Ding-a-ling.

The Phone Call

Ding-a-ling.

Am I too early?

Wearing simple ripped jeans, a white shirt that showed his defined collarbones draped in navy blue cardigan, Taekwoon was already sitting, legs crossed, at his and Wonshik's favorite table, twenty minutes early. He was very enlivened with their meeting after being separated for two years that it felt just like their first date. Not that he was hoping for anything. Taekwoon was just happy at the thought of finally seeing him again. It had been a while since he last visited the cafe and it felt nostalgic.

Ding-a-ling.

He will come right?

Taekwoon's eyes darted towards the entrance every time the bell chimed, and would look down at his now cold coffee in disappointment if it wasn't who he was expecting. He tried to cheer himself up by thinking that there was still time and shifting his focus back to the book he was supposedly reading. But no matter how hard he tried, the milky skinned male still couldn't chase the anxiety away. His fingers kept on tapping on his thigh as he waited some more.

Ding-a-ling.

Maybe I should just go-

He shut the book and was about to stand up when he looked up and saw the very one he was yearning for. Taekwoon immediately sank back to his seat with his mouth slightly opened. He still couldn't believe that Wonshik was there walking towards him. Furthermore, with what the other was wearing he was convinced that it was a dream.

Wonshik came wearing a sleek black tux and bowtie with silvery white button-up shirt that seemed to fit his toned body perfectly and a white handkerchief neatly tucked in his pocket. His shiny brown hair was pushed back and styled which enhanced his handsome facial features more. It looked as if he just got back from a wedding or about to go to one. The sight left Taekwoon breathless and he couldn't take his eyes off the heavenly figure even until Wonshik took the seat across from him.

The flawless man in front of him was smiling warmly and somehow waited for Taekwoon to come back to earth. The latter blinked a couple of times to snap himself out of his daze and managed to return the smile.

"H-hi..." Taekwoon wanted to slip and slide down under the table at the way he stuttered. But before he could embarrass himself more, he regained composure and cleared his voice. "...you're looking great- I mean, it's great to see you again, Wonshik."

Taekwoon felt blood rushing up to his cheeks and pounding his head when the other dissolved in laughter. It was loud and rumbling off his chest, they way Wonshik would if he had found something amusing. Wonshik's dark brown orbs then fell on his own and he couldn't help but to be drawn by them once again like how he used to.

Lips were lightly bitten as the other hesitated for a moment before responding, "You're looking good as well. And yeah, I'm glad that you can make it."

Taekwoon was still a little confused as to why Wonshik was dressed up like that and wondered if it was alright for him to ask. "Um, nice tux. Are you planning to go to a wedding after this?"

Wonshik looked down to see as if he just realized what he was wearing and a bit of color drained off his face. He undid the bow tie and ed the first two buttons of his shirt. Taekwoon could faintly see a tattoo across his left chest that wasn't there before and wondered when and why he got it.

"No, I was actually from one." Wonshik's voice grew quiet, the traces of laughter from earlier was gone.

"I see... A friend's or a relative's?" Taekwoon flashed a faint smile as he tried to make small talk.

Ding-a-ling.

"Mine."

What?

The smile turned into a frown in a matter of seconds and he suddenly felt sick. He wasn't really expecting anything when he decided to accept Wonshik's offer to meet up, but Taekwoon definitely wasn't expecting this either. His heart wasn't ready to take it.

Taekwoon's hands were clasped so hard and must have been trembling because Wonshik then reached out across the table to hold it. He looked down at their hands and he could feel the familiar warmth that was Wonshik's. This made Taekwoon want to break down even more.

"Hey, look at me." There wasn't much force in Wonshik's voice, but it was enough for the brooding man to lift his head up. "I didn't go through with it though."

Taekwoon's eyes widen at the confession, more in confusion than surprise. "W-what do you..." He was too baffled to even finish his question.

"I didn't make it to the altar." Wonshik heaved out a sigh and continued with his explanation. "Not long after we broke up, my parents set me up with this girl and I was forced to date and eventually marry her. It happened so fast that I wasn't able to stop and think."

There was a pause and Taekwoon took this chance to unclasped his hands and held Wonshik's in his, gaving it a gentle squeeze. "Take your time."

Wonshik's troubled face relaxed and returned the gesture by giving Taekwoon a little smile. "As much as I wanted to, as much as I tried to, I wasn't happy. There wasn't a day that you didn't crossed my mind. I wanted to come back to you, but I couldn't make myself to take the risk. You can call me a coward because I am one."

Taekwoon listened to every word and shook his head. He could never see the man in front of him who went through so much, a coward.

"I contemplated so much during the time when we were preparing for the wedding. I wanted to call it off, but there wasn't a strong enough reason for me to do it. Even if I wanted to get back together with you, I was afraid that you might not want to accept me. But then last night you called." Wonshik released an unstrained chuckle. "Of all nights, you just got to call me on the night before the wedding. I took it as a sign and made my decision."

"Well, you know me when it comes to timings." Taekwoon shrugged and tried to to lighten up the atmosphere a little. He was glad and couldn't help but to join in when the tanned man in the black tux laughed like there was no tomorrow.

As the laughter died down, they were already gazing into each others eyes, sharing their inner most feelings.

"Taekwoon-ah, I may have left my other life behind, but I'm more than ready to start over with you. Would you like to?" There was affection mixed with determination in the way Wonshik said it and it was enough.

Taekwoon was smiling as he stood up and leaned forward to plant a soft kiss on Wonshik's lips, telling him that he was more than willing to.

Ding-a-ling.

Definitely.
