Merry Christmas! New Toolbar Updates and a Need for Help
... and Happy Holidays! We hope everyone is enjoying their week wherever they may be!
We've added some more features to the writer's toolbar:
- We've got a word counter now at the bottom right corner (finally!)
- Another source code option to help you debug your html (hint: if you highlight something in visual mode then switch to source, you'll see the part you highlighted in source)
- "Show Blocks" option to help you visualize all the block elements for easier design troubleshooting
- And an experimental feature: the toolbar will now remember your content so that if the editor page is reloaded and remembered content is found and its different from the content loaded with the editor, you will be asked if the auto remembered content should be loaded instead. This should help in case you accidentally navigate out of the page and forget to save or you get logged out in the middle of editing. Remember that this is an experimental feature so you shouldn't expect it to work all the time.
We've also been receiving disturbing reports of inappropriate ads showing for certains users in particular parts of the world (particularly in SE Asia and some in Australia). This is particularly difficult to troubleshoot since these ads are regional and we haven't seen any of the sort here on this side of the world. We've talked to our sponsors and they've enabled some changes but we'll have to wait and see if they work. In the meantime, we need your help if you've seen any of these inappropriate ads. If you're one of the affected, answering these questions in the comments would help us greatly:
- When was the last time you saw an inappropriate ad?
- What browser are you using?
- Are you on desktop or mobile?
- If you see another one, could you take a screenshot and send a link to us? This would help immensely.
- From which country are you viewing the site from when seeing these inappropriate ads?
We know it's a fair number of questions but it would help us a great deal. We'd love to take down all ads in the future and be independent of them but they're the only way to pay for the servers at the moment. We're really appreciative of your patience during this time. Thanks in advance!
