personality. Hyunsoo is the epitome is perfection. Having been one of the earliest trainees in the agency, there is not one thing he does not excel in. He is a natural, and it's because of this that he is regarded with respect and malice. He has the same relaxed, indifferent composure at all times, as if nothing even affects him and doesn't really take anything seriously. He sees the missions assigned to him as somewhat like a game, and he never loses. Though he doesn't display it, he does have a little bit of a competitive trait sometimes when he feels like it, and if he does, he makes it a point to win and make it seem as if he did it without any real effort. At times, he can be described as ditzy and a daydreamer, but as long as he gets his jobs done, no one really cares. He is not neccesarily arrogant, but that his cool aloofness leads others to believe so. He is also very antsy and cannot ever stay still. He always has to move and gets agitated when he is forced to stay still.

On missions, he is no different except that he seems more eager. Often times, he is rash with absolutely no regard for his teammates. Because he views missions as games, he believes the target is the goal to win and does everything in his power to win. He always seems to wander off to go do his own thing and doesn't like to follow the plan or regulations. He marches to his own drum. From those that have been on assassination missions with him, they come back with disturbed hearts and bewildered looks. This is stemmed from the fact that on assassination missions, he always manages to be the one who kills the target, and when he does, he is uninhibited, twisted, mental. Because of his past experiences, he tends to enjoy killing now, even smiling and looking the target straight in the eyes. After that, there are many ways he likes to murder the victim. Sometimes, he likes to kill them agonizingly slow by cutting them or cutting out their organs alive. With each victim, he likes to think of new ways torture them; he considers that the "creative" part of his job. Then, when finishing up, he goes back to his original composure, only now with a content smile on his lips.

One could call him mental. After all, he takes pleasure in torture and mangling. Seeing multiple deaths and tortures and much more just does something to you, but he has never been tested for it. In every moment he finds that the peace is too prolonged, he gets highly agitated and flits of memories come back to him, as much as he hates it. Some nights, when he's feeling especially low, he tortures himself with memories of his experiences, and when in an uncharted territory in his life where he can't understand anything going on, he flees to his memories for comfort because they're familiar even if they are mashing and tearing and ing up his heart. Inside, he a an emotional show paired with agonizing contortionists and stabbing sword-swallowers, but he doesn't let himself know that. If he admits how much of a mess he is, he'll be facing the music, and he thinks it'll absolutely and utterly destory him.

Hyunsoo is conceited, caring only about himself and his needs. He doesn't have time for anyone else and always feels the need to do something or stir something up when he is bored or has nothing to do. Honestly, the only time he derives happiness and excitement is from going out on missions constantly, which is why he always asks for them back-to-back. He doesn't let himself rest because rest can lead to unplesant memories and why can't he just die on one of these missions? That is his ultimate wish - to have someone kill him in vain. He never imagines himself as the hero and probably never will, but who cares? He'd rather be the bad guy, misunderstood by anyone and everyone. After all, he lives just to die, so in his mind, nothing really matters.

the story behind the codename. Catharsis means purging of the emotions or relieving of emotional tensions. Because of his memories, he has building guilt and is an emotional show inside, When he kills, it feels as if he is uninbited and relaxed and purged from all his emotional stress. He did not adopt this code name until age 13; before, he was simply known as Hail, referring to the storm.

rank. S -- He has trained since the age of seven and has gone on missions from the age of 12. His abilites are highly ranked, and he is highly skilled with his accuracy to finish missions. He is also one of the most experienced and knows the rights and wrongs on a mission. He is laid-back, indifferent, and sometimes lazy, but he always gets the job done (though sometimes not the way the agency wants it to be done and with some casualties), Though he has more leverage over the lower ranked agents, he particualrly doesn't really care what happens to them and does not act like a leader when on a mission. He prefers to go solo and do whatever he wants.

before the agency. Born as an illigetimate child of a e and a wealthy business man, Hyunsoo never had much of a childhood. His mother was always out working, and he was always left alone in their rickey house on the curb of a bad neighborhood. When he was five, Social Services forcefully took him away from his mother and sent him to a foster home. For two years, he would be moved from foster home to foster home, and one day, he ran away. Hyunsoo tried looking for his mother, but when he had found their old home, he saw the large evicted sticker pasted on their front door.

