Aboutmenow

PersonalityIf you were to compare Sung Joowan to any character—whether it be a real character or a cartoon—almost everyone has to agree that Disney Pixar’s Wall-E is the only choice. Being an oblivious boy, he was quickly labeled as stupid and naïve which made people take advantage of him. He usually doesn’t known what is going on around him and is often reminded to pay attention by his peers or anyone around him. Trusting to easily, Joo (a nickname others began calling him) began making friends very easily, but he was often left in the dust to cry alone and to pick up his broken pieces to mend himself again—alone. Though he is rather air-headed, Joowan is sensitive and he hides a lot of his feelings under his happy mask because he doesn’t want to burden others with his problems. He isn’t afraid though, to hide his confusion about objects or people. If he’s confused or curious about something, he’ll go up to it and look at it closely. He has been harassed by many fans because of the proximity and their “fangirl feels”. Though Joowan may leave hints here and there that he likes you, do not be mislead, he actually isn’t looking for any kind of love right now, he’s merely showing that he likes you as a friend.

Though he made lots of friends easily during his trainee days, he doesn’t actually consider them his real friends. After so many years of others calling him stupid and making fun of him during high school, he tries not to trust too easily, but, unfortunately, sometimes he can’t help himself and those he trusts like that (snaps fingers) are the ones that hurt him most. Though he doesn't consider his friends true friends, he still finds himself helping them out and lending them money for whatever reason it may be. He has gone broke a few times because of them. Joo may not know it, but his classmates always cared deeply for him. They were just brash and never told him that he was a good friend or that he was nice. He always believed that they were making fun of him and that they hated him, but he hid his pain and thoughts though, so that others don’t see and keeps smiling at every one and curiously checking things out. Someday though, and he fears this day, he’s going to break—to snap. He just hopes it won’t be soon.

Characters backgroundBorn in Busan, South Korea, Joowan was raised by a loving, yet firm and rich family. He grew up poor, so he never asked for much, but his dream always to become a dancer. His parents, thinking it was just a phase, let him continue with his “childish dreaming”, but as he got older and began to focus more on dancing than his studies, they decided that it was too much. They began pushing him to let go of his dreams and to focus on becoming the head of the company they owned (Sung Enterprise: Video Gaming = Way of Life). When he was in his last year of middle school, he decided to enter the talent show for fun. He had a lot of people “rooting” for him, though he was aware of the fact that they just wanted to see him make a fool of himself in front of the whole school. Tickets had sold out very quickly and students began sneaking in just to see him. Luckily, his parents had been able to get tickets, so they were there for sure. He ended up losing to a violinist, but he got second which made him feel proud of himself. His parents, of course, were happy that his dancing was so good, but then they noticed that he had a better chance of getting into an entertainment company and immediately prohibited him from dancing ever again. Annoyed by that, he rebelled. In his first year of high school, he auditioned for SM Entertainment. He was turned down which made him feel a bit crushed, but with the encouragement of his classmates (they wanted to be friends with the “rich and famous boy”), he then tried YG Entertainment. Again, he was turned down. After a couple more tried with SM and YG, he finally gave up. Fortunately for him, one of his classmates dragged him on their last day of school to a JYP Audition and made him audition. It wasn’t his choice, but if it weren’t for this certain classmate, he wouldn’t have received the call a few days later telling him that he had been accepted as a trainee. The real problem was his parents. He was trainee secretly for three years, but when he found out he was going to debut, he knew that he was going to have to tell them. He had spoken about his problems with JYP and he told him that he was going to have to say something, or he wasn’t allowed to debut. Rather heavy hearted, he revealed the news to his parents. They were shocked, of course, but when Joo started crying, they knew that maybe it was best to leave him for now. Joowan swore to his parents that he would make them proud and become famous and that when he retired, he would be the head of Sung Enterprise, so that the company would go on.

I want you to meet my family: [name, age, occupation, relationship to your character and a brief personality]

Sung Daesung | 47 | CEO of Sung Enterprise | Father | Daesung is a kind man, but he has a bad temper. He at first didn't support Joo's dream of becoming a dancer, but later on supported it. He talks a lot and sometimes gets on people's nerves. Nevertheless, he's incredibly smart and he wonders why Joo isn't exactly the smartest.

Sung Ji Na | 45 | No occupation | Mother | Ji Na is a stay-at-home mom. She takes care of the house and keeps the maids company. She's completely fine with staying home alone and though Daesung doesn't want to admit it, she has the pants in their relationship. Ji Na is a firm woman who is completely independent of her husband and wants the best for her only son.

I love my best friend: Kim Kibum [OC]

How did we meet, you ask?: Kibum was the one who dragged Joo to the JYP auditions. He was the only one who stuck by Joowan for as long as they could remember. They met when Joo was sad about one of his friendships falling apart and Kibum was walking around after a gang fight.

The reason he/she is my bestie: Kim Kibum, though he’s considerably smarter than Joowan grade-wise, his life choices make their stupidity leveled. Kibum started drinking and smoking at the age of 17 and though Joo was against it, he let it slide and hoped that Kibum would come to his senses. He is also often involved in fights both inside and outside of school, but most of those fights were to stand up for Joowan, which made the latter feel guilty. They both met when they were both 13 and were in the same class when Joo got told off by one of his ex-friends and made him cry in the middle of class. Whilst everyone had gone out to gym, Joo stayed in the classroom and Kibum stayed with him to comfort him. It was a sweet moment. They’ve been friends every since then.

I also love my friend: Oh Sehun

How did we meet, you ask?: They met during Joo's audition for SM Entertainment when Joo got lost. It was comical watching him hyperventilate, so other trainees wouldn't help him. Luckily for him, Sehun decided to end his misery and point him in the right direction. They bumped into each other a couple more times at bubble tea shops or various stores after Joo was recruited by JYP. They exchanged numbers and soon they were often hanging out-- he, Kibum, and Sehun.

The reason he/she is my friend: Sehun is rather quiet. He's impassive about many things, but if you insult someone that's close to him, he gets annoyed and he kind of snaps. His weakness is bubble tea and you could bribe him to do almost everything if it includes bubble tea.

Hate is a big word, but I dislike: Taemin

You might know her/him from: SHINee

The reason he/she makes me want to tear off my hair: It's not like they hated each othe-- actually, Joo doesn't know much about him, but it's almost as if Joo wants to be a better dancer than Taemin. He wants to prove to everyone that he can dance just as good every professional dancer, even if he didn't take dance classes and just learned from various videos on online.

MyIdollife

I've been a trainee for: 3 years

My life as a trainee: Joowan was taken advantage of as he was in JYP. He was treated harshly by instructors because of his tendency of being late (because of school since it was a secret from his parents). He auditioned for SM and YG various times before Kim Kibum dragged him to a JYP audition. Though he used up most of his money buying random items for other trainees and staying up late at night for practice just to wake up early the next day for school, he had a fun time. Balancing his training and school didn't turn out well though, and his grades plummeted.

On stage I'm known as: Boo

My fans dubbed me the: Curios Cat

My personal fanclub is named: Kitties

My fanclub colors are: #9966ff
