profile picture « full name » — Kim Hyunjung
« preferred name » — Hyunjung
« nicknames » — Boseu (Boss): when she was younger and played with her friends, she always insisted on being in charge of everything. They started calling her that out of annoyance, but she rather liked it, and so it stuck.

« birthdate + age » — 11/10/88 + 24 years
« ethnicity » — Korean
« languages » — Korean (fluent): mother tongue, learned it at home/at school/surroundings/etc. Latin (really basic, okay at verb conjugations but not noun declensions): tried to self-study it because she thought it would help her with knowing medicine

« occupation » — med school student (second year)

« apartment no. » — room 540, floor 5
« roommates with » — Jongdae

« short bio » — she suffered through pre-med and decided to be masochistic and just go through with the entire career path.  if nothing else, you have to admire her dedication. when she's not too busy dying, she can be found yelling at people and acting like she's from the 'hood.

« second choice » — Kwon Su Jeong
« visuals » — 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | gallery

« appearance » — She's about 166 cm tall, weighs around 53 kgs, with straight black hair usually tied in a ponytail. She has a lip piercing and an eyebrow piercing, but her ears aren't pierced.

« style » — Tends to go for slightly radical "rebel" or "gothic" clothing. She loves black, leather, and anything with spikes. Normally, she wears a simple beaded choker. She also has a fondness for fingerless gloves. If she's at a more formal setting, she doesn't go nearly as outlandish - she'll still have on a choker, but she'll normally be wearing a white shirt and grey slacks or something. She also likes heels because she wants to be taller.

« what makes you, you. »
« in a nutshell » — She's bossy, blunt, and forceful. She likes to be in charge, and she likes to be active.

« the complete story » — Let's say that you're hanging out with one of Hyunjung's friends. You guys aren't doing much, just talking, maybe over a cup of coffee or something. You ask them, off-handedly - "do you know Kim Hyunjung?"
Most likely, they'd stare at you and then guffaw. "Oh, man, her? She's scary. I mean, she's nice, I guess, but she's scary. You know, this one night, we were talking about what to get for dinner. Half of us wanted to go to a samgyeopsal place, and the other half wanted to just get ddeokbeokki or some other street food. We talked about it for about ten minutes before Hyunjung got fed up with us. She grabbed our coats, literally chucked them at us, and pushed us out the door, saying 'You know what? We're going to get mandu, so now shut up.' That was the end of that, really."

That's not a one-time event, either. Hyunjung doesn't like it when people take too long to make decisions. She thinks that it's better to just come up with something and stick with it rather than dally along, debating all the little pros and cons. She doesn't like admitting that she's wrong, though, which is a side effect of her sticking to her guns. Her rush decisions aren't always right, and she's never willing to admit that she may be mistaken.

She likes to be in charge. She hates it when people tell her what to do, because it makes her feel powerless. She'd never be content with being a lackey because she'd rather have the freedom to make decisions for herself. She hates it when people are overbearing. In her opinion, she's a powerful, independent woman that can protect herself perfectly well.

Hyunjung doesn't believe in "saving things for later" or procrastinating. She prefers to live in the moment, taking on problems one at a time. She's not very good at long-term planning, but she's good at short-term goals. Her long-term memory isn't that great, either, so she keeps a planner where she jots down important dates and meetings and such.

« the history » — She grew up in Daegu, surrounded by friends and family. All of her friends were kind of meek and quiet and nice and never got anything done. Hyunjung, who was more forceful and deliberate and yelled at boys if they splattered her with mud, found herself in a leading position among her friends a lot. She grew to like it and eventually started automatically assuming leadership.
When she was 9, she intelligently jumped off of a jungle gym and broke a tibia. Her parents took her to the hospital. After she stopped freaking out long enough to take note of her surroundings, she fell in love with the hospital. She thought that all of the machines and the drugs and the CAT scans and everything were insanely interesting. That was when she first got the idea to work in medicine when she grew up.

