when taeyeon proposed to leeteuk (unpublished ending- Heart and Soul 1)

author's note: i made this ending long ago before i wrote the real ending of Heart and Soul 1. but i quickly decided not to publish this ending because for some reasons, it resembles dorkyheart and i made the characters too mature in here. like taeteuk being together for three years. in the real ending, there was a relapse, heart and soul 2 moments were inserted in the story line (graduation to engagement). they were married within a year of the graduation when leeteuk proposed to taeyeon during her birthday.

now, in this one, it is taeyeon who proposes :) just want to share this version  of what i had thought first. after re-reading, i can't stop myself from laughing. ^^

so this is the other version.  (not the real ending, i hope this doesnt create a confusion, lol.)

warning: fluff fluff

i dedicate this to the taeteuk fandom, to my readers, and for all the supporters still continuing to support our leaders ^^

Taeyeon’s Room, Park Villa

“taeng.”

Taeyeon turned around and saw leeteuk clutching a small envelope between his hand.

“you’re attending a wedding  nextweek?” he asked, invading a space at the foot of her bed. His eyes were of pure utmost curiosity, probably in wonder how taeyeon never mentioned a thing.

“um, yeah.” Taeyeon sat on the bed too. she took the envelope from him and started rereading the contents. “it’s a wedding of a friend of mine from the slums. Sunny and ryeowook were invited too.”

“why didn’t you tell me?”

Taeyeon bit her lip.

“well, first of all, I forgot about it.” she smiled, scratching her head. “and since you had me reminded, well, I will attend.”

Taeyeon started staring at a space on the ground covered by a faux polar bear carpet.

“but we will have a meeting that time right?” leeteuk asked gently.

“can I not attend just for that day?” taeyeon looked at him. Leeteuk’s eyebrows turn into a slight frown. “well, since I know a lot of stuffs about the company and I have always been updated, might as well be absent just for a day.”

Leeteuk locked his eyes for the moment on her and suddenly nodded.

“okay then.” He said, lightly patting her arm.

Taeyeon cannot believe what was taking place.

booya, am I hearing this correctly?” she asked, laughing.

“yes.”

“wow, that’s really cool.” Taeyeon said. she knew that leeteuk always understood her, but she didn’t know that he will allow her to miss the meeting. Leeteuk’s life for three years after all, was focused on making his company grow.

“but you have to make a follow up report about it.” leeteuk stressed. Taeyeon nodded and gave him a quick hug.

kamsamnida jagiya.”

jagiya?”leeteuk smiled as she loosened her hug. “you never called me that yet.”

“I will call whatever I want.” Taeyeon wrinkled her nose. “anyways.”

Taeyeon didn’t know whether she would open such a topic.

“yes baby?”

“well.” Taeyeon inhaled few deep breaths before continuing. Should she talk about it? “about the wedding.”

“about the wedding?” leeteuk looked at her innocently.

Taeyeon straightened up her back and placed both palms on the bed, not taking her eyes off her beau.

“about the wedding.” She repeated. “you haven’t asked me for marriage after three years.”

Leeteuk inclined his head.

“I’m not saying that we should hurry up.” Taeyeon raised her hand. “its just, I’m twenty seven, and you’re twenty eight. We’re already in a relationship for three years and those were really happy years…”

“I’m just thinking of whether we should take it to the next level.” She continued. She felt so embarrassed talking about it.

“you want to get married.” Leeteuk finalized.

Taeyeon nodded.

“but you told me that you’re not ready, right?” he asked. “you told me that you need personal growth, to be successful. I’m giving you the chance to expand your horizon.”

“but—“

“taeng, don’t tell me that you’re changing your mind?” leeteuk smiled. “you’re at the height of your career.”

Taeyeon sighed and distanced away from leeteuk.

“okay, fine.” She said, a bit hurt.

“you’re mad at me?”

“no.” taeyeon shook her head. “its fine.”

Seoul Café

“he doesn’t want to get married.” Tiffany said.

Taeyeon shook her head.

“its not that.” she said, explaining her side towards the four women she was with. Taeyeon tried to compose herself as Tiffany, seohyun, Yoona, Hyoyeon, Sooyoung, Jessica, and Sunny all looked at her with a weird expression. “I think it got stuck with him that I wanted to focus on my career.”

