Drama Recommendation (NaeIl's Cantabile/ Cantabile Tomorrow)

Drama Recommendation: NaeIl's Cantabile/ Cantabile Tomorrow (Episode 1-8) [WAITING FOR THE NEXT EPISODE IS A TORTURE! HELP!]

First of all, NaeIl's Cantabile is a comfortable drama to watch because it doesn't have a strong romance. However, it does have an impactful love line between the main leads. What I mean is, the female lead (Seol Nae Il) likes the male lead (Cha Yoo Jin) because he inspired her to be a pianist who can capture the hearts of the people she performs to. She admires him at first which leads to having a crush on him and eventually she falls in love with him. Furthermore, Seol NaeIl thinks that Cha YooJin is the only person who she could heal her. She has a past that makes her afraid of strict teachers and lessons.

Secondly, NaeIl's Cantabile provides various types of emotions. The drama communicates well with the viewers. For the first few episodes, it was really hilarious. The interaction between Seol NaeIl and Cha YooJin was so funny that I cried because I kept on laughing. The most memorable part was when Cha YooJin volunteered to clean up Seol NaeIl's house because [you should watch the drama to see how dirty her house is. It can't be described.] Then, it follows by sweet moments of the main leads. Seol NaeIl would request for Cha YooJin to do something for her. Of course Cha YooJin would disagree at first but later he would do it for her. One of such scenes was Seol NaeIl had personally prepared a t-shirt for Cha YooJin to wear for an orchestra performance. [It was a group t-shirt but Cha YooJin's one is really special. Bling bling!!] Since Cha YooJin was the conductor, he did not agree to it because he wanted to look professional. However, when he saw Seol NaeIl's injured index finger, he wore it. Currently, it is jealousy. Seol NaeIl is jealous of Cha YooJin and Chae Do Kyung (a musical actress and also Cha YooJin's ex-girlfriend) while Cha YooJin is jealous of Seol NaeIl and Lee YoonHoo (a cellist who has fallen for Seol NaeIl for her odd personality).

Lastly, NaeIl's Cantabile has important values and messages to take note of.

First, it is the goal in your life. Cha YooJin has one goal in life. He wants to be a conductor. However, he had to face many obstacles and challenges. Nothing had been easy for him although he was one of the best students in the school. As for Seol NaeIl, she wants to be a kindergarten teacher who teaches and entertains her students by playing the piano. It is odd but it suits her character.

Second, it is to overcome fear. Cha YooJin could not continue his studies about because he is afraid of planes. He was scared of beaches and swimming pools because he fell in the ocean when he was young. Seol NaeIl is afraid of strict teachers and lessons. She would run away from her class because she feels threaten and insecure. It was also because of her past. When she was young, her piano teacher was really strict to her and she was forced to play the piano eventhough she wanted to stop. Seol NaeIl wanted to be the best but she did not want to be forced to do something.

Third, giving up is not an option. Cha YooJin was given a challenge to conduct an orchestra played by the leftover students. Although the leftover students were not good, Cha YooJin tried many ways to make them a better group and musicians. Due to Cha YooJin's effort and the group's hard work, they had not only given the best performance but also an exciting one.

Fourth, do not streotype. Just because the S Orchestra was performed by leftover students, that does not mean they could not give the best performance. Just because A Orchestra was performed by top students, that means they would give an excellent performance. [I'm so done by these kind of views.]

Last but not least, friendship. Cha YooJin had to make a choice between S Orchestra (the leftovers) or A Orchestra (the best students). He wanted to stay with S Orchestra but Professor Do (a piano teacher and also the most immatured teacher) brainwashed him which made him chose to go with the A Orchestra. Poor Cha YooJin had to struggle alone because his friends did not trust him anymore as they felt betrayed by his decision and also another major thing. As for Seol NaeIl, she wanted to stay with both Cha YooJin and S Orchestra but Cha YooJin disappoints her by making things difficult for her to handle. He did not understand her well.

Honestly, I rarely recommend any dramas. One, it is because I am a picky viewer and two, when I do, it means that I am totally addicted to the drama. I am someone who likes to watch those type of of dramas which focus more on music, passion and friendship. The reason why I enjoy Beethoven Virus, Dream High Season 1, My Lovable Girl and NaeIl's Cantabile. Not forgetting School 2013 although it does not have anything to do with music and passion but just friendship.

In conclusion, NaeIl's Cantabile is not a drama to be missed. It may not be as good as "You Who Come from Star" but you will definitely not going to regret watching it.

I haven't seen the Japanese live action version of the anime (Nodame Cantabile) but a friend said it was so much like the anime. I watched the anime and it is really good. I like it ^-^ I would definitely include Korea's version in my list as well.
