Her Porcelain Beauty

Description

.

Foreword

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, Who's the fairest off us all?"

"You, my queen, are fairest of all," replied, the mystical mirror.

For a moment, she was satisfied for the mirror spoke nothing but sheer truth... But all the while, her heart was aching. She felt lonely, sad.......unloved.

Lady Belle was the epitome of perfection. She was flawless in every way. Like her name, Belle, she was indeed beautiful. However, that would be only an understatement. She was a winsome mortal made divine. She was the fairest amongst everyone, after all. But although she was beauteous, she was also a woman of chaste heart, mind and soul.

For her saintliness, the divinities acquiesced Lady Belle had be given the window of blessings to possess everything she ever wanted. But she had chosen not to. Taking everything meant being selfish and cold. A very affectionate woman she was. Love for her was selfless. It would cause her nothing but heartache if she'll ever come across knowing a person suffering grief because of her. But being too benign and surrendering, everything was also not a wise choice. Having made up her mind after countless repulses, she had finally settled for one.

To the exclusion of everything, she only desired one... or probably someone. And she longed for that someone more than anything. 'Twas the only wish she desired not to give up. In spite of her divine nature, it's mere fact that she was still human. A human yearning for the sweetest thing.

   Lady Belle yearned for HIM.

   His love, actually.

But his heart already belonged to someone else.

Perhaps, Lady Belle lacked luck. And luck was in all likelihood, what the other woman had.

Yes, of course. The woman who captured the heart of Lady Belle's significant one was no other than Lady Luck.

"How favored and fortunate of you, Luck" uttered her raspy voice, almost a whisper.

Then and there, the veil that had been concealing all her sorrows fell. She was vulnerable like the rest. She cried until it seemed amazing that one person could have so many tears.

--

The church bells were ringing gleefully. A couple who just got married stepped out of the church, hands intertwined with one another. A simple yet elegant, silver wedding ring obviously on each other's fingers, indicating a new pair of lovebirds to share eternity with one another.

And there was Lady Belle, standing by her balcony overlooking the entire city, especially having a good sight of the joyous event that was taking place at the cathedral plaza. She smiled a genuine smile. A feeling of happiness, she unexpectedly felt for them. But as the seconds went by, when she saw him kiss her from afar; the tears she tried to hold back, finally, were allowed to flow.

--

With Belle's very last stitch, the rag doll at hand magically came to life. The life-sized rag doll was beautiful and perfectly made but not as perfect as Belle was.

The doll stood up moving away from Belle. She gazed at her creator, her doll eyes of no emotion.

"You're very lucky, do you know that?" Belle smiled at the living doll. "You are made purely out of my love and inspiration. You are to live a fortunate life. So, come now, smile and be happy."

The living doll fluttered her eyes innocently. Making sense of what Belle had said, a smile broke from her porcelain face as feelings and emotions also started to set fire on her ocean-blue orbs.

"From now on, you're Lady Luck. Lady so that everyone will know that we share something mutual and Luck because your life will be filled with blessings. You'll live a happy life and I will promise to support you in every way."

Lady Luck rushed to where Belle was sitting and hugged her. Though she was shocked at the unforeseen act, she welcomed Luck and tighter did she return the hug.

--

Reminiscing how Lady luck even came to existence changed what Lady Belle felt. Realization hit her.

She was my creation, my Lady sister, my best friend. How could she? She betrayed me.

   She wanted to take vengeance.

"But I promised to support you in everything. Luck, I am a lady of my word. I am to keep that promise," Belle reminded herself as a gentle wind blew and rushed to her cascading, blood-red hair.