“well that explains why he was not keen to marry you.” Sooyoung said. “its because you said it in the first place.”

Taeyeon gazed at the bottle of orange juice in front of her hands.

“unni, why didn’t you tell him that you really want to get married?” seohyun asked.

“I really don’t know too.” taeyeon said. “I guess I was afraid or something like that.”

Sunny was just finished contacting sungmin on the phone.

“how can you be afraid when you want to get married on the first place?” she reasoned out. Whether it was taeyeon’s carefulness to choose, she didn’t mind. Taeyeon was the only one who was not married after all. She, and the other girls who befriended taeyeon already started their own family.

“its not that I get jealous because you guys are married.” Taeyeon stressed, as if hearing sunny’s own sentiments. “maybe a part, okay. But honestly I really want to start a new family.”

She’d been with leeteuk for three years. They graduated their university with flying colors and they were now managing Park Kyuwon’s company. Apart from the hullabaloos and ups from the job, she was at least hoping that leeteuk would incline himself to marriage.

Even if she rejected him thrice.

It was not just leeteuk’s first time for the marriage proposal that happened after they had a week vacation to a resort. The guy had also asked her hand in marriage after he had a successful operation and just a week after their graduation. Taeyeon didn’t know why she did things at the first place. Either that she was eager to expand her horizon, or its just she doesn’t see the two of them in the future yet.

“maybe he got tired proposing to you.” Yoona said, which made taeyeon’s stomach whirl in churns. “or he’s just waiting for the right time.”

“but unni, you’re 27, it’s the ideal time of marriage.” Tiffany said.

Taeyeon looked at hyoyeon, who, was just watching the scene in amusement.

“what do you think hyo?”

“why don’t you propose to him instead?” leeteuk’s youngest sister and Eunhyuk’s wife, Hyoyeon blurted. Sooyoung and sunny’s hand flew in front of their lips in amazement.

aigoo, that’s a good idea hyo!” Jessica said sarcastically. “good idea that taeyeon will tell her kids about who proposed first.”

“we’re not traditional here, are we?” hyoyeon turned to her. Jessica crossed her arms but kept silent. “it’s the new age. Taeyeon unni’s not getting any younger. And I’m here to support her, she’s going to marry my brother after all. Unless brother has some other woman in his mind right now?”

“nah, he’s too busy with that.” taeyeon propped her orange juice gently to the table. “I think Hyo is right, he proposed thrice anyway, maybe I should at least try.”

“and if he rejects you too?” Jessica asked. Taeyeon couldn’t really believe how she got along with Jessica really good.

“then I’ll just kidnap him and go to Vegas.” Taeyeon winked. “no. not really. I’d just wait for him until he proposes to me again.”

“so that settles it then.” Seohyun said. “unni will propose. And when will it be?”

“I got a meeting with him tomorrow right?” taeyeon grinned. “maybe I should settle it there.”

Appa daebak activity center

Leeteuk sat in his chair, unmoving.

Even if the chair seems too small and wiggly for his weight, leeteuk could hardly move but his eyes to Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Siwon and Ryeowook playing with their children. It was not his first time seeing his friends like that, but he would always gaze at every moment they would happily spend some time with their bunch. It was like watching a reality show, fathers hurrying to catch up with their kids while the latter throw plushies or soft stuffs to them, kids who sat in one corner and play with each toys, kids who cry to their father because of hunger or disappointment towards a playmate. Leeteuk could see it all. He didn’t even know how the fathers would manage to take care of the children while their wives were away.

And speaking of wives, leeteuk knew that taeyeon was with them too. leeteuk, for a moment, thought about taeyeon. She was a bit disappointed of him last night for saying his insights about marriage. Not that he doesn’t want to get married, he had proposed to his girlfriend three times. And he was always rejected after that. now that taeyeon wanted to get married, he didn’t even know if it was out of impulse or she just really wanted to go for it. if she really wanted to go for it, then maybe he was really wrong to think that it was out of impulse.

