family background — Yena's family is very loving. She is an only child, and has a father and a mother, who both care for her a lot. They aren't poor or rich, they are middle class. Her mother is a nurse at a hospital, and her father owns a small trinket shop. At first they didn't approve of Yena's dream, but in the end accepted it.

Yena was scouted near a trinket store in seoul at the age of 10. She was scouted by a JYP representative and became a trainee, after convincing her mother & father. JYP only scouted her because of her unique looks, but soon found out she loved to dance. After training at JYP for 5 years, she soon moved to SM entertainment, where she trained for an additional 2 years. She attends the Seoul Arts high school, and her major is acting and dancing.

trainee history — her trainee days were lonely. Because of her quiet personality, she had barely any friends. People didn't know who she was, because she never put herself out there. After school, she would practice her dancing until bed time, and would stay up a little later to do her homework. At one point she wanted to quit, but she decided not to. She worked hard, and there was a lot of competition. There were a ton of amazing dancers at JYP and SM, and she pushed herself to work harder. During her trainee days, she could barely see her parents, but she called them every night. The only thing that kept her going was her parents.
