Background: Both my parents are professors of Asian Studies at Boston University and Northeastern University respectively, and my sister is attending Harvard Law School-so I come from a background of college-educated family members. However, it doesn't mean I'm pretentious or look down on others. Maybe it's a combination of my parents waiting until later in life to have me, or the fact that they're both very laid-back individuals whose main concerns are their careers and their family, that I am how I am. My parents encouraged a balanced life- for every academic related activity, I was pushed to "play" as hard : When I joined the national honors society, my parents signed me up for guitar lessons... when I joined the chess club with a friend, my parents pushed me to try out for basketball... this happened throughout my whole life and made me aware of always being balanced; I study as hard as I party and I party as hard as I study- without one I can't do the other. My family is a loving one, but because I was the baby and came around while both my parents were working on their doctorates (my father's second doctorate) that I sometimes felt I was not as important as their careers or activities they were involved in on their campuses. My sister, as loving and supportive as she is, being older than me made the painfully apparent. With my family members busy with their own things, I spent a lot time alone and sometimes unloved. Not to say they didn't love me... I was never without- had a nanny/caretaker until I started in high school, was given a car for my 16th birthday, always made it to all the class trips (even the one to London my sophomore year of high school,) but I only wished to have spent more time with my family or had longer conversations beyond the "How was your day?" "When is your next recital?" "Did your team win last night's game?" But on the flip side, growing up in that environment helped teach me to be independent and fearless... to always try my hand at everything... that nothing could replace a soft touch or soft words or a moment of physical expression of love, gratitude, or thanks.

Trainee life: I started life as a trainee when I turned 20. I had decided to take advantage of the study abroad program at Boston University with a group of my friends; but in the end, I was the only one who made it to Seoul to study at Dankook University. It was there that I met someone who would change the course of my life. Though I was taking courses with the Korean Language and Literature major (so I could return to Boston and follow my parents' footsteps and possibly teach Asian Studies at the college level) I spent a lot of time with my roommate (Park Seongmin, who was a music major) so found myself a lot in the music department with him randomly playing around with our guitars. It was there that I met someone who had lived majority of his life in Boston; and though I had not thought to befriend him, he made the effort to befriend me. Ok Taecyeon. Seeing as I grew up in America and spent a lot time listening to more American music (rock, r&b) I had no idea about the world of kpop or that he was a world-known celebrity. He introduced me to his group members (and kpop) and after spending time with them, working out with them, immerising myself in their world of music... they encouraged me to audition and try out the kpop world.

Being from JYP, they had encouraged me to audition there, but surprisingly (to the 2PM members) I had not been accepted. I had simply smiled and been ready to return my focus to my schooling, but they had not been ready to give up on me. It had taken another month of constant pep talks and after a heart to heart conversation with my sister (who had been aware of the kpop world) who made me promise I'd try to audition at least two more times before officially writing the world of korean entertainment out of my future. It was her in fact (who is SM Entertainment biased and especially Yuhno biased) who suggested I audition at the other two big-name agencies. It was at an open-cast audition at SM Entertainment the following weekend that I auditioned and amazingly, was accepted. However, after almost a year, I was approached by the chairman's daughter and decided to switch over to the smaller agency 12Star Entertainment.

There the life of a college student and trainee started. I could never say that it was easy, but I would never say I regretted anything from it. I had resolved that while I was in Korea, as long as I continued my education, I could balance it out with practicing something I loved anyways... (even if it was more hours and more work that I could have ever imagined.) Once I finished my degree and still had not debuted, I almost gave up and returned home. A part of me felt I was wasting time- being so much older than many of the trainees, along with an actual degree... I felt I was floundering in the world that was never a world I would have imagined becoming a part of. However, the members of 2PM and my sister said to give it a year after graduation... allow myself to focus solely on training before giving up. Which I am grateful for, since I was selected not too long later to join the next-to-debut group.

Parents: My father is Jae-sun Oh, 56, Asian Studies professor at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. My mother is Hye-mi Oh, 54, Asian Studies professor at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. My parents are very similar in personality and even interests and likes/dislikes. They are both very quiet individuals, but once they speak (especially if its something they're passionate about) they never shut up. They are very intelligent, thoughtful and social people who like the company of others. Though they are both very busy with their own jobs, and interest groups they try their hardest to always be there for their kids when they can.

My sister is Michelle Mi-hi Oh, 29, student at Harvard Law school. She is the one person in my life that makes everything better; knowing how my parents were, she tried very hard to be physically be there for me when I needed her to. She was the one who would make it to my recitals, or games, or would be the one to make sure my homework was done. She is very much more like a mother than a sister... but beyond that, a friend first and foremost. She is my #1 fan and supporter in my goals and dreams.

