“W-what are you saying Sehun?” Jongin could not digest what he had just heard.

“I said we need a break.” Sehun’s eyes were cold but Jongin could see the warmth in them. His eyes were tearing up. “Just like some time apart.” He turned to go away from him.

“But why?” He grabbed his arm before he would walk any further. Jongin was getting crushed. Something as little as this was killing him slowly.

He pulled his hand away from him. “You know why.”

“Just because I was talking to Kyungsoo?” Sehun kept quiet. “Sehun, you know the truth. We are long over. I don’t like him.” He stepped forward and held Sehun by the shoulders. “I like you.”

“Jongin please, you always say this. You alwa-”

“Jongin, Sehun. You are up in 5. Get ready.” The drama teacher had interrupted them and soon went off.

The silence was burdening for both of them.

“I mean what I say Jongin. Let’s take a break.” And with that he left to get ready.

He raked his fingers through his hair. This was not happening to him. Why did he think that way about him? Kyungsoo was a friend; He was his ex-boyfriend. But now he was only a friend to him. He did not understand why Sehun was like this, why Sehun could not understand. Even these few moments, he felt the heartache, how would he survive days, weeks or maybe months.

He walked towards the stage and took a deep breath, emptying all the sad the thoughts and concentrating on the play. Romeo and Juliet. With a slight twist. Both mains were ,in fact, male.

“You okay?” The teacher asked him, there was concern all over her face.

He immediately faked a bright smile. He wasn’t. “I am good.” And gave her a thumbs before walking on stage.

He was Romeo, and Juliet was...Sehun. The irony. Jongin said all his lines to the best of the abilities and the teacher behind the curtains was grinning pleased with him. Jongin was her star pupil. His execution was always perfect.

On the other hand, Sehun was no less. He assumed the role of Juliet completely. Although it was his first time doing a main role, his confidence was no less than Jongin.

Jongin smiled under his acting. He was happy that Sehun was doing well.

“Oh Romeo, oh Romeo. What are you doing to me? What have you done to me?” He watched Sehun act his lines from the balcony that was made on stage.

“I have sleepless night and I spend days thinking about you.” Jongin heart twisted. Would this be Sehun talking? Was this Juliet?

“My heart becomes childlike when I drown in your thoughts. What is this feeling?” Sehun was doing well, completely emoting everything so well. Jongin could feel the teacher smiling appreciatively at Sehun.

But Jongin was far from the play. He was watching Sehun, his Sehun. He looked so beautiful right now. In her Victorian outfit, his hair done, with the slight make up he used; he was gorgeous.Simple beautiful.

“Juliet.” Jongin stepped out. A bit too early.  Startling everyone.

Sehun stared at him in horror. He came earlier than necessary, making Sehun’s monologue come to an abrupt end; however he made sure no one saw his shock by immediately assuming his character as Juliet and gazed at him lovingly.

“Juliet,” Sehun-ah... “You have the same effect on me.” He spoke from below the balcony, looking up at Sehun as he leaned down from the railing on the balcony. He was taken in his beauty and charm. His heart cringed when he was closer to Sehun. Why did they have to have a break?

“I stand staring at your back when you walk by me.” He spoke each and every word with such emotion. “From your words, you leave me clueless, helpless. I no longer am unable to do anything. Watching you walk away from me,” he got up his kneeling position and walked towards the railing “my heart becomes heavier and darker.”

“Jongin!” The drama teacher hissed from behind the curtains. The sudden change in Jongin startled her as well, and what was worse, none of the words he spoke were from the script.

Jongin had not heard the teacher and continued with his dialogue.

“And in that single instant, I lose all light in me.” His words were being weighted by emotions, his emotions, Jongin’s emotion. He climbed up the balcony, once again starling everyone from the crew.

“Even if I try to find you like this,” He stepped closer to her. “Even if I try to think of you again like this,” he held her hand, “When I try to look at you just one more time,” he laced his fingers with hers “I can’t do anything because I have lost my light.”

And after saying his last words, he kissed a pink Sehun.

“Jongin!” The teacher hissed at him again from behind the curtains. But Jongin could not hear her above the cheering from the crowd.

“I love you Sehun. Please don’t leave me.” He whispered those words to Sehun and Sehun only. Hoping that he would let him near him.

Sehun forgot about the play and smiled at him, responding with one of hisr own kisses, causing a huge uproar amongst the crowd. And the behind the curtains, the drama teacher and sitting down, holding and shaking her head thinking about what her students had done.

“Ssem, don’t worry.” One of her students tried comforting her.

“What do you mean don’t worry? Both of them ruined the play!”

“Well not really. The crowd really loved it. They went ballistic when whatever happened  happened.” He grinned at his teacher as she was now slowly seeing and accepting what was happening.

It was an interval and everyone went for a break either to eat something or for a toilet break. However only Jongin and Sehun were left alone in the makeup room.

And once again, the silence was burdening.

“I meant everything I did out there.” Jongin spoke first.

“You should not have done that.” His voice was cold, but his face his eyes denied all coldness. “What type of an actor are you?” He got up, making Jongin get up with him. “You can’t even assume your role. You don’t think and feel like Romeo.” He stepped closer to him, tearing up. “You are always Jongin, never your role.” And Sehun embraced him. Feeling guilty about what he had said to him earlier.

Jongin’s hands were on his back, rubbing his back slowly in comfort.

“I am sorry Sehun. If it hurts you so much, I will never talk to Kyungsoo again.” His voice was whispered into his ears. “But please don’t leave me. I don’t want a break. I don’t want this. Please.” His voice was heavy. His eyes were becoming heavy.

“I am sorry I said what I said.” Sehun looked at him from the embrace.

“It’s okay. I forgive you.” He replied with a dorky smile holding his head with both of his hand, knowing that Sehun came back to him again. His words made Sehun break into a small chuckle. His tears, that were at the brim of his eyes were now flowing. Jongin rubbed those tears off with his thumbs and pulled closer. He closed his eyes, Sehun closed his, moving closer.

“Ahem...” The couple pulled away when they heard someone clearing their throat, which happened to be their drama teacher.

“We will talk later. I see you are busy.” She gave a smirk and left. Leaving a confused and flustered Sehun and Jongin.