“boo!” leeteuk almost fell on his small chair when heechul, the ever stylish brother in black jeans and loose shirt pushed him forward. “bro!”

aish, heenim.”

“are you not surprised to see me?” heechul blurted. Leeteuk’s brother seemed every bit more fashionable as the years go by, ever since he and his wife Jessica conceptualized a fashion line for a business. “I miss you, haven’t seen you for hours!”

“drop it.” leeteuk pinched his stomach. heechul yelped in a slight pain but continued laughing.

“Sica told me that taengoo’s with them.” Heechul said, as kyuhyun joined their conversation too.

“yes, she’s quite disappointed with me.” leeteuk said. heechul positioned himself to the soft floor. “what brings you here when you don’t have kid around?”

Leeteuk was talking about Heechul’s son with Jessica.

“I left him with the nanny, he’s still sleeping.” Heechul said. “yah, you’re talking as if you brought a kid with you too.”

“oh, but I am.” Leeteuk pointed to kyuhyun who made a face.

“why did taeyeon got disappointed at you again?” kyuhyun asked.

“its because.” Leeteuk tried not to get distracted to a little boy looking at him nearby. “I disrupted her thoughts of getting married.”

“you rejected her?”

“I didn’t.” leeteuk raised his hands. “I was more of asking her if she’s serious about it. when I told her that maybe she was just acting impulsive, she just went silent.”

He sighed and extended his hand unconsciously to the little boy.

hyung.” Kyuhyun said. “look at your surroundings.”

Leeteuk did look around. aside from the little boy who sat near him, every kid came along with a father. sungmin was busy playing with his own, even donghae, siwon, ryeowook and eunhyuk.

“kyuhyun has twins, sungmin, eunhyuk and siwon’s sons were born on the same month, ryeowook’s little girl is almost standing. And I have a little baby at home.” heechul reasoned out. “teuk, you’re the only one left who hasn’t started a family.”

“what are you trying to tell me?” leeteuk asked. He wasn’t sure if his assumptions were correct.

“what hyung wanted to say.” Kyuhyun said. “was maybe taeyeon saw that all her friends already have a family and maybe she wanted to really start of her own after realizing that she was indeed kind of being left behind.”

“she’s twenty seven.” Leeteuk said.

Kyuhyun laughed.

“teuk, 27 is already a ripe age for a woman.” Heechul said. “and besides, you’re three years already in the relationship. Propose to her again.”

“ I just don’t know if she’s being impulsive or what.” Leeteuk said. “she’s having a good career.”

“pfft.” Said a little boy beside him.

yah.” Kyuhyun looked at the little boy too. “that little kid has been staying near you for  quite a while. Let me guess, two years old?”

“this one is two years old?” leeteuk was surprised that the baby immediately stood up when he extended his hands to reach him.

Heechul and kyuhyun stared at leeteuk in awe as he played with the little child’s fist with his face.

“what are you looking at?”

aigoo, leeteuk for a moment looks like a father.” heechul said.

aish, drop it.”

“for real.” heechul wandered around to see who the father of the baby was. “where’s the father anyways?”

“here.” the man raised his hands and bowed his head apologetically at leeteuk as he reached for his baby. “I’m sorry sir, baby kyumin must have liked hanging with you around.”

“its okay. kyumin ah, have a good day.” leeteuk waved at the little kid.

Leeteuk cleared his throat when Heechul and Kyuhyun stared at him again.

“what now?”

“I’m imagining how his baby with taeyeon would look like.” Heechul told kyuhyun.

Taeyeon’s Room, Park Villa

Taeyeon had realized that spending time with the girls was the best way to divert her mind off the marriage for a while, even if she already planned to have the proposal on tomorrow’s meeting. The girls were cooperative enough to share with her what to do just in case leeteuk would politely decline the proposal. Would he decline it anyways? Taeyeon thought. leeteuk had proposed to her thrice.

She had decided to propose before the meeting, since there would be involvement of LCDs and projectors and leeteuk would, of course, check first all her materials before letting her to preside.

when taeyeon returned to the villa that night, she was surprised to see a white envelope intricately embellished and sealed with a golden stamp PJS on her bed and she knew immediately from whom the letter was.

To taeyeon,

I’m really sorry for making you upset last night. Hope I make it up to you.