« lifestyle » — She sets her alarm for 6:30 with a ten-minute snooze. She allows herself to hit the snooze button three times before getting up, changing, and going out for a 15-minute morning jog. After her jog, she wakes up her cousin (usually by ripping his covers off, taking his pillow away, and then bodily dragging him off of the bed. If he isn't up by then, she just leaves him on the ground because "not her problem"). She takes a shower, washing her hair every other day, and then goes downstairs and has breakfast. Usually, it's some kind of sweetened cereal or egg toast. If her cousin is up, she'll get breakfast for him, too.

After breakfast, she drives to her school/work. Along the way, she stops at a coffee shop and gets a hazlenut macchiato with whipped cream. In the morning, it's a more classroom/lecture setting; she learns about diseases and such. She has lunch right around noon, sometimes closer to 1. She either goes to the university cafeteria or a nearby cafe. Lunch ranges from a sandwich and soup to pizza to some kind of stew. She likes to get ice cream or patbingsoo as a dessert. Sometimes, she'll get another coffee, but she'll normally get this one decaf because she doesn't want to be all jittery for the rest of the day.

After school, she goes back to her apartment, picks up her laptop, and drives to the university library. She usually spends a good three hours in the library, researching out-of-class and taking notes and doing homework. She'll also just read random books or surf the internet if she feels like it. Once in a while, she'll take a nap, because the library's really quiet and calm and generally conducive to sleeping.

At around 4 or 5, she'll head back to the apartment. Jongdae would usually be back, too, so they'd talk about the day. She'd  either continue research/homework, go out somewhere and have fun with Jongdae, or call up some of her friends and they'd go out and have fun somewhere. She'll normally eat dinner around 7 or 8, and she'll use that as extra socialization time. If she continued research/homework, she'd probably either get takeout or make ramyun for dinner, and be a hermit for the rest of the day. She normally gets to bed around 11 at night.

On weekends and during the summer, it's much the same, only she doesn't go to classes and she doesn't set her alarm. She wakes up anywhere from 7:30 to 9:00. She still goes out for a morning jog, but then she usually stays at home afterwards and watches TV or manwhas and just generally lounge around until noon, when she'd eat something and head to the library or back to the apartment for research. If her friends plan an all-day outing, she'd go with them on those.

Hyunjung's financial situation is pretty good. She at cooking and can afford to eat out basically as much as she wants, so that's what she does. If she wants more money, she generally just nags her cousin. Her parents send her money often because they want her to be comfortable while in med school. They've told her multiple times that they expect her to make her own money after she gets a job, though, and maybe she should pay some people back *hint hint wink wink nudge nudge*.

« those you cherish and those you don't. »
« family members » —

father — Kim Hyunki/ 57 / alive / graphics (animation) / He has very high expectations for Hyunjung and still thinks of her as his "little girl".  He's very protective and a little impulsive. Hyunjung thinks he's exasperating but also thinks that he's a good father.

mother — Shin Sookja/ 54 / alive / store clerk / She generally just goes along with whatever her husband says. She's very passive, but thinks that Hyunjung shouldn't be so "wild" and "manly". Hyunjung thinks that her mother should man up. They argue quite a bit.

cousin — Kim Jongdae / 20 / alive / part-time lifeguard, university student / He's pretty laidback and doesn't take much seriously. Hyunjung thinks that he's lazy and annoying, but in the way that little brothers are lazy and annoying. She generally just treats him like a bratty little brother. He usually goes along with what she says because she's "cool". She gets pissed at him whenever he pranks her, though.

« friends and others » —

friend — Lee Jiyun / 23 / alive / barista / She's pretty casual, chatty, and cheerful. She works at a cafe that Hyunjung often frequents - that's how they met. Jiyun collects friends like they're bees and she's a really nice flower, and she likes to hang out with them a lot, so Jiyun was basically Hyunjung's bridge into the world of being social in Seoul.

childhood friend — Jung Kyungmi / 24 / alive / aspiring journalist / When they were children, Kyungmi was a meek, emotional, soft-hearted little wisp of a thing. Now, she's still emotional, but she's also melodramatic and creative and has the most romantic notions about everything. She still calls Hyunjung a lot because they were really close as children and they're still pretty close right now. Hyunjung gets annoyed by her a lot more now, though.

