» PERSONALITY

Often times misunderstood and also known as the 'girl who rarely smiles', she is called Choi Yura. Since childhood, she is known for her cold exterior and colder interior. She is also known for being chased by boys and also for shutting them off just by being cold and browbeating them. Yura doesn't laugh at simple things nor try to do aegyo. She takes seriously and prefers to do things her own way.

 

The closest persons to Yura only know the real her. Yes, there is still coldness, intimidating aura in her but she is a real sweet girl who just wants to be happy. Although, she really wants to be glad and look glad, she can't push herself to smile brightly and often just paints a little smile on her face, which the people find adorable and pitiful at the same time. She just needs the right motivation to be really happy; she hides her happiness inside her because of the scars of her past.

 

Yura is blunt but not rude, quiet but speaks her mind out. She can also be a bit callous and a little obnoxious but she is really hardworking and truly cares for the people around her. Yura has this mindset that she would rather get hurt and/or is prepared to get hurt for her members and the people she loves. She would do anything just to see them smile and happy, even if it costs her to be sad.

 

The cold city girl never gets annoyed or angry, just because of a simple reason, she forgot how it feels to be angry or to feel angry. When she is just a child, she gathered all her feelings inside which made her personality now. Yura also never admits that she has feelings for anyone, she'll make the person realize it which is hard because of the actions she shows. 

 

The so-called ice queen releases all her feelings through singing and performing which became her dream she wants to achieve. She believes through this she will be able to smile again and express her loving, caring, soft heart. Ever since, she realized it she works very hard and continues to improve up to now.

 

 

 

» Background

Yura is born at the night of 1st of September, year 1995 at Korea's Light Province, Gwangju. She is the first child of Kim Yeonju, a waitress and Choi Hongbin, a teacher. In the year 1997, her parents decided to file for divorce because of her father's concubinage. Her mother, Yeonju, spent all her life savings for them to move to Seoul but Yura's uncle disagreed and brought Yura with him to London, against her mother's will. Yura learned all about this when she was nine years old and tried to rebel against her uncle at her young age, but her uncle said that she should be thankful for the first class living and education she receives. Yura tried to shut herself up and appreciate it; continued her normal, happy life but then a letter came from Korea when she was twelve, saying that her father is doing self-harm and is admitted to a mental hospital. There she broke down and started to be cold towards people.

She excelled in her studies and joined extra curricular activities, specifically the glee club. Her peers praised her for her singing and eventually, she learned how to fast talk a.k.a rap, too. Rapping became her extra outlet of loneliness. Although, she is pretty talented, Yura doesn't have many friends but still boys tried to make her them, only giving up with three days span of time. She only has one best friend and that friend stayed with her throughout her hardships.

That friend convinced her to take the SM Entertainment Global Auditions happening in London. Yura finally agreed and auditioned by singing a Korean song, G.NA's "I'll Back Off So You Can Live" and an English song, Ellie Goulding's "The Writer". After three rounds of auditions, she became an official trainee and is flown to Seoul for her training. There, she meets her mother, after not hearing any news about her for the past fourteen years since she was two years old, working as a PD for SM Entertainment. They reconciled and she properly trained for three years. Yura promises to work harder after debut.

» PERSONALITY

Mark's personality matches his looks. He is always seen laughing, pranking his co-members and doing funny things just to make everyone around him happy. He also likes to show-off his talent and is never shy on what he got. Mark Yi-En Tuan is the complete opposite of Yura, which rarely smiles off and on cam. He also likes to act cute and sometimes, involuntarily does so. He is thoughtful and caring but also a bit dense and insensitive sometimes. He is very kind and forgiving but gets jealous easily especially if Yura is involved. He is also the only one that can make Yura smile and laugh at least three times a day.

» INTERACTIONS

 In variety shows, every time Mark is asked about his ideal type, he constantly answers Yura and that never changes. They first met in the backstage of M!Countdown and Mark did a backflip in front of Yura which made her shocked but also made her laugh, that is the first time her fellow members saw Yura laughed that hard and it is because of Mark. Ever since, Mark slowly got to know Yura and vice versa. They always hang out just the two of them in their free time. The two act very affectionate towards each other, often making skinships. Mark is very vocal though of his feelings towards Yura but Yura never gets awkward and is just waiting for the right time and the perfect urge for her to say her real feelings.
