Greek mythology tells the tale of the Teumessian vixen and the magical hound, Laelaps. Sent as a punishment for a worldly crime, the Vixen was destined to never be caught. A gift of courtship from Zeus to Europa, Laelaps was destined to catch everything it hunted. In death, they became the Canis Major and Canis Minor of the night sky.