« love interest » — Kim Jongin

« back ups » — Wu Yifan, Park Chanyeol

« personality » — Jongin acts like he thinks he's all that and a bag of chips. He's loquacious and graceful and waxes poetic about basically everything. He talks about dancing like it's good art and literature and food all wrapped up in this glorious heavenly package that everyone must appreciate. Science majors tend not to like him all that much because they don't appreciate having the wonders of dance and literature shoved into their faces 24/7. He's also never afraid to show off; he knows he's good at dancing, so he has problems with being just a little showy at times.
Jongin's never actually cocky. People tend to think he is, with all of his shoving of dance into his faces, but he's actually kind of shy and a serious awkward turtle. He doesn't know what to say a lot, which ends in him blushing and stuttering - part of the reason why he talks about the stuff he loves so much is that he knows what to say. It's like he used up all of his gracefulness to dance well and is now tripping through the rest of his life.
He doesn't like to take unnecesary risks, either, and likes to think things through before making a decision. When he does, like Hyunjung, he tends to stick by it. He's not stubborn, though, and is more than willing to concede the point if given good evidence. He doesn't like to lead or follow, rather making up his own decisions independent from everyone else. He doesn't need the reassurance or support of other people; he's totally fine as a lone wolf.
If Jongin wants to do something, he'll do it or die trying. It's not so much that he's stubborn; it's more that he's dedicated. He goes by the idea of "being proud to put your name on whatever you do". He doesn't like to half- things because he thinks that it's a waste of time, energy, and talent. He will work himself to the point of outright exhaustion if that's what it takes for him to be proud of his work.
If you talk to him long enough to get past his shyness and awkwardness, he's very loyal. He's one of those people who will drop everything for the people they love.
Overall, he's a shy, awkward, softspoken guy who somehow radiates an aura of confidence and cockiness.

Kris: During his time in university, Wu Yifan basically embodied the big man on campus. He was charismatic, rich, sharply dressed, and devastatingly handsome. Girls loved him because he radiated regality and mystery and just a touch of arrogance - he was a "bad boy" without the "bad" part and he was accessible. Guys loved him because he was Good At Everything Including Sports And Getting Some.
Then, he got out of university, and after the shroud of popularity was lifted, it became obvious that he...wasn't all that perfect at everything.
First, it was revealed that, although he was Good At Everything Including Getting Some, he hadn't actually got some. If anyone had bothered to ask any of his two disastrous ex-girlfriends, they would've told them that Yifan had the emotional capacity of a very leaky thimble, the subtlety of a brick, and pick-up lines that would have turned off the horniest, most desperate teenager. Yifan was great at talking with people on a professional level and as friends, but once it got to romance, it went something along the lines of "oh, I forgot it was Valentine's day. Here's a stick I found in the trunk of my car."
Second, it was revealed that he had serious perfectionist tendencies that conflicted with the fact that his handwriting was worse than chicken scratch and his room was a legitimate biohazard containment zone. He would spend the longest time poring over his papers, trying to decide if the word he'd used would work to the extent he wanted it to work. He'd then demand whoever was nearest to him to look over it and ensure that the word really worked that way.
Overall, he's a person who works great on a professional level and then crumbles into a pile of "wtf" on a personal level.

Chanyeol is exuberant and happy and wears "Save The Earth!" shirts that have cute little beavers on them every day. He's generally considered a weirdo for his rather over-the-top mannerisms and general energy, but most people also like him because he's so nice and entertaining in his own way. He's the kind of boyfriend that would go out to a park or something and handpick a bunch of flowers and arrange them himself or make origami lillies instead of buying a pre-made bouquet and a box of chocolates. He doesn't do it because he's romantic, but because he wants to be helpful and because it's more fun for him.
His interpretation of life is "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em". If he's unhappy with something but can't change it, he'll make himself happy with it. Some people might see it as being fickle - he just sees it as going with the flow. He's pretty easygoing in general, but he likes activism movements and equality. He's a total treehugger.

