Sasaengs.

[x-posted from my Kpop Tumblr]

Okay, so this is a rant.  And I’m not going to hide it behind a ‘read more’ because this is IMPORTANT.

Sasaeng fans, the crazy ones who stalk their idols and supposedly shave their heads to get into the men’s bathroom, the ones who give their idols toys with cameras embedded, or drinks spiked with medication or superglue, who break their idol’s fingers and generally terrorize them until they’re no longer willing to give anything to us…

STOP REBLOGGING AND SPREADING THE RUMORS.

Whether they are true or not, sasaengs do what they do to get attention—from their oppar, from their friends, and from other fans—negative and positive.  Every time we reblog a rumor or spread it around that a crazy fan did something to an idol, it reinforces their determination to continue to do inappropriate things. In addition, it inspires other sasaengs to continue their bad behavior, since it garners attention so widely.

Secondly, each time you reblog a rumor, true or false or generally unconfirmed, you are reinforcing the stereotype that we are all just like these poorly behaved sasaengs.  When that unconfirmed information—because let’s face it, unless it’s from the horse’s mouth (the idol him/herself), you do not know if it really happened—gets reblogged and sloshed around and mucked through and edited, it reflects on YOU, too, you peaceful Exotic/Cassie/Blackjack/insert fandom here.

I know I am not a sasaeng, YOU know you’re not a sasaeng, but the rest of the world does NOT know you’re not a sasaeng, so stop spreading the sasaeng hate around, giving them attention, and generally damning yourself and the others around you.

Please share this if you feel compelled, because I am so sick of seeing false things being spread around.  We are EXOtics and we need to take care of each other, not bring the whole fandom down.