With no home, Hyunsoo refused to go back to his foster parents, for they were just money-grubbing adults who barely even took care of him. In order to survive, he began stealing and other crimes. Eventually, he was caught, and the government decided that instead of putting in a foster home (because he was just going to do the same thing), they would insert him in the Lost Children Unit to utilize his potential. And so, at the age of seven, Lee Hyunsoo was officially a trainee for LCU.

initiation. Well, after seeing his criminal records, they assumed that he had the potential to learn the skills and techniques required to be an agent of the LCU. However, they were still quite unsure of this potential and were wary if he would dedicate himself to the LCU and the success of his missions. To confirm, they put Hyunsoo through a series of tests, similar to missions. For instance, in order to validate his potential, they put him in a room that had the ability to change environments with a click of a button. They tested him adaptability to changing weather and also changing situations. For example, at one point, he was stuck in a forest landscape in which the humidity was at its highest, and during his time in that environment, he was attacked with rabid animals and hallucinating comrades. They gave him situations where he had to potentially sacrifice a comrade in order to get a mission completed. When validating his dedication to The Agency, they put him in a a simulation in a machine where it forces your brain to hallucinate. In the simulation, he felt as if he had been beaten to the point of near-death; at that point, they inserted two paths. One of the paths lead to his mother, who was coaxing in a gentle voice that she would make everything better, and in the other was a gun. He picked the gun.

secrets.

He killed a comrade in cold blood before for the sake of the mission's success, and he made up the cause of death later on at The Agency.
His nightmares are replays of his life in a little more dramatic flavor.
Sometimes, when the pain and guilt is too hard to bear, he cuts himself on his stomach where no one can see.
He longs for someone to understand him and is lonely.
Anything about his cruel memories and the gruesome things he's seen
Time and time again, he's gotten comrades killed on missions but is given leeway because of his skill and accuracy as an agent.
He knows more dead people than ones alive.
At one point, he had a best friend. It is his death that Hyunsoo regrets the most because he was the cause of it.

RELATIONSHIPS

your trainer.

T.O.P -- They are like family. They're not close enough to share a bond similar to those of brothers, but they share a similar bond of cousins. They're familiar and friendly and ready to learn from one another, but they don't indulge in each others' troubles or issues. They understand each other shallowly and feel as if that is enough. Because they know each other so well, they need not words to express what the want to say to one another.

your partner. A male character with a laid-back and uncaring personality would fit best with Hyunsoo. He needs to be of high caliber to be able to communicate to Hyunsoo naturally through a higher ability and knowledge, regardless of rank. They don't talk much, and when they do, it's to communicate the details of the mission. They do this in the least words possible, leading to choppy sentences with words that you have to connect into sentences. For instance, "Rocky Mountains. Assassination. Drug lord's vacation." They also make an occasional snarky sentence to one another with unnecessary cuss words about the most randomest of subjects. For example, "That hat makes your hair look more astic than it was before," or "That Russian looks like he just ing had rough with a damn vodka bottle." Their relationship is basically the same as distant friends who don't know each other well.

other lost children. They think he's the most selfish thing to walk on this planet. Some hate him for his lack of teamwork, his brutality, or even his disturbing trait. Others hate him for his supposed arrogance, and the way he seems to carry himself without a care in the world even after committing heinous acts. Though he does get the mission done, other agents around him find that he is hurtful to the success of the mission just because he can up the mission by doing what he does. He is also described as heartless because of how unmericful and uncaring he is.

love interests.

Female applicant (if possible) or Ailee -- He finds her laughable and a joke as one of the highest ranked agents, such as himself. He thinks that despite her strict work ethic and determination, it will all go down the drain the future somehow, someway. He also thinks that even though she put up such hard work, no one will give a damn. Honestly, he thinks she's absolutely annoying because she goes through this crap for no reason and thinks that she's stupid for not seeing that. However, deep down, he actually respects how she climbed her way to be one of the best agents in the company and is a bit jealous that he didn't achieve it the way she did.

Kris Wu -- He discovers Kris to be a total uptight, stick-up-his- perfectionist. He thinks Kris is annoying to the point of wanting to rip his hair out just because everything has to be perfect with this guy, and he wants to tear this guy's guts out of his body and put it in his brain. He just wants to get his point across to Kris that not everything and everyone is perfect and to shut the up and leave everything the way it is because it's getting on his damn nerves. Though he feels and thinks this way, he is unconciously jealous on the inside because in his eyes, Kris is perfection and wonders and amazing, and he is, was, and never will be able to be good enough for someone as great as Kris.

rivals. Himself -- He is his own rival because it's too hard to let someone in his ed up world and in his torn-to-shreds, brusied, mashed, jaggedly cut heart; it's too hard to let go of his own past. He refuses to move on or to even give a glimpse of his heart to someone. He is too closed off. It's not that he intentionally pushes his love interest away; it's that he's too closed up that they leave. He also finds it below himself to even leave himself vulnerable to hurt, and his pride will not let him even admit that he loves that person, leading to his unknowing of the sudden onslaught of emotions he experiences when his love interest is around.

anything else?

You can pick whoever you want to be his love interest. It doesn't matter to me if he's straight or homoual or if his female love interest is Ailee or another

female applicant. Also, for either love interest, their relationship is kind of intense. It's like they don't really even need words to communicate. It's like they

know what each other is thinking just by looking at them and sensing the atmosphere around them.

Also, I beg of you not to give up on this story as many other authors have (like me). I look forward to your future chapters and for each of the characters'

personality to shine through!