« first meeting » — The day after Hyunjung moved in, she forgot to bring her keys with her while going on a quick shopping expedition. She didn't realize until she went back to the apartment and was in the lobby. When she realized, she went "Oh, ," really loudly, and immediately dropped everything and started rummaging through her bag. People stared at her funny as they walked past, but no one stopped to help her.

She wanted to call Jongdae because he was still in the room, but she couldn't find her cell phone. That led to even more frantic bag searching until someone came up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder.

She whipped around, almost snarling, because she was pretty embarrassed and pissed at that point. "What do you want?" she snapped.

Jongin blinked at her. "Um...are you okay?" he asked.

"No, I'm amazing.  I'm ready to fly kites in here," she said, still snarling.

He started backing up, palms raised defensively. "I'm sorry," he said. "Um...I'll go now, I guess."

Then she realized how much of a she was being, so she sighed and apologized and explained that she'd forgotten her keys and her cell phone and therefore couldn't call her stupid cousin and tell him that she didn't have the key.

Jongin said something along the lines of, "oh, that , I'm sorry. What room are you in?"

"Room 540, floor 5," Hyunjung said, and then Jongin was like "wait, you're Jongdae's cousin? That's great, I actually have his number!"

So then everything ended up great and she ended up back in her room and Jongdae laughed at her for forgetting the keys, and then expressed surprise at being helped by Jongin.

"I don't know, he just doesn't seem like the kind of person that would help random women."

~

Kris: She met Yifan because they were in university together two years ago. She thought he was obnoxiously perfect and therefore tried to avoid him as much as she could. He thought she was this cool older rebel girl that had way too many piercings and was kinf of bossy. They'd never really talked before, though.

Chanyeol: Chanyeol visits the same coffee place that Hyunjung visits, except he usually goes in five minutes earlier and so she usually sees Chanyeol when she's entering and he's leaving. One day, the machine broke down, which resulted in a really backed-up line. Chanyeol decided to wait because he didn't have to get to class for a while, so he was still there when Hyunjung entered. Hyunjung started talking with him because he was standing near him and she'd seen him a couple of times before.

« relationship » — They start out just as acquaintances, where Jongin thinks of her as "Jongdae's cousin who lost her keys that one time" and Hyunjung thinks of him as "that one guy who probably could've been mean but didn't". They meet a couple more times in the apartment, just in the elevator or something. Hyunjung thought that Jongin was probably Jongdae's classmate and treated him accordingly; kind of like a little brother's friend. She offhandedly referred to him as "your friend" to Jongdae one day and Jongdae was like "no, he's not my friend, he's your friend."
Hyunjung was like "I don't spend nearly enough time with him to consider him my friend" and then Jongdae retorted that "you talk about him as much as you talk about Kyungmi and Jiyun". That degenerated into a "no I don't" "yes I do" fight that ended up going absolutely nowhere.
After that, though, she did start to think of Jongin more as "her friend". One day when Jiyun was busy and Jongdae was off cramming for some test, she invited Jongin and his friends out for dinner or something. He agreed. It turned out well and it started becoming a more regular thing.
It really was just a friendship. They treat each other like really close friends and they talk a lot (and argue a lot) together.

Kris: Their relationship is way more tsundere. Essentially, Kris wants her to stop bossing him around, and she wants him to shut up and be a mute robot or something. They learn to appreciate each other and each other's personalities over time, although they still squabble. A ton.

Chanyeol: They bond really quickly because Chanyeol amuses Hyunjung and vice versa. They become partners in crime without the crime and always get coffee and ice cream together because FOOD. They treat each other like best friends and know almost everything about each other because they have no shame in sharing really weird or embarrassing secrets with each other. In this relationship, they acknowledge their imperfections and learn to embrace it.

« conclusion » — At some point, they get close enough that Jongdae's just like "I don't get why you guys aren't dating already." Hyunjung takes this as a dare and asks Jongin out soon after. He surprisingly (or unsurprisingly) says yes. They go out for an undetermined period of time.
Hyunjung gets through med school and gets a residency in the US or Canada or Europe. She decides to go, because her parents want her to and also because she's not really willing to give up her dream job for a boyfriend. She tells Jongin that it was really nice and they should keep in touch and still be in touch, but she wouldn't be able to make a long-distance relationship work. He understands and they part amiably.

