Background: She doesn't have any memory about her biological parents because they passed away when Rebecca was only a year old. They got involved in a hit-and-run accident when they were in Shanghai doing their second honeymoon after Rebecca turned 1 year old. Her grandma was her only kin after the death of her parents but she didn't live long to take care of her because she got a heart attack while she was chasing after a pickpocket. At the age of 6, Rebecca was then sent to an orphanage by the children welfare council after the death of her grandmother. During her stay in the orphanage, she was like the older sister there who would always take care of the younger and weaker children from bullies even though she was only 8-years-old at that time. This was how her adoptive parents took notice of her when they saw how they taught the bully a lesson for playing a prank on a younger kid and they decided to adopt her.

After she got adopted, she was brought to South Korea by her adoptive parents and this was how she began her new life there with a new name, Kim Soorin. Because the adoptive parents are unable to have their own kids, Soorin received tons and tons of love from them especially her adoptive mother but she doesn't feel happy at all. She hates the attention she received whenever she attends any functions with her adoptive parents and she would always go to a corner to avoid having any conversations from the people of the higher classes.

Why Shanghai: She overheard a conversation between her adoptive parents. Her adoptive father dislikes the fact that Soorin choose to work as a freelancer dancer instead of going to his company to help him with the business. Thus he decided to arrange a marriage for Soorin and this would also help him in promoting his business since the opposite party is the only son of his business ally. Her adoptive mother tried very hard to persuade her husband to drop that idea but he is firm on his decision. Soorin being Soorin decided to run away from home to avoid the arranged marriage.

  Personality: Fiesty is the best word to describe her personality. Don't ever get fooled by this word. It has several meanings to it and it also applies to her personality too. She is a very energetic and spontaneous girl whenever dance is involved. She loves dancing just like how much she loves her grandmother. Dancing is the only thing that is able to melt this ice mountain. This is the only time when you can see the other side of Rebecca. The second meaning to feisty is belligerent or prepared to fight especially in situations where there is unfair act. She is like a girl of justice. She will always stand up for the weaks if they were being bullied. When her anger mode is being triggered, you are really courting your own death. She will make sure she kills you with her words and make you remember how you 'die' and not to step onto her tail ever again. Her words are full of 'poisonous spikes' that are lethal enough to 'kill' with one sentence. 

She isn't like other rich girls out there. She has been very cautious in making friends. She doesn't like to be patronised especially when she is from a wealthy family. She think that people cling on her because they want something out from her, especially for money. This is why she doesn't really has many friends in Seoul except her close friend, Kim Jaejoong. When she is at home, she is an extremely quiet girl unless she is with her adoptive mother or best friend. It is only her adoptive mother or best friend who is able to make her chatty otherwise she will lock herself in her own world. In conclusion, she is a cool and aloof person to the public.