Oh my friend

Best friend: (In Seoul) 1- Ok Taecyeon, 23, Entertainer at JYP. Taec is a hardworking, ambitious, and fun friend to have. He is supportive and friendly; eager to always help a friend out, and loyal- always defends his friends and will stand alongside them in a fight.

2- Kim Minjun (Jun.K), 24, Entertainer at JYP. Minjun is a friendly, sociable friend. His life revolves around his friends and his music. He is often seen bobbing his head to the song in his head, or with a pen writing lyrics to his next song.

How you met/will meet: (refer to above)

Lovey dovey~ (max 2. OC’s and Zodiac members allowed. If you want to choose a member just write ‘member’ and leave this section or if you don’t want a partner just write N/A) *member or a girl from SM Entertainment (I am SM biased =P)

Name/Age/Occupation/Personality:

How you act together: Initially awkward... since I am an American and hate the reservation in "skinship." I dont like when a girl pretends to be too shy or too embarassed to hold my hand... I want a girl who will allow me the freedom of expressing my feelings for them through physical touch (those in public: holding hands, hugs, kisses on the cheek.) I wouldn't want to hide a relationship and that would be an issue with the korean media/look on it.

How you met/will meet:

My my

Troublesome or Calm?: A mixture of both- I detest fights/arguements and am the type to walk away. However, I wouldn't hesitate to stand up for myself or a friend and that would be when I get VERY vocal and could lead to being physical.

Personality: I would like to think that I'm laid-back and can accept things as they come, but admit to sometimes being too much of a perfectionist and so being fussy and narrow-minded in my wants/opinions. I am confident about my skills/talents, but don't like to feel like I'm showing off. It's a trait I hate in most people- showing off. I am a hard-working person- who wouldn't hesitate in practicing hours on end to perfect the right dance moves... or to continuously listen to a melody to be able to pen the perfect lyrics... or continuously study something until I pick it up (Japanese in this latest case.)

Though I can be friendly (in the right circumstances,) I tend to not make the first move. I prefer those who work at becoming friends with me... Growing up feeling unloved (a lot of the times) and having had two failed relationships have made me wary of love and dating; but I would be lying if I didn't admit to wanting that someone to love me. However, because I am so wary, I try not to get too attached quickly and sometimes the relationship fails before it begins (and sometimes that applies to just friends as well.) However, even being so wary, I try to maintain a faith in humanity; I fear becoming cynical about life. But being more introverted has caused the air of mysteriousness around me; however I don't counteract that persona and let those who wish to think that of me, think it. I am gentle in nature and prefer more of a mellow lifestyle- a cup of coffee on a Sunday morning, with light jazz playing in the background; a book in my lap would be an ideal day... Being raised the way I was in a more upper-class Boston upbringing, I tend to have old-fashioned mannerisms- and have been on numerous occasions been referred to as the gentleman.

Likes:

  • Music - a lot of genres- jazz and classic, to r&b, alternative rock/rock
  • Food - all kinds, but I love Italian food
  • Genuine people who don't act different when in front of a friend or a crowd of strangers
  • People who are balanced- in their lives, and their world
  • Instruments - playing on my guitars, collecting them, and learning new ones

Dislikes:

  • People with the "celebrity disease"
  • People who don't give their all in something
  • Close-minded people
  • Overuse of aegyo
  • The drinking lifestyle of what is common in Korea

Habits:

  • I have a cup of coffee every morning
  • I work out three or four times a week (usually with the 2PM boys, unless theyre busy with their schedules)
  • I email or call my sister at least once every week

*Hobbies:

  • I like to go hiking when time allows
  • I like to frequent coffee shops and listen to live music
  • I am an avid fan of movies and usually try to watch at least one movie a weekend
  • I play basketball/American football (when I can)

*Specialties:

  • I am fearless and willing to try anything
  • Writing- I enjoy being able to find the perfect words to describe my thoughts or feelings
  • I can easily memorize lyrics

Fears: none (except secretly... never being able to find love)

Strengths: I don't easily give up on something, and the willingness to work hard for what I want

Weaknesses: My outward apparences (in reference to my unconscious looks I give off- sometimes I look as if I'm angry but really I'm not)

*I must must MUST remember this about your character: I like being reffered to as a gentleman and strive to always act that way. One phrase I try to live by: it's about quality and not quantity- I don't strive to want/have more than others... I don't need to prove myself to anyone and refuse to... I detest being questioned over and over about something.

Trivia:

  • Blood type A. I am more conservative, introverted, patient, punctual, and a perfectionist.
  • I have a tattoo of 'Oh' in hangul on left arm
  • I am ambidexterous
  • I promised my sister I would never say the words "I love you" to anyone but family unless she was the one and I would marry her
  • I have a degree in Korean Language and Literature from Dankook University