Kris: They date for a while, and then they start getting fed up with each other, and they argue, and they hate each others faces. They break up on not-very amiable terms.

Chanyeol: They never really dated, because they'd like to think that their relationship transcends such mortal concepts as "dating". They do, however, keep in touch forever and stay best friends for a very long time. In the distant future, both of them probably get married to different people. They're probably happily married, with children and pets and stable jobs and a beautiful house. Even so, they will still love each other. It won't be a traditional romantic love; it'll be a pure platonic love, bonded by trust and friendship.

« tenant questionnaire. »
« so, why are you moving into these apartments, anyways? » — "I don't originally live here, you know, so I needed a place to stay. My parents didn't want me to stay in a big scary apartment complex on my own, surrounded by evil strangers, and so they sent me to live with my cousin. It's not ideal, I guess, but he's a decent kid. My parents definitely consider it better than living with a stranger."

« are you moving in with a roommate? » — "With my cousin, Kim Jongdae, on the insistence of my lovely parents."

« if yes, can you tell me how you'd interact with your roommate, hypothetically? if no, ignore this question. » — "Hypothetically? I'd boss him around, make him do all of the chores, all of the cooking, all of the cleaning...no, I wouldn't. I'd just treat him like my cousin, like a kind of friend that I can just mess around and be myself with. I mean, it's Jongdae. We've known each other when we were still pissing out diapers - well, he was pissing. I used a big potty by that time."

« will you be able to pay your rent as well as basic necessities on time? » — "Definitely. Why wouldn't I? Jongdae's making some money saving drowning children and my parents send me money all of the time."

« relationship » — Hyunjung acts like an older sister most of the time to Jongdae. She doesn't nag him because he actually tends to be cleaner than she is. Hypothetically, if he was messy, she would nag him. She tries to make him do all of the household chores and buy groceries and such, but he'll just roll his eyes at her and they get split pretty evenly in the end. Jongdae teases Hyunjung a lot and tries to prank her, but she's spent enough time with him in the past to catch him in the middle of setting up a prank. She doesn't put up with his crap a lot of the time and he knows it. It goes the other way around, too - Hyunjung can boss Jongdae around all she wants, but all she'll ever get in return is an eyeroll and a "Whatever, mom." They both love and support each other but aren't afraid to annoy and tease each other as well.

« tying up loose ends. »
« comments and more » — sorry for the horrible theme song. i'm so bad at those. i actually almost used "my chick bad" by ludacris. that's how bad i am at it.

« scene suggestions » —
jongdae teasing hyunjung and jongin for being totally incapable of being proper girlfriends/borfriends. bonus points if chen had a girlfriend when he's saying this.
hyunjung failing at diagnosing illnesses properly because she'd be a horrible diagnostician amirite
or where jongin/yifan/chanyeol/jongdae/jiyun/someone else gets sick and hyunjung slowly gets convinced that it's a HORRIBLE RESPIRATORY DISEASE THAT WILL DESTROY EVERYTHING and then it's just like allergies or something
or when jongin practices dancing and pulls a muscle or lands really weird and fractures something and hyunjung freaks out really badly. bonus points if he breaks his leg and then hyunjung feels compelled to tell him the story of how she decided to become a doctor.
one of the exo boys forgets his keys and hyunjung helps him out and feels nostalgic. bonus points if it's jongin.
hyunjung meets sehun. neither of them are impressed. jongin awkwardly tries to smooth things over and doesn't do a very good job of it.
(for chanyeol): they buy a bunch of Save the Earth! t-shirts and tie-dye them so they become Save the Earth!t-shirts of Super Epic Amazing Neonness
(for chanyeol): jongdae buys an espresso machine or something. fun coffee-making hijinks ensue.
someone tries to teach hyunjung how to play starcraft or some other game and she fails so badly at it that the only thing the other person can do is laugh hysterically

"he's all that and a bag of chips"
that is a wonderful expression. i will be using that and not quoting you for it. sorry not sorry.
