Simple Urges
Downing Today, Drowning TomorrowIt was another Running Man filming and Song Ji Hyo found herself lazy. Lee Dong Wook who would usually sleep half- is readily in her arms. How warm is it, this kind of life, she says to herself. But somehow she feels out of place sometimes, like she's in a different body - probably because she's with a different man. She realized that every kind of guy that he was with had a different vibe to them. Baek Chang Joo, who stripped her out of her own job made her wander aimlessly without a company, he had this brute aura around him. It made her feel like her life is stricter, more controlled. She was happy with him too, but she didn't understand him - not even close. With Dong Wook, it felt familliar since they were friends. They were friends for a very long time, and she is happy with him too. But Lee Kwang Soo had the most different kind of vibe. He had made her feel so at home and so warm sometimes, she doesn't even want to leave him. Every time she thought of him, and that night, it made her so cold that she had chills in her backbone.
Sometimes even, when she touches Dong Wook's face as he sleeps, she still couldn't feel like she was at home.
It was an early filming, it was only six since they had to be there at eight. She turned off her alarm after spacing out in such a long time, combed her hair in bed and aimed for the shower. Out of the shower, she dressed simply. A shirt with a sweater over, with thicker jeans and ankle high-heeled boots. She complimented herself, she looked good.
When she was making her morning coffee, Lee Dong Wook rolled out of bed and went outside, demanding her for one too. She obliged and passed him a mug of hot coffee, cream and two sugars.
'Running Man?' Dong Wook asked.
'Yeah. Early filming. What are you going to do all day?' She asked, she was reading the news as she drank standing up.
'Nothing, probably going to veg out. But I need to pay my rent though.'
'You're basically already living here.' She says.
'Still, I didn't get the invitation to stay here permanently.' He says. She sighs, kissed his cheek.
'Let's talk about this later, Dong Wook-ah.'
'You're always saying that.'
'And I'm going to say it again. Let's talk about this later. Annyeong.' She bids, smiling. Even Dong Wook couldn't lie, his girlfriend looked good. Even when she's bloated from the drinking from the other night, or maybe even when her dark circles are getting darker. His girlfriend, was beautiful enough for him.
She went about as usual. Ate her McDonald's breakfast, drank her orange juice in the car and went to filming. There was one thing and one thing only that was on her mind, and that was Lee Kwang Soo. Is he getting better? Or is he still like the last time he was? She was praying that he is getting better, and when she actually saw that he was smiling again, it made her day even better. She could even muster the courage to talk to him, and it turns out - he was talking to her first.
'Noona, water.' He says, handing a bottle of vitamin water to her. He sits in front of her, on the floor.
'Thank you.' She says. She takes a big gulp, since she's tired doing things while wearing her winter clothes. 'How have you been, Kwang Soo-ya?' She asked.
'I'm doing alright.'
'You look alright. Healthy.' She says.
He smiles. 'Yeah, I've been eating again.'
'That's good, really good Kwang Soo.' She says. 'Let this noona treat you to something to eat, later. Maybe after the filming, just the two of us.' She thought, if anything, she should at least contribute something for flaking out. She looked at him and she felt nothing but warmth in her heart. That was the Lee Kwang Soo effect, nobody can deny it.
'You really want to do that, noona?' Kwang Soo asked.
She chuckles. 'Yes, why not? Of course I would want that. I'm your noona first, remember?' She says.
She thought maybe, just maybe, they can turn back to where they were before.
After filming, she waited for Kwang Soo for them to go together. They decided to use his car since she came to the filming with her manager. She texted Dong Wook, telling him that she's running a bit late that he should go to sleep without her They went to the snack bar they used to go with each other, when they were still close. The ahjumma wondered why the both of them didn't visit after causing such a drunken mess in her store, isn't like she didn't mind or she wasn't used to it.
'I'll be coming more often now, ahjumma-nim' She says, bowing. She asked her for two bottles of soju, some chicken, dduboki and other street snacks like gizzards.
'I hope you're not planning on getting drunk, noona, since you do have a history of doing that.' Kwang Soo says.
She merely laughs. 'No, I'm not planning on playing drunkard again. But if it's you, then I see no harm to it.'
Being treated like a kid, he had mixed feelings about it. He thought that he was happy that Ji Hyo was treating him like she used to, but somehow he's a bit conflicted as well for her to treat him as a man. It was okay, since he got to see his noona again. She popped the first bottle of soju, but she drinks it slowly and while eating, so it sits better in her stomach.
'How's your life going on Kwang Soo-ya? Anything interesting happened?'
'Nothing, really. But I did find a friend at the gym. We're talking, hanging out.'
'Who is he? Do I know him?'
'If you like reading then, yes, he's a writer. He wrote a couple of best-selling books. His books are under the name Park J. W.'
'Omo. Omo, jinja?' Song Ji Hyo said excitedly. 'It's him? Lee Kwang Soo you have to let me see him. He's not just famous for his books, his books are amazing but he's heavenly. By all means, he's hot.' She says.
'Of course, if you want to.'
She smiles at him, and as always he's thinking, Don't smile at me like that, noona. You're going to get me hurt. He thought. Silently, she placed her hands on top of his - and she was smiling. The regular 'Song Ji Hyo smile' that he liked so much. Who would have thought that he would be in this kind of situation? Weeks ago, he couldn't even look at her and now look at them.
Slowly, he pulled his hands away from her. 'Noona, I don't think you should do that.'
She raises her eyebrows. 'What?'
'Touching me like that.'
'Why? We're used to this.'
'Now I'm not, noona.' He looks around him nervously.
'I thought you were okay by it.'
'Once, yes, I was okay with it. But noona, you scare me sometimes. You scare me of how much you fill the space in my head, so let me tell you this, noona, please don't touch me like that anymore.'
Somehow, when urges turn to reality, things happen. And that's when Song Ji Hyo pulled him in and landed a kiss on his lips.
