Define Neverland: Interview with Block B

Hullo ,

You have been transported here via the Inter-Galactic-Web to feed on our thoughts (Hello). Your humanicky curiosity shall be fulfilled! This is Woo Jiho writing (This is Kyung, I’m being held captive). You have sent us questions regarding Define Neverland via this form (Help). So, shall we start? (I'm doing all the Internet work here, while chained to my closet.)

MATTER OF EXISTENCE
(sent in by Sakura)

Q1. Hi Zico. This probably sounds really stupid, but are you some sort of human who’s been through all of time and practically know everything about everyone? I am confused about your identity.

Not a stupid question at all, dear Sakura. It is brilliant! Who I am really depends on when and how you question me.

My existence was briefly explained in the chapter “Solomon is I”. For the entertaining explanation, do check out the chapter.

Not-entertaining explanation: If you are wondering about my old job, I used to answer mails and send little birds to become children, for I was Solomon Caw. I taught Peter Pan what he knew, I was his mentor and was the wise one who agreed to let Peter live with the birds. I even ordered my people (birds) to buid him a bird’s nest, which he used as a boat to cross back to Kensington Gardens.

I have reincarnated into all sorts of characters. I had families, I experienced human lives and even animals… The tragedy is, I can remember them all. My existence can never end, it will repeat and repeat and I have yet to find an exit. As Jean Paul Sartre would say, ‘No Exit’.

Death to me is like Change; transformation from an old body to a newborn, my memories intact and heavy on my shoulders. Sometimes I wonder if I’ve done enough; borne more than my load, taken more than I could stand and surely, surely that must merit a reward?

Oh, what I would do to be able to forget. At least then, death would actually feel like dying.

Try to imagine the moment of your last breath, but the only thought in your head is, “Here we go again,” and then you wake up with a different shell…

But to answer your question, simply: above everything else, I was a crow named Solomon Caw and to this day, although no longer a crow, I am still Solomon Caw, under different aliases.

MATTER OF REINCARNATION
(sent in by Benson, Chi and Resha)

Q2. Are there any reincarnations to know of? As in Hook, Tiger Lily and Wendy's brothers.

Oh! This sounds fun! Dear Benson, the sender of such interesting question, Hook’s identity and his crew have already been introduced along with Tiger Lily and Wendy’s brothers in the year 2009! Surprise, surprise!

There is a whole chapter dedicated to Hook and his crew, and it’s named, “Kai and Crew”. So, guess who Kim Jongin was before he became the insolent child! Yes, you guessed right.

Kim Jongin used to be Captain Hook, and I suppose, that was why he fancied making Junhong and Junhee’s lives hell. Old habits never die, do they? As for Byun Baekhyun, he used to be part of Hook’s crew, his name was Bill Jukes. Har. Let that sink in.

Unfortunately, Park Chanyeol might as well be Sleepy from Snow White and we would never know the difference, would we?

Tiger Lily is still as prejudice against Wendy as ever, even in the twenty-first century. She did not make much of an appearance during 2009. However, after Junhee disappeared, she sneaked right back in. Tiger Lily has reincarnated as Kwon MinaShe appeared 2009 and was mentioned in 2014, the chapters “Friends Like Us”  and “One is Kinder”. (More Tiger Lily is in store.)

As for Wendy’s brothers, Michael Darling became Huang Zitao, while the whereabout of John Darling, I cannot tell you. Wu Yifan was, believe it or not, one of Hook’s pirates, Gentleman Starkey, and as Gentleman Starkey, he was very well-mannered, lovely and did not like killing children. He stopped being a pirate after Hook died and became a babysitter who taught the tribe children impeccable manners. Sweet, isn't it? As Wu Yifan, old habits die hard, he is just as proper and gentlemanly.

And as for the Lost Boys, they have been introduced too! They are the BAP members. Look out for their characteristics. Pickle little Curly became Jung Daehyun. As for Kim Himchan, he was Nibs.

Moon Jongup was the sweet little Tootles who tried to shoot Wendy (although that was an accident). Funnily, Bang Yongguk used to be one of the Lost Twins, no surprises here, really!

The mermaids are everywhere; watch out for them, they are fiesty. As you might already know, Block B are the odd bits and pieces, but very special nevertheless. I, Woo Jiho, once was Solomon Caw, which is already mentioned in the chapter “Solomon is I” along with Taeil who used to be Mr. Smee, while P.O was the Ticking Crocodile.

There you go! From the top of my head! I shall not reveal anymore for it may spoil the surprises, however, I shall add more after they have been revealed.

Q3. Also, my curiosity has been tickled by Youngjae's existence. Is he in any way relevant to what happen ages ago, or his he just a new addition to the story unravelling now?

I shall not tell you who Youngjae used to be, dear Benson, you would laugh. A hint, I will give you: Who is smarter, more cunning, more magical and more fiesty than Peter Pan? I laughed when I found out. Taeil could never look at Yoo Youngjae and not twist his face into a knot. Kyung was jarred when he discovered who genius little Youngjae used to be.

Dear child, I wish to unknow Youngjae, for the truth more than tickles me to no end!

(Okay, Kyung, here. Don’t tell Jiho I told you, but have you ever heard of Tinker Bell? HAHAHA, yep, that feisty little thing!)

Good luck figuring out, I shall wish you well(Pst. Benson, please unchain me from the closet, I gave you the answer).

Q4. So… Who else, beside Junhee and Albert Einstein have you brought to Earth… Haha. I'm sorry what a lame question.

