THE doctor came out and our parents rushed to him, demanding to know what happened. However, I stood aside, waiting anxiously for his word. Finally he said, 'Everything is fine. The procedure was successful. The baby is fine. But.' He stopped, unable to meet anyone's eyes.
'But what?'Mirai's mother asked softly. He still didn't answer. I couldn't restrain myself.
'But what?'I demanded, stepping close to him. Anger filled me. I wanted answers. I wanted to know what's wrong. Why won't he tell me?
'That's enough, Ryosuke,'Mirai's father chastised coldly. I'd unconsciously grabbed the doctor by the neck of his scrubs. Reluctantly releasing him, I went are.
I gave Mirai's father a glare. It angered me, how cold he was reacting.
'We able to extract the child and bit mother and son are fine. However, Mirai's has fallen into a coma,'the doctor eventually continued.
'What? Why? Do you know when she'll wake up?'my mother asked tearfully.
'It won't be more than a day and a half or two. Now for the good news. Do you want to see your children?'he asked me with forced cheer. I couldn't answer. I didn't even hear him. I was just so grateful that Mirai was fine.
My mother and Mirai's went to visit Mirai's while our fathers went to look at the babies. I, however, remained at the waiting room. I couldn't find the courage to see eit
