BACKGROUND
Jihyun was born in a dingy one room apartment. Her father was never home; and if he was he would bring the other "ladies", he called them, and trash the apartment. If her mom wasn't delusional she would lock Jihyun in the bathroom until it was all over. Unfortunately, that rarely happened. Her father never acknowledged her presence, and if he did it was when he was drunk and ready to put out his rage of sick games on Jihyun: forcing her to drink to.
Despite it all, Jihyun loved her mother, even if she vehemently refuses to admit it. After her father leaves to prowl around the city for more women, Jihyun would soothe her broken, beautiful mother by brushing her long, silky hair.
At age seven, her father with one too many drinks, and her mother withdrawing within herself in the corner, took her and threw her around the room laughing cruelly. Every time she fell, she fell into one of the broken glass shards from beer bottles, resulting in her two physical imperfections. By the time her father was bored with his "game", Jihyun managed to crawl out his front door. Looking out she noticed it was snowing. It was the first time she left the apartment. She then unsuccessfully tried to crawl to the woods behind the apartment.
Her story was all over the local news. "Seven year old girl found half dead on the edge of the woods". When investigators connected Jihyun back to her parents, her father denied everything. The one act of strength and right her mother did was escape the house with her soon afterwards. For one year, they didn't have a home. They moved from motel to motel. Her mother had many part-times job until she secured a job as a salon assistant.
When she was eight and a half, her mother met a ridiculously rich man who happened to meet her mother when he got his hair trimmed. Her undeniably beautiful mother got married soon after. Most would think it was happily ever after for Jihyun. However, she felt the suffocation of having to meet perfection in her new household. Her only salvation was her step-father's son who so innocently embraced her into his foreign world. Even then she constantly felt unworthy. To cover up her pain an memories, she immersed herself in two alter egos; a confident, stunning princess during the day and her real, introverted self at night. That's why she would never spend more than a couple minutes in the same room as her mother. She believes she hates her mother for being so weak, but the truth of the matter is that it hurts Jihyun to see her mother that way.
Initially Jihyun was bullied when she entered middle school. All the kids knew that she wasn't originally rich [She went to a private school]. But her head-strong personality and blatant refusal to be ignored eventually broke through the snobbery by the end of her second year. Ever since then she had her own selection of close friends and got along with everyone fairly well (that is except guys). Jihyun doesn't seek to be the center of attention. but rather to leave an impression and have her own voice heard. She hates to be ignored.
Because of her perfectionist nature she had stellar grades and was able to get into Eunmyeong University without a hitch. And upon arrival Jihyun was set to join a sorority. Not just any sorority but the most elite - Theta Eta Beta. Her mother also wanted Jihyun to join a sorority. For Jihyun, she wanted to be with a worthy crowd that could also offer her stability when she needed it. Her mom wanted Jihyun to join a sorority to elevate her own prestige and image among the other wealthy mothers. Image and riches means everything to her mom.
Jihyun was invited as one of the canidates to join the sorority because of her step-father's wealth and sponsorship to the school. But also she already knew half the sorority sisters through careful planning and arrangement before she entered the University .Upon arrival Jihyun bursted in, b with confidence, and greeting everyone with a perfected smile. She passed with flying colors, just as she had planned.
Jihyun was elated that she was accepted but also felt unhappy because she knew that this was the life she planned out herself but would she have been able to do without the help of her new family? Being reliant on others really bothered Jihyun because she didn't feel worthy: but her whole life was based on the help of her background.
FAMILY
▪ Cheon Taeyoon | Step-Brother ♕ | He is her sole confidant. He has seen her at her worst and her best. When they are together they truly seem like siblings. She nags him and dotes over him like an older sister and Taeyoon commands her attention and love through teasing and mischief.
▪ Yunmi | Mother | The new marriage never really changed her mom. Yunmi is still the same hollow woman that Jihyun had to look after when she was young. Except now, her mom busy's herself with all the money she has. Whenever they are together now it is a one-sided conversation. Her mother is only set on marrying her off well and keeping a perfect household. Jihyun keeps her mom at an arms-length. Whenever she sees her mom she feels surges of anger that is hard for her to control. Jihyun doesn't mean to, but often ends up fighting with her mother.
▪ Lee Inguk | Father | His current location is unknown. Jihyun doesn't even know if he's still alive. Besides horrific memories of when she was young she doesn't dwell her thoughts on him.

Jihyun and Miss Scholarship share the same affinity for keeping their heads in books. When there's a spare moment Jihyun will slip into Mis Scholarships room and read a book with her in bed. Over mugs of hot cocoa or tea they giggle over their favorite heroine or try to figure out that calculus problem for fun. Initially Miss Scholarship hated Jihyun because by appearance, Jihyun looked like a complete snob. But their instant connection happened when Miss Scholarship found Jihyun to be in the same Advanced Literature course as she. When they are together they are like little girls, giddy and ravenous for adventure - through books.
▪ Miss Outspoken | "Oh no, you don't!"
On a typical day in the common room at the sorority you will hear loud voices trying to one up the other. That is Jihyun and Miss Outspoken. They love to argue and discuss anything that comes up. Who is the quissential fashion icon - Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn? Should private foreign companies be allowed to seize oil rigs from other countries? Is beans or kale better for your health? The list never ends. They laugh together as loud as they banter and argue. When they are together they seem to be running a race against each other: who can go faster. When they aren't at the sorority they usually travel to government Gala's or the newest art exhibits. For them, visiting these places mean more topics to discuss with each other.
They look out for each other. Just because they seem to not get along sometimes doesn't mean anyone else can dish out that attitude to one another. Protecting each other's backs, if someone is giving Jihyun a hard time, Miss Outspoken hit them back ten times as hard.

