pimp post for elly ^^

i apologize for any random ramblings and a potentially extremely long blog post about exo because i am VERY ENTHUSIASTIC about these twelve idiots 

so. exo. there are so many things i have to say about exo. mostly along the lines of they are idiotic life ruiners who bring along pain and suffering to all fans. this description probably applies to all groups. um. 

pre-debut

so first of all, sm decided it would be a wonderful idea to go through a grueling 23 TEASER REGIME AND NOT DEBUT FOR ALMOST HALF A YEAR because sm is a troll and sm loves causing us pain and suffering, etc. etc. for smtown orchestra in gayo 2011, exo members tao, kai, and luhan appeared, although of course, their names weren't released yet. then came what is love and history, except surprise surprise!! guess what!! sm decides to promote two groups - exo-k and exo-m. as it has been repeated over and over again in interviews (you'd think people would figure it out by themselves, sm dear), the k stands for korean and m stands for mandarin. and of course, as sm explains to everyone in interviews, this means that the members of exo-k will be singing in korean, and the members of exo-m will be singing in mandarin!! shocking!!

and because there are multiple versions of each mv, i have to individually list them out and link them because they're all different and /screeches angrily

what is love: [korean version] [chinese version] in this mv, there are only two people singing in each version - baekhyun and d.o for k, chen and luhan for m. basically, the two members sing in a hut(??) of sorts and sm edits in a bunch of scenes from the 23 teasers. the clothing is quite interesting. not much can be said about this song except for the fact that the instrumental is extremely repetitive and sm really didn't put much effort into this mv (editing teaser scenes together ahem).

history: [korean version] [chinese version] in which exo shakes their pant pockets and dance. we are introduced to baekhyun's extravagant eyeliner, which will give him the name of eyeliner prince, which still sticks around today even though he doesn't. wear. eyeliner. that. much. at. all. compared to mblaq in the cry mv, he doesn't wear nearly enough eyeliner. heh.

then of course, sm decided it would be a great idea to just hold off of debut forever. finally, exo had a showcase (sm kindly provided eng subs for once) right before debut in korea and china (with leeteuk as the mc ;w;). after 823094823984023 years of waiting, we finally had a debut!

debut - mama era

on april 8th, 2012, exo debuted and the end of our lives began c:

mama: [korean version] [chinese version] sm decided it would a great idea to stick exo with an alien concept, so in both mvs, we get to see each individual member's special power!! ._. the cg effects are quite good, but what i notice is that exo has a very distinct music style. their promoted singles are all really powerful and not extremely radio friendly, but most of the rest of their album songs are extremely radio friendly. heh. 

also, the beginning of each mv starts with a brilliantly animated section, with the famous line of "when the skies..." here's my advice to you:

ain't nobody got time for that

you can watch it the first time through if you would like but along with the strange sm engrish and the fancy animations - watching it once is enough for a lifetime, trust me. just skip to the actual song. and for all of exo's mvs, you should watch both versions because each version has different scenes and shots of different members c: except for the drama version - it's the exact same thing each time lol.

exo began appearing on shows!! tbh the most interesting shows for me to watch during this era were happy camp (exo-m) and sukira (exo-k). debut exo was kind of awkward and cute but awkward. like. awkward. and of course, ot12 on happy camp was really nice. and yes, i've watched every single mama era exo-m interview/show video which took FOREVER and was quite painful and most of them were really awkward so uh ._. (the benefits of being chinese so no need for subs heh)

another extremely cute video was released - i present you the exo-k traffic safety song, which is ridiculously adorable c: also, exo performed mama in sm's drama to the beautiful you. which is a cute drama, full of attractive minho and adorable hyunwoo. hehe.

waiting for comeback era

sm decided to hold off the comeback forever (between debut and comeback, i'm starting to see a pattern here). this was a dark, dark time. exo comeback jokes became very numerous. the exo fandom got so desperate we even started fangirling over exo fanboys and shipping them. let's not talk about this painful era. however, a good thing was that maxstep (ft. kai and luhan) and spectrum (ft. kai and lay) came out. also, a samsung cf. you know a fandom is desperate when the only source of joy it gets is from cfs because there ARE NO OTHER VIDEOS. in addition, exo filmed a cf with juniel for some drink. the only thing i have to say about this cf is exo in school uniforms is unf but it's a...questionable cf....i don't understand any of it erm like is chanyeol trying to save the can from being drunk?? -.-"

comeback!! xoxo/wolf era

okay, so truth to be told, wolf was leaked online and the audio was altered and people heard it and died laughing because what?!?!? was it even?!?!? fortunately, the actual song unaltered is a lot more bearable. but!! finally!! comeback!! ahhhh!! on june 1st, exo came back with the album xoxo (kisses & hugs) with wolf as the promoting single. the concept was schoolboy/wolf which i don't understand at all but tbh the first teaser was slightly embarrasing ._.

wolf: [korean version] [chinese version] [drama version] the drama version is the same for both korean and chinese except for the language of the background songs so i linked to the chinese version because it needs!! more views!! wolf has extremely questionable lyrics about eating people and cheese and wine, and the drama version is full of luhan flipping across walls. don't ask. just watch. yeah. um. c: at least it's ot12. hehe exo is performing as ot12 for comeback, which makes me happy.

more happy camp, and weekly idol! and comeback was actually a full length studio album but (we really didn't need three versions of wolf in each album please).

and of course, more exo traffic safety songs. these are going to be the death of me like why are you so cute.

repackage - growl era

A REPACKAGE?!?! AFTER NO COMEBACK IN FOREVER?!?!? OH MY GOD?!??!?!

growl: [korean version] [chinese version] so far, only one version of growl is out, but there apparently are three versions in total?? (sm what are you doing). the version that is out so far is actually one of my favorite sm videos - even though it's more exo dancing in a box, it's a one take version and done so well and jakldfjalkjflajksdf /flails maybe we'll get drama version  part two??
