PERSONALITY — 

Hael is pretty much a straightforward and a blunt person. If she doesn't like something or someone she shows it or says it straight out but she doesn’t mean any harm behind her own words. She's reckless when it comes to her words, she tends to says things that makes a situation even more awkward than it already is and she says things that doesn't have anything to with the situation. She isn't afraid to give somebody a verbal backhand or literally one. 

Although she is an all-round average (sometimes she gets Bs) grade A student; she holds the 'Bad Girl' image in school and the teachers there calls her the troublemaker or 'munje', she studies hard and plays hard. Hael is known for her backtalk towards the teachers, including the school principal and for the boys, her violent ways. She's not the smoking, skipping school bad girl type, she just likes to talk back and get into fights as a form of getting attention from her parents. Hael has a face that mistakes others for thinking that she’s a quiet and shy girl. She’s the exact same person when she’s with her close friends, her friends adore her because they believe Hael is ‘real’. She’s herself wherever she goes; she doesn’t like pretending to be someone she’s not. Hael is really good at witty come-backs which makes it hard for people to say anything to her. Everything she does, she does it with 100% effort, which includes dancing. She finds it hard to do ‘aegyo’ and dislikes being called a 'Pretty Girl'. Whenever she has free time, she'll be in the dance studio, dancing or she'll be in the field, kicking some soccer balls. Since she lived in Busan before she has a Busan accent which many people thinks is adorable but she gets frustrated that people don't take her seriously because of it. She collects Bear Bricks as a hobby.

Hael’s weakness is that she keeps her guard up around her parents, she loves them but she doesn’t feel like they love her back after what happened to her brother. Her parents shower her with love and affection, sometimes even with money but she can’t seem to believe it’s all genuine and she's afraid they're going to give up on her.

BACKGROUND — 

Hael was born in Busan but moved to Seoul when she was 12  years old for a new start. Her father is an American who owns a famous Car Company in Korea and her mother has her own boutique and fashion label which is pretty well-known in Korea. Her parents are often busy with their work though they try to make time for Hael, it never happens. Since her younger sibling, Haeum, died, she’s always been alone at home; she only has her maids and butler for company at home. She is fluent in English, which she self taught out of her boredom.

At the age of 8, she witnessed her Haeum get hit by a car. Even though her she assures herself that she wasn't at fault, she can’t help but feel as though as she was, for not taking care of him well enough. She still has nightmares about it and grieves about him at times when she feels alone. Since she feels guilty about her brother’s death, she studies hard to make up for it. Though her parents never praise her or give her enough attention, which is why she’s always causing a ruckus and trouble in school.

PERSONALITY — Jongin is good at juggling being on the school council, class president and his good grades. Hael calls him Mr. Goody Two Shoes and he doesn't like it one bit. He says nothing else except 'Stop that!', 'That's not proper.' and 'Choi Hael!'. Jongin is uptight, proper and withdrawn but he's also calm, sensitive and good-hearted. He secretly takes care of Hael but makes sure not to get caught doing it, it's always behind the scenes of when Hael gets into trouble in school and the school council has to take care of it.

RELATIONSHIP — Hael and Jongin have a love-hate relatonship. Hael creates trouble and Jongin always seems to be the one to catch her red-handed (he's in the school council). They fight everytime they meet, he tells her to stop being such an idiot and she tells him to stop being an asswipe but when one day he happens to witness her crying sorrowfully in the school garden, he had a soft spot for her and it's pretty darn obvious to everyone except her.

Living Through Nightmares

ANYTHING SPECIAL I WOULD NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS PLOT LINE — Hael believes through every fibre of her body that she is the cause of her younger brother’s death. She’s been through several counselling sessions but she still believes that she is at fault. Hael also believes that her parents blame her for it even when they say they don’t (her parents didn’t talk to her as much after the incident, they were just at work a lot and only came home late into the night). Hael can see it in her parents’ eyes, all the sorrow they have. Jihyo then turnt to dancing as her only form of release, she puts her absolute all into dancing.
