ESCAPE TO THE SOUTH

Is it possible to feel safe? Kwon Jihyun and Kim Jongin's parents who are high-ranking officials have been brutally murdered by the country's enemy. Song Minho. He is South Korea's best assassin, and North Korea's most wanted. He's after Choi Seungcheol, the best friend of Kwon Daewoon; Kwon Jihyun's father. A deal is proposed, to have Kim Jongin to leave for South Korea to catch Song Minho before he catches Choi Seungcheol. Would it be possible to eliminate South Korea's most experienced assassin? Or will love occur?

(Left to right: Kwon Jihyun (Pyeongyang), Kim Jongin (Pyeongyang), Song Minho (Seoul), Choi Seungcheol (Pyeongyang))

Foreword

Jihyun laid on her bed, hoping that she would sooner or later fall into deep slumber. It happened exactly a week ago. Everything reminded her of the death. The death of her parents. From the lunchbox that her mother used to fill every single morning to her father's shampoo sitting on the side of the bath. Never in her life she felt so empty and alone. She abruptly stood up, searching for the scrunched up piece of paper that was given to her. Sighing, she unraveled the piece of paper and stared at the name. Song Minho. He was the one that ruined her life. He was the one that selfishly took away everything in a heartbeat. She wanted him dead. Jihyun wanted him to feel the pain her parents felt. But a sudden knock at the door shook her out of her thoughts.

"...Jongin?" She barely let out whisper while looking at the door. Only one person would be knocking at 3AM in the morning, she was almost certain. The door swung open, revealing the boy. Jongin was soaked to the bone, completely drenched by the rain.

"Jihyun...? How are you getting on?" She knew exactly what he was talking about. Both of their parents were murdered by the male who almost represented Satan himself. hurt, she couldn't speak. The crying took a toll on her voice and she could only let out the occasional mutters and whispers. Staring at him, she quickly nodded her head to signal she was fine. When really she wasn't.

"Why aren't you talking? Cat got your tongue?" He tried to joke but soon the room was filled with silence. Tip, tap, tip, tap. The sound of the rain tapping against the living room window.

"Come on, we should sleep." He opened his arms to signal the woman to come to him while nodding his head. Jihyun had no choice but to do so, but in the comfort of his embrace, she fell into a deep slumber with her head resting against his chest. Jongin soon drifted to sleep, hugging Jihyun tightly.

The two woke up to the door being broken down in the morning, neither had a clue what was happening. Before they could intercept what was happening, they were cuffed and dragged out the door by men dressed in camouflage green.

"W-w-where are we going?" Jihyun could barely mutter out in hope for one of the men to answer.

"To Camp 14, the labour camp." One of the armed men scoffed out while shoving them inside the back of the van.

"Camp 14...?" She was dazed, she had no clue what was happening, let alone know why she was been sent to a labour camp. But little did she and Jongin know that their lives would change forever...

Hello sweeties! This plot has stuck with me after re-watching Commitment and reading "Escape from Camp 14: One Man's Remarkable Odyssey From North Korea to Freedom in the West"! So I tried to be as accurate as I can in terms of the country and the labour camp. I highly recommend for people to read the book! It is so far the best one I have ever read! I have to admit that the plot is quite similar to the movie but I felt like it would be good to change it up a bit. I would say that the beginning is quite similar but the second half is totally different! I hope everyone enjoys this fanfic!
