Three: The Resolution (Hoya and Moya)
That Crazy Cat LadyHoya, Moya, and me.
Together forever.
Happily ever after.
Kyungri and Minha exchanged apprehensive glances after examining the handwritten sign on their new neighbor’s door. The text was meticulously spelled out using a bold black marker and dozens of little heart shapes lined the border.
“Hoya?” Kyungri raised a brow.
“Moya?” Minha copied her best friend.
“Those would be my cats,” an unexpected voice from behind made the two jump in surprise. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m late for cuddle time.”
Turning around simultaneously, the girls noticed their neighbor carrying two huge bags. She looked like a mess, as usual, and that absurd pair of shades was still sitting on the bridge of her nose. It made Kyungri wonder if this woman even had a social life to begin with.
“What’s in there?” Kyungri demanded at once.
“Why?” The lady responded in a composed manner.
Rolling her eyes, Kyungri uttered, “Because you’re acting all suspicious. You might be carrying some really dangerous stuff in those bags for all we know.”
“Hah,” the woman let out an adorable chuckle. “Well, yeah, I admit… they could be dangerous… hazardous, even.”
Minha, who hadn’t in the slightest what was going on, appeared genuinely worried, “Should we stay out of your way? We’re sorry, we shouldn’t have probed.”
The woman simply had to laugh at the expression on the girls’ faces, “Okay, okay… you know what, here…”
Kneeling to the ground, she set the bags down as carefully as she could and started ping them.
“Yah! What are you doing? I’m calling security!” Kyungri tried to sound braver than she felt. She was really panicking on the inside.
As soon as the huge packs were completely open, soft mewing could be heard. The woman reached into each of them and pulled out two of the most lovable things the girls have ever seen.
“Omo! Unnie! Cats!” Minha squealed with her hands clasped over .
Smiling, their neighbor lifted the brown cat with perky ears, “This one here’s Hoya. Then she raised the white ball of fluff, “And this one’s Moya.”
