EXO: Fandom
I didn't have any intention to write this blog post before but, after reading the latest article about EXO, I just want to share a piece of my mind here.
Here's the thing.
Super Junior is the first group that pulled me to K-Pop. Eunhyuk is my first bias and I still love him a lot.
Knowing them, I got to learn more about other K-Pop groups. Girls' Generation, SHINee, Big Bang, 2PM, BEAST, INFINITE, and so on.
To make it short, EXO is the newest group to be included in my favorite K-Pop groups list. I don't think I can call myself as a big fan of EXO yet but I can assure you that I really, really like Luhan and Baekhyun.
The first thing that I noticed from EXO is their popularity. They gained so many attention just with video teasers.
I don't mind with people loving the rookie groups even though I'm not one of them. In fact I never fell in love with a group from their debut. I usually have them in my favorite list a year after their debut.
EXO is no exception. I like their songs but I never bothered with their updates before.
However I did notice their fans are no jokes. I don't know the specific reason of why but EXO really have many fans even compared to other rookie groups.
Putting that aside, they also gain hateful comments more than other groups as well. Even when they got their first win on music show, I read so many comments about possibility of SM to bribe the shows or other bad stuffs.
I didn't put any thought of it because, just like BEAST which is my favorite group, the more people love you, there will be people who hate you as the opposite.
I understand that very well.
The problem is EXO have so many immature fans that I just can't believe how ruined the fandom is. No, I know not all EXO's fans are immature but, like what people said, some could reflect the whole.
This is what happening.
Some keep saying that EXO is the best rookie group, bashing B.A.P. who is also incredibly amazing rookie group. Some others are too excited that a music show must banned them from attending the program. Some fans said and did whatever they wanted without thinking of other people.
For example, the latest sad news I heard, when Super Junior's Ryeowook sang together with D.O on yesterday's radio, some people asked Ryeowook to stop singing and just let D.O to sing alone.
Seriously? They are a senior and a junior. Screw it. They are friends.
I don't know what kind of feeling D.O and other EXO's members have when they find out about this. Ryeowook tried to enlighten the situation but, please, what would you feel if you're in his shoes?
EXO deserves to be loved but none of their fans have the right to hate on others. Respect. Where is it?
I don't know if they are just too immature or what but they definitely don't think about others' feelings. This is another reason why people hate EXO even more.
Because their fans are rude, immature, childish, delusional.
I can't defend EXO's fans with all these happenings. I want to because I know even more EXO's fans also don't like this situation but how can we do it when there are so many bad news coming?
Sadly I have no idea how to solve this problem. I'm not the best fan out there but I will never say anything bad about other fandoms or groups; leave alone being too biased and delisional.
How can I stop those immature and rude fans to stop hurting others and EXO themselves with childish acts?
How can I stop all those anti-fans to stop throwing hate on EXO when they always find new reasons to hate EXO?
How can I stop the sasaeng fans that ruining EXO's private life and the fandom's reputation?
I'm a B2UTY and, please note that I'm not comparing them, I never went through this kind of situation in BEAST's fandom so, really, I don't know what to do.
I really want to help EXO as a fan but... I don't know how. :(
Hopefully EXO's fans will be more mature in the future, so EXO will receive more love and less hate. :)
