about sequels

when i write, i work hard, i think for a long time, and i don't always put a nice happy ending on every story. i leave some open when i finish them because i want you to decide for yourselves whether or not the characters can be happy in the long run. i feel like if i tried to continue these stories, i would disappoint someone and whatever i wrote wouldn't be like what they imagined. plus, i feel like it's a little greedy... i spend time and effort writing a story and when  you ask for a sequel without commenting on what i've actually written my efforts feel undermined and i feel like what i do isn't good enough.

if you want me to write a sequel please tell me what you'd like to see in it and please tell me what you liked about the first par of the story. i don't know.

I get how you feel. To me comments are like the payment authors get for their slaving over a story. And the best comments are the ones that pick out specific things they like about the story. I know I sound greedy but one word comments and the amount of subscribers don't give me the same satisfaction as a thoughtful comment does. And to just solely write "more" or "update soon" and nothing else is rude. I know some authors just word vomit, but most of us actually spend countless hours of our free time toiling over a fic for nothing in return. When the readers want to pay us then they can demand more, but for now they should shut the hell up and learn how to say thank you.
