Description

Jessica has a past that she doesn't like to think of; but, that doesn't stop her past from catching up with her. For instance, one night she gets terribly drunk, and winds up staying that night at a precinct jail where she meets grouchy detective Jay who's obsessed with a serial killer. One thing leads to another and soon enough Jessica, herself, is wrapped up in helping solve the case. Except, it only leads her to misery.

Foreword

PROLOGUE

I’M stupid, to a degree. I should know by now, after six years of friendship, that betting against Soon Kyu will only bring you long and unendurable pain; which is why it’s not so hard to believe that I’m so drunk I can’t even process half the words that come out of my mouth as I stumble across the streets of Dogok Dong, in Seoul South Korea. To say the least, I should’ve thought the process through before going ahead and agreeing with Soon Kyu that I totally wouldn’t get drunk if I drank four bottles of Soju by myself; key word, should’ve. It’s not named the bottle of ‘firewater’ for nothing.

“Ah, it’s another drunken college student.” I blankly look over my shoulder as I stumble into a wall directly across from me. Two men, one a lot older than the other, each dressed in a white top, black jeans, and dark leather jacket. “Should we bring her in?” The younger one continues.

The older one nods, “Yah!” He shouts at me, causing me to stop where I am, but in doing so I fall straight onto the ground, smashing my own face into the concrete below me. “Ay, really?” The old man mumbles as someone lifts me off the sidewalk.

“She’s bleeding.” The younger one says.

I blink as I try my hardest to bring my hands to my face but in the end it’s kind of hard to do so when you don’t really have control of your body. “Ju Hyun will take care of her when we get to the station.” The younger man nods as he helps me walk to a white car. And then I realize:

I’m being kidnapped.

I scream as loud as possible and break out of the younger’s grip, pushing him to the ground as I try to run my way, as far away from them as possible, but in the end, end up falling straight into a pile of bushes. Maybe they won’t find me if I just stay still. “You are under arrest for being drunk and disorderly, along with assaulting a police officer…” As the older man trailed on with my rights, and began to cuff my hands together. I realized one thing.

This is all Soon Kyu’s fault.