Hullo Chi, the question is not lame at all! You must be wondering when I handed in my retirement. It was in the year 1950, when I thought I had done enough for the humans and wanted to rest. I became a human. I did miss being a crow. I miss the make-believe and the letters too. The ones I always received from mothers and married couples, who pleaded me to send them children.

However, that is my job no more. I reckon, anybody born before the year 1950, I chose them myself! Otherwise, you were the reincarnations of the universe, I am afraid.

It is vast and cruel, I am telling you. They make mistakes, as I told young Junhee once. I kind of knew the job would be madness without me, and when have I ever been wrong? The universe forgot to make me forget, how ridiculous is that?

A few humans have remnants of their past lives in them, because the universe does a sloppy job. I suspect they don’t clean us out properly. See Kyung and Taeil, for example. It probably forgot to clean them entirely (ew, that sounds gross, don’t listen to him, I am very clean).

As tales go, children shall remain children as long as they are happy, innocent and heartless.

Good day to you!

Q5. Just how many connections do you have to, basically, all the characters? :3

There would be two kinds of connections, dear Resha. The Primary and the Secondary.

Primary connection is before the reincarnation, where I was Solomon CawThe Secondary connection is, of course, after I left the life of Solomon Caw behind.

It is all semantics, dear child. :-) (Nobody trusts an emoticom with a long nose.)

I am connected to anybody and everybody, and at the same time, I am connected to nobody, for I am the Connection.

MATTER OF REFERENCES

Q6. I know you don't know everything, so I'll just ask you what I know you know. Do you still see the Peter in Zelo/Junhong?

Hello ‘Bags Full of Sunshine’, yes, as a matter of fact, I do see that bratty, childish and immature nature that possessed Peter in Choi Junhong. And I suspect that, if dear Peter was to ever grow bitter and hateful, he would make a very likely Zelo. So, as that being said, of course, I see them in each other, for they are each other, dear child.

Q7. Peter Pan never got to stay with Maimie nor Wendy so why do you think it might be different now?

Hello again, Bags Full of Sunshine, you have a very long name. Peter Pan never got to stay with Maimie nor Wendy—while what you said is true, but what do you think is different now? I was working back then, was I not? And wasn’t that life, their first ever fate? Why do you think I am here, twisting and dabbling with time and the universe? My dear child, I do not think that fate may be different now, my goal is to act upon my own wishes to make it happen. If I think Peter would ever end up with Maimie or Wendy, why would I get my hands dirty?

Child, fate and destiny are not written in stone, mind. They are suggestions, they are possibilities and the likely chances of the future, only you make them happen, and by believing in them hard enough, by working hard enough, they happen. If you want to change fate, you need to work even harder.

Q8. Solomon Caw, who gave you your name? Or did you give it to yourself?

This shall remain forever my secret.

MATTER OF MALFUNCTIONING MEMORIES

Q9. Dear Kyung, how much do you remember? How did Kyung, The Boy who Remembers meet Block B and Solomon Caw?

Oh, hello! A question for me from, uh, A Teapot Full of Rain. Right, nice to meet you. How much I remember? A lot more than you I expect. I remember being thrown into this world against my will, I remember my life before I became a human, and how desperate I was to get back. Then when I was forced into kindergarten, I met this really smart kid, and I was drawn to him. No, not because he was smart. He hated him because he was such a know-it-all, always giving the teachers a hard time. It was his eyes. I remember those eyes. I’ve seen them before, from my life as a bird, yes, definitely. I remember. I remember being told off for messing up his nest, while I was still learning how to fly, and fell into his nest, yes.

But that was my life as what I was before I became human. Jiho suspect that I’ve been reincarnated around thirty times, but none of those reincarnations stayed in my memories. He suspected I was a human half of those times (that’s fifteen times, by the way), but I don’t remember them. I only remember my very first life, a life of a bird, probably long ago, Jiho wouldn’t tell me exactly what year, but he said I existed even before that Peter. I know a lot of details about our home across the Serpentine. I remember nothing else.

The other members came on their own. Jiho picked them up during his time growing up. He had a knack for sensing people he once dealt with. Something about their scent being particularly strong, I have no idea how. They smell the same to me. I’ve never met Mr. Smee nor the Ticking Crocodile, so I can’t tell you how Jiho knew. Taeil hyng took a while before he admitted his identity, but Jiho didn’t take it to heart, knowing that Taeil hyung was horrified of having been who he was, so Jiho allowed him to repent for his past crimes. P.O, we keep him, well, like a pet, I suppose? He doesn’t know about his past life. Only Jiho does, and for some reason, Taeil hyung swore he can still here the ticking at night, and refuse to ever sleep in the same room as P.O. I think it’s just his conscience getting the better of him.

As for the rest, I’m sure they are the people Jiho used to know in his pasts, I'm not sure which of his past, probably all of them. He take them in and keep them around…they are probably important to him, although he would never admit it. I overheard a conversation between him and Taeil hyung once. It was when we took U-Kwon in, after finding him during high school. Taeil hyung was saying that Jiho got too attached, and they had this fight, where Jiho was all, “You don’t understand, oh I’m so misunderstood, yada yada.” Apparently, U-Kwon used to be his younger cousins from one of his lives, who fell into a well, or something and it was all Jiho’s fault, so, yeah, he’s trying to keep that happening again.

Q10. Dear Kyung, have you ever outwitted Solomon Caw? Are you happy now?

The answers are the same for these two questions. If you can answer the first, you will answer the second. I am not telling you what it is, but you would need to be an utter nitwit to not figure it out. Do I look happy to you, you git. I live with Woo Jiho, how– I mean, just how can you ask such a question. You make me even more miserable.
