone. We’re due to start promoting again soon. Is everything going back to normal?”
They were quiet for a few breaths. Kibum wasn’t sure what to say. He had been wondering the same thing. His extended senses were back, and he’d learned how to control them. Their danger was over, but he felt that something was missing.
“I think Kibum has more to do,” Jonghyun spoke up quietly.
Jinki nodded. “The girl?”
Kibum felt a frission of understanding. Of course. The girl from the fansign – the one who had reached for him, blindly seeking what she’d sensed he could do.
