CHARACTER PERSONA The Sweet Girl-Next-Door Jaein isn’t necessarily shy; she just doesn’t take the initiative in making friends. But if you’re kind enough to approach her first, she’ll welcome you with a warm smile. She is liked by her friends, because she is nice to talk to and is a good listener. Jaein is the type of person who listens more than talks. Whenever her friends come to her she will listen to them patiently and give them advices. You can tell her just about anything, because she’s also good at keeping secrets. While she’s a great discussion partner and advisor, Jaein keeps her personal life to herself. She has friends alright, but she makes sure they are kept in such distance that she doesn’t get involved too much with them. She will hang out with them occasionally and greets them warmly, but whenever she feels they’re too close for comfort, she’ll carefully back away to a safe distance. Even her closest friends in university doesn’t know a lot about Jaein's private life and family background. The only friend that she allows fully into her life is Dongjun, her best friend. When it comes to her friends and family, Jaein is caring and attentive. She is observant and always pays attention to things happening around her. She’s good at reading the situation and usually is the first to notice if anything is wrong. Jaein always tries to view things from the bright side. She tells herself that there’s always a reason to everything and not to get mad easily. While she considers this as a good trait, her friends sees this as being naïve and unable to stand up for herself. She often get reminded for being too kind and forgiving, but being Jaein, she just can’t help it. Family Background What She Loves Jaein is a homebody. Whenever she’s not having classes or practicing or working, Jaein will spend most of her time in her room, mixing sounds or rearranging songs or watching cartoons (many people don't know, but the wise and graceful ane enjoys watching Pororo and Larva). And sometimes she goes to the library to read, or has coffee with Dongjoon and Bomi. She’s not a really social person, but she will occasionally hangout with her friends just to get acquainted. She didn’t really like going out, but her good friend Dongjun is always there to drag her out whenever he feels like she has stayed in for too long. |

LOVE INTEREST Park Chanyeol Behind his way too wide grin and childish behaviour, Chanyeol is caring and thoughtful. He is also sweet and is actually a gentleman (in his own Chanyeol-ish ways). Chanyeol likes to joke around, but he is serious when it comes to love and relationships. He will protect the people he loves and will not let anything bad happen to them. If someone dares to mess with his loved ones, he will be the first to hunt them down. And believe me, you don’t want to face an angry Chanyeol. After that one fateful day when he and Jaein sang their duet, Chanyeol decided he wanted to know more about Jaein. Jaein was so lively when talking to him about Jazzyfact and other things that they like, but in other times she was quiet and reserved, and that made Chanyeol curious. Moreover, Chanyeol realized, Jaein didn’t talk much about herself. He once tried to ask about her personal life, but Jaein just gave him an unclear answer and hastily changed the subject. Chanyeol tried to understand that maybe it made Jaein uncomfortable, but it didn’t stop him from wanting to know more about her. He was determined to make Jaein open up to him. Chanyeol is clever, but he isn’t very bright. So he didn’t immediately realize that his interest towards Jaein’s personality had begun developing into something more. It took him some time to realize that when he saw Jaein in a bad mood and asked if she was okay, he actually wanted more answer than yes or no. Or that when he asked Jaein if she liked the song that he found, he was looking for her approval rather than opinion. But then he saw Jaein walking with a guy while smiling happily, and it finally hit him that the feeling behind him to questioning the identity of the boy and his relationship with Jaein wasn’t mere curiosity. And that also made him recognize his feelings towards Jaein. Jaein found everything about Chanyeol endearing. His bright and genuine smile that could light up even her gloomiest days, his eyes that twinkled with mirth (and sometimes mischief), his deep soothing voice that made her feel like she could listen to him talk all day long, and even the way his face twitch into a weird expression when he laughed. Jaein admired Chanyeol’s bright personality and high-spirited nature. She envied his carefreeness and ability to act and talk without worrying about what other people might think. Jaein had admired Chanyeol since the first time they met, yet she didn’t have the courage to approach him. But ever since that fateful day when Chanyeol made her jump in surprise by suddenly rapping to her favorite song, Jaein was determined to get closer to Chanyeol. Jaein might have appeared clueless, but she actually knew everything that was going on. She was aware of how Chanyeol would look for her first every time he got to the station. She was aware of how Chanyeol’s eyes lit up at her mere question of how was your day. Of how Chanyeol let her sit beside him when he’s feeling down, when usually he preferred to be alone. But being herself, Jaein didn’t want to get her hopes high. But then she recognize the spark in Chanyeol’s eyes when he asked her about Dongjun, and Jaein couldn’t help but feeling that maybe, maybe Chanyeol felt the same way. So when one day Chanyeol waited for her in front of the faculty building and casually asked her out, Jaein didn’t miss the nervousness in his eyes (and she thought it was adorable). When Chanyeol kept silent when walking her home, and seemed to be in loss of words when asked, Jaein just smiled and silently intertwined their hands. Chanyeol had blinked and looked at her in surprise, but afterwards he also smiled, and they went through the rest of the way home hand in hand. (And Chanyeol’s stunned expression when she kissed his cheek before entering her building made Jaein couldn’t think of anything cuter.)
To put it simply, Jaein is the Yin to Chanyeol’s Yang. Chanyeol takes Jaein out of her shell, and Jaein, for the first time in forever, lets someone inside it. Chanyeol is like wings that take Jaein to places she’s never seen, and Jaein is what keeps Chanyeol’s feet on the ground. Chanyeol helps Jaein bring out her inner child, and Jaein teaches Chanyeol to view things from a wise perspective. Chanyeol teaches Jaein to speak up her mind, and Jaein shows him that sometimes they don’t even need words to communicate. Chanyeol and Jaein are total opposites when it comes to personality, but that’s what makes them perfect in each other’s eyes. ~ He likes to call her 'Princess', and gets hit a lot because of it. But after some time she gives up and lets him, but still blushes every time he does. |
RELATIONSHIP Jaein met Kyungsoo at the faculty library during her freshman year. Kyungsoo was reading a book of musicology and Jaein might have stared a little too long at the book title, causing him to stare back at her weirdly and asked if anything was wrong. Jaein sheepishly told him that she had been reading the same book, and they finally ended up having a long and in depth discussion about that book. A few days later, they met again at the choir club meeting, and since then they became good friends. Kyungsoo was the first to tell her about AM 840. |