This unlikely pair actually get along very well. Even though Miss P.R can be overbearing, Jihyun appreciates that she doesn't put on a fake face. Miss P.R won't pretend to like you or care about something. It's refreshing to Jihyun. While Miss P.R vies for power and reputation, Jihyun is already preoccupied with hiding herself that there doesn't seem to be any power clashes.

Mino is your typical frat boy. He is always out partying with his friends and can come off as a insensitive jerk. You can see him roaming across campus with his friends in sunglasses and a snapback.
Behind those sunglasses he is always carefully analyzing the situation. If he has to, he would do a lot of dumb things for his friends. Whether it be lying to their girlfriends that his friends are being faithful to them or being that one guy who jumped out the second story window for laughs. He is loud and obnoxious but he does it to maintain the fun atmosphere among his friends. He likes to say "chill out" or "loosen up and just have fun."
But it when he is with his friends or caught up in the moment he can seem cruel. If you prove to be no worth to him or cross him in some way he completely disregards you as an individual. He will embarrass you in front of the whole school or knock you out with his fists without a second thought.
He tries to control himself but has a hard time becuase he only lives in the moment. Even if something has huge consequences, if it conjures a smile at the moment, he regrets nothing. Enjoying life and his friends are the top priorities for him. He will be aggressive if necessary. He is like a crazy older brother to everyone. The reliable one. The shoulder to lean on.
Mino has his kind moments as well. He can spot trouble from a mile away and is able to maneuver himself and those close to him to saftey. And if he can offer asssistance to someone in need he is the first to help. For instance even if he is late to a meeting he would stop to help someone on his way. It sometimes leads to trouble because he doesn't know when he should draw the line.

RELATONSHIP
Before he met Jihyun Mino was never really interested in girls. He would flirt and date them but never bothered to get to know them. To him, their complicated and frivolous behavior was just a turn off for him. They were only good for hook-ups. He would rather just hang out with his friends or exercise.
But when he saw Jihyun for the first time come in and sit in front of him in class, she took his breath away. She seemed so disciplined yet gentle, and above all, beautiful. At first he tried to approach her as he usualy hit on girls. "Hey beautiful, would you like to...". It was only after her apparent disgust on her face did he realize she was not like other girls.
He asked around to find out that she was untouchable to other guys and was like ice. Initially the thrill of trying to obtain the unobtainable really got him going. But after watching her carefully for awhile he slowly became infatuated with her. He began to show it through small acts such as leaving coffee for her on her desk or discreetly helping her out of awkward social situations.
To Jihyun, his interest confuses her. It keeps her up at night, over analyzing his every move and fantasize that his kindness is just an act to hurt her. For him, he is confused and more drawn to her from her stiffness towards him. And he's attracted to her seemingly strong appearance that he imagines, may keep up with his. He becomes so curious why she coils from his touch and kindness.
This went on for a good couple months until they were assigned to work on a final project together. Of course Jihyun was devastated. How could she be paired off with a boy. Moreover a boy who seemed to like her. For many meetings she completley ignored him and sat as far away from him as she could.
Then awhile later things began to change. It was late at night when Jihyun was walking back to her sorority house. On her way a group of guys who were coming back from a bar started to walk towards her. Maybe because of her impudent looks at them or or their drunkness, but those guys started to leer at her. Petrified she tried to break out into a run but they wouldn't let her leave.
On the same path Mino was walking home from a local 7-eleven to get more beer. When he saw a huddle of guys from a distance, he instantly knew they were up to no good. He jogged up to them and saw Jihyun in the middle, terrified. He quickly tried to diffuse the situation but when he saw that the guys would not leave her alone he knocked some of them out. While they were distracted he grabbed Jihyun's hand and ran for it. Later when they got away Jihyun realized that she was touching him but didn't feel so repulsed.
From then on, although regularly fighting, the two slowly- very slowly, began to warm up to each other.
FUNFACTS ABOUT THE COUPLE?
• Jihyun only realized her feelings many, many months after denial. It hit her like an epiphany. [Not all guys are bad people.]
• Once they're together they have a very intense relationship. One minute they're fighting - about to tear each other's eyes out. They next moment they're latching onto another as if they can't get close enough.
• Mino's friends make fun of him that he is so babied by Jihyun.

But she completely forgot he was coming (she was too immersed in reading a book) until he arrives at her bedroom door. For the first time he sees a new soft side of her in pj's, thick rimmed glasses, and hair up in a sloppy ponytail. Of course Jihyun feels like crawling in a hole, but what can she do about it then. They get started and after a while, oddly, she feels comfortable with him although he is a boy. She becomes lost in working again until he hesitantly slides his hands into hers. Celine stiffens and blushes furiously a deep shade of red, worsened by her pale face.
