000: Prologue

Min likes when things are somewhat organized. For instances, she likes when she can find the outfit she wants to wear in the morning because her shoes are lined in her closet, her shirts are hung, and her pants are folded. She likes when she can find her homework for the week on her desk in the morning. She likes when she can identify people into certain categorizes; such as her mom and sister are categorized under family, Fei Fei is categorized under best friend, and Jackson categorized under boyfriend. What she doesn’t like is when things begin to be somewhat unorganized.

“Mom, where’s my orange crop top!” She doesn’t even have to listen to her mom’s answer as she walks into her younger sister’s room. “Su Ji!” Her voice comes out as a sneer. Her eyes snapping on to her orange shirt being worn by none other than her younger sister. “Give it.” Su Ji glances over her shoulder towards her sister and does the one thing that pisses Min off beyond belief.

She scoffs.

That one little action sends her over the edge of no return. She grabs a hold of her sister’s hair and pulls hard before letting go, in the end she causes her sister to fall to the floor with a bang. “You should’ve just given it.” She snaps as she leans down on her sister—one knee on either side of her body—and with her fingers grazing the end of her crop top: she rips it off. “Wear your own clothes.”

Another incident like this happens at lunch, in the middle of the cafeteria, in front of practically the whole school. “Minnie, it’s not you, it’s me.” Jackson begins as he takes a hold of Min’s hand in his—Meng Jia standing a few feet behind him. “I’ve fallen in love with Jia, I’m sorry. But, it’s over.” He gives Min one last smile before letting go of her hand, and placing an arm over Jia’s shoulder.

“What?” She mumbles as Jia stands up on her toes to press a kiss to his cheek. “You’re breaking up with me, for her?” Min should’ve realized. It’s clear as day now that she thinks about it. Ever since Jia came to Seoul—from wherever part of China she immigrated from—she and Jackson have been quiet friendly. Min brushed it off when she saw them hug in the hallway. She brushed it off when he invited her to have lunch with them. And she brushed it off when she saw him wrap his arm around the girls shoulder.

All of it makes since now.

Jackson spares her once last glance—a solemn smile on his face—before forcing Jia and himself to walk away. That’s when she begins to feel it—feel all of it. The weight of everyone’s eyes on her as she stands there, mouth open in shock, tears threatening to fall—her vulnerability showing to people she doesn’t even know. And they aren’t just staring at her.

They’re glaring.