RELATIONSHIP Working side by side with him, Jaein admires Yixing’s knowledge and taste in music. Whenever she had finished helping Luhan, Jaein liked to watch Yixing work. At first she was shy to ask questions, but Yixing must have caught the curiosity in her eyes, because the next time he called Jaein over and began explaining the things she wanted to know. Jaein thinks Yixing is adorable with his dimple smile (but of course she never tells him), but his forgetfulness and habit of suddenly going offline mode (?) concern her. Jaein is the one who will wake him up from his daydream during work, and will constantly check if Yixing gets all his belongings before leaving the building. |
RELATIONSHIP Jaein doesn’t dislike Kris, she just thinks he’s scary. Because Kris is much older (and taller), Jaein finds it hard to approach him. Not to mention the cold expression and the seemingly permanent scowl Kris has on his face. Jaein feels that Kris is always judging everyone—including herself—and it makes her uncomfortable. Although Jaein believes that Kris is a good person underneath, she’s not very eager in proofing that right now. |

RELATIONSHIP Jaein swears she could’ve just died from anxiety about meeting her supervisor for the first time. But the friendly smile on Luhan’s face and the cheerful greeting she got when she stepped into the interview room make her nervousness fade away. Jaein likes working with Luhan. He helped Jaein a lot in her first few days and taught her everything she had to know about her job. Although at work Luhan and Jaein are all business, but outside of work they hang out comfortably. Luhan sometimes treats Jaein to lunch and Jaein will buy him coffee. |
RELATIONSHIP Jaein and Dongjun have been best friends since forever. They’re practically joined at the hip; they grew up in the same neighborhood and went to the same schools. Jaein and Dongjun understand each other like the back of their hands. They tell each other stories they don’t tell anyone else, they know each other’s habits like their own, and sometimes communicate in a way that only they understand. Dongjun is the only person Jaein is clingy to, and Jaein is the only living soul to have witnessed Dongjun’s Jaein is never close to her sister because of the big of 10 years, so she looked up to Dongjun like an older brother, despite their same age. Dongjun, on the other hand, never has any siblings, so he treats Jaein like one. Dongjun is very protective towards Jaein, and he often lectures Jaein on how being too kind and believing towards people is dangerous for her. Like a responsible older brother that he is (well, kind of), Dongjun has a habit of suspecting every guy that gets close to Jaein, watching like a hawk for any hint of not-so-platonic intentions. Jaein often scolds him for being overprotective, and says if he keeps doing that she’ll be forever single, but Dongjun will just shrug it off by saying he’ll marry Jaein instead (to which she responds by exaggeratedly pretending to barf). But really he just doesn’t want Jaein to get hurt, and he wants her to meet someone who can give all the love she deserves. |

RELATIONSHIP Jaein met Bomi at the Macroeconomic class first week of Freshman year. Bomi had sat beside Jaein and begun talking to her just like that, and after a few more classes together they became close friends. Bomi is the one that will regularly pull her to the malls or cafes or karaokes—mostly against her will, but in the end Jaein doesn’t mind. Jaein thinks Bomi’s bubbliness is cute, and Bomi thinks Jaein is very sweet and smart. Bomi is confident and optimist, and sometimes Jaein wonders how Bomi ended up being her friend. Bomi is a frequent listener of AM 840, and has been more than enthusiastic when Jaein told her she wanted to join but hesitates. Bomi had encouraged her, saying that it was time for Jaein to get out of her shell and try something new. |
