PLOT:  Once upon a time there was a time lord with a time traveling machine called the TARDIS.  He was from the planet Gallifrey where there were many others like him, many other time lords.  But as time went by...  the Time War happened, leading to the uninevitable..  the death of all the time lords.. except for that one man with his TARDIS...
