→ Theater kid. Loved performing in school throughout his youth. he really wanted to be a singer or something cool but was always told he didn't have the 'look' for it, so he developed slight body dysphoria.
→ Used to get bullied for his appearance, was overweight as a kid. He capitalized on his insecurities by turning to humor. If he made fun of himself then no one else could. So he became the class clown throughout middle school and high school.
→ After having enough of it all, he decided that he would do something to get fit, which is what inspired him to play on the school’s hockey team. He was not naturally gifted in athletics and it showed. His peers made jokes and even juyeon’s family was doubtful about his newfound interest. But he begged until they gave in, letting him sign up for the school’s team.
→ his parents aren’t very well off, so it was a plus for them when they realized juyeon could possibly end up getting a college scholarship if he dedicated all of his time and effort into the sport. So really they kinda forced him to practice all the time, but they meant well.
→ despite enjoying hockey for the most part, juyeon didn’t want to do it forever. He liked that he was able to finally lose weight and get pretty toned and fit from the sport, all while making his parents proud, but the insecurities of his young age never fully left.
→ juyeon was drawn to music and really wanted to become a singer, but the words of his classmates stuck with him. He’d never be ‘visual’ material, so he wouldn’t have much luck most likely. Instead, he decided to take music production. Your looks didn’t matter in the production department, and hey, he was still able to do what he loved.
→ juyeon ended up getting a hockey scholarship to jeju uni, and decided he would secretly major in music production behind his parents back. As long as he remained on the hockey team then it was fine. They’d never know a thing.
