having been raised in difficult family circumstances, cara has learnt to see through people and learn how cruel the world can be. therefore she is 100% genuine to everybody she meets, and hopes they are all the same back to her. when her mum remarried her australian step-dad, cara was hesitant, but she quickly realised her new dad was the most genuine down to earth person ever, and cara has tried to learn from him ever since.
independence is something cara learned when growing up in china. most of the kids there were going places all by themselves, and cara had to learn with them. with her mum busy with her baby brother and her dad at work most of the time, cara learnt how to be less reliant on others. cara will only accept help if she actually cannot do the task or if it's impractical to do so.
when cara watched her first live basketball game with her basketball loving father she fell in love with the sport straight away. her love for sport was influenced by her dad, who was always going swimming and to the gym. by the time she was 13, she could run faster than most of the boys in her class, swim faster, and most definetly play basketball with more skill and agility than anyone has seen. but she is considered short, so she is disadvantaged in most sports. cara started to dance when she was 14. she injured her arm and could not play basketball, so she was at home, and started to watch dance covers of kpop songs. with cara's natural sportiness she picked up dance super quick and has loved it.
cara has always strived to be on top, her motto is 'to be the best, you have to do the best'. she works extremely hard until she drops, but sometimes she doesn't get what she aimed for, and that puts her mood down heaps. she can sulk for days in her room, maybe go in a mini-depression if she worked so hard for something she didn't get. she thinks her high ambitions is her greatest weakness.

background: cara had a very rocky childhood, with her mother and father constantly arguing, so she was left alone. she moved to china when her mother met her australian step-father, who was promoted to work in shanghai. cara was only 6 at the time, and had difficulties moving to a whole new country.
she worked hard learning chinese and english, fell in love with sport and studied diligently. cara is closest to her step-dad, bonding between their love of sport and funny and quirky characterists. she was a tomboy, playing sport all the time, not really caring about how she looked. when she turned 14, she was bullied at school because she had no friends who were girls, so she decided to make a slow change, she developed a liking for makeup and fashion quickly, and made all her old clothes suit her new style. however, she is still much more comfortable hanging out with guys than girls, not due to interests but due to the fact that girls always seem like they are judging you.
her dad is fluent in chinese, so is her mum, as she studied in china in her university days. her little brother danny is a cheeky little bugger, with the typical halfie good looks. he gets what he wants with his big hazel eyes and dusty brown hair.

trainee history:
after winning a basketball game, cara started to sing and dance 'i am the best - 2ne1', a scout came up to her after and asked her if she wanted to audition for sm entertainment. after this, cara was accepted and invited to korea. as a 15 year old, her parents were very skeptical about this decision but they let her go and stay with her auntie provided she would come back if she wasn't successful. cara trained hard for two years, trying to keep up with studies while training. at first, she was overwhelmed with all the friendly and some not so friendly swarm of girl trainees, but gradually got used to it and changed heaps, becoming the cool and kind of girly girl she is now. she has many trainee aquaintances, but none of them friends.
cara's voice didn't become amazing without her training. she practiced for hours on end, filling whatever practice room with her singing. although her singing style is super quirky and can sometimes be very confusing to make out the words, the pure richness of her voice embraces all. when performing, her outgoing personality is heightened, connecting with the audience.

personality: tao's the spastic chinese wushu guy in exo. always clinging onto his big brother kris, nobody can tear them apart. he is independent, and likes to take strolls at the beach by himself.
backstory: tao was present at the smtown shanghai auditions (idek how and why but yeah), and backstage before cara was supposed to go up, she dropped her charm bracelet while hurrying backstage. tao walking behind her, saw the bracelet fall off and ran to give it to her, also giving her the nickname 'charm', because he thought she had a certain charm about her.
after meeting tao and getting accepted into sm, cara was alone for a few months, until she met kris and tao (again), playing basketball near their apartments. kris and tao were awed at her amazing skills and started talking to her. after finding out she could speak chinese and also english, kris and tao and cara became fast friends, always hanging out together when they have time. however this was in semi-secret, because if all the other girl trainees knew, cara would probably be dead meat.
when they (and kris) first became friends, cara didn't know which one she was attracted to, both boys were equally as handsome and both had great personalities. so she just went with her feelings and didn't try to think about it too much. (although deep down inside she knows she likes tao in that way)