She looked to her left and saw a bouquet of white roses situated on her bed post. Leeteuk must have personally delivered the flowers when she was out.

Taeyeon smiled. she knew she was doing the right thing.

Park Steel and Oil industries office

Taeyeon’s POV

I plugged the last blue connector to the projector and huffed as I waited for the machine to project the same thing that was monitored on the screen on my laptop. I personally prepared the agenda last night, probably took me a lot of hours before finishing my statistics.

I was the only one inside the meeting room, brushing my sweaty hands off my black plaid when leeteuk emerged from the other door with a cup of coffee in his hand. as usual, the Korean Adonis was checking every material and machine I plugged in.

“everything ready?” he asked.

“yes sir.” I kidded.

In young unni, leeteuk’s sister entered the room five minutes after, wearing the usual goofy smile that would contradict her brother’s seriousness every time a meeting took place.

annyeong.” She greeted. Unni was unusually early today. It would be exactly thirty minutes before the meeting would start anyways.

Leeteuk bent his head to check my laptop screen.

“can I see what you made?” he asked.

Like a miracle. Good thing he asked for that. I knew he would always check my agenda.

I already planned what to include on it. including the slides of the powerpoint that I knew he would be surprised to see.

Leeteuk and Inyoung unni both stared at the purple blank screen projected on the first slide. When I pushed the button on my pointer, another slide popped out, which made Inyoung squeal in delight.

omona, taeyeonnie!” she shreaked.

The words, the sentences. I knew this composition of letters might be a bunch of nonsense to others. But for me, these words represent my real intention to the only man standing inside the room.

Leeteuk, would you marry me?

“jungsu ah, would you marry me?” I blurted, right enough for leeteuk to notice.

I thought that he would be surprised too. I thought that his eyes would reveal it. but he just stared between me and the screen, with the same poker face he usually has. My smile eventually faded.

“you, you don’t like it?” I asked.

Leeteuk turned off the projector into a blank mode.

“what is that?” he said.

“it’s a proposal.” I said. “ I thought you were thinking that I wasn’t serious so I planned this idea myself. you don’t like it?”

I looked at him, puppy eyed but it seemed that my charm only made him exhale breaths.

“meet me at my room.” he told me. he turned towards his sister. “noona, please preside the meeting for a while.”

“but jungsu…”

“I’ll see you later.”

Leeteuk urged me to follow him.

His room was just next to the meeting room that I didn’t really have to catch up with his quick paces.

He gently caught my hand and closed the door behind us.

“explain to me what’s the meaning of all of this.” He said, loosening his grip. This wasn’t the exact reaction that I expected from him.

“I don’t have to explain to you. “ I said. “you know how much I want to get married.”

“taeng, you told me that you weren’t ready.”

I sighed and crossed my arms above my chest.

“that was years ago.” I said, when leeteuk placed a hand behind his neck. “I really want to get married.”

“can you imagine how people would react if they find out that you made the proposal instead of me?” he said.

This sentence was right enough for me to feel heated.

“hyo even said that it was the new age, I don’t care what people would say!” I said. “I just want to be a part of you. I think nothing’s wrong with that!”

“taeng…”

“if you don’t want to get married just tell me straight away!” I said, my voice almost cracked. I was almost shaking, and my eyes seem to hurt.

Leeteuk closed his eyes and had them opened as if his thoughts suddenly came clear.

“I guess I have no choice.” He said, fumbling for his pocket.

What happened next was one of the things I didn’t expect.

I didn’t expect for him to kneel infront of me handing an opened box containing a glittering 10 carat circular diamond ring. I blinked my eyes to check if I wasn’t dreaming.

“I was planning to propose to you any time this month but I guess you had a plan of your own then.” He said, his lips curving into a smile. I glanced at the ring again and to his face.

“you already?”

“you think I’m not going to marry you?” leeteuk chuckled. “taeng, I tricked death just to be with you.”

Suddenly I was reminded of his condition at the hospital three years ago when his heart stopped beating. He was definitely not kidding.

“so..” I said, trying to be proper. “you are going to marry me?”

“are you going to marry me?” he shot the sentence back to me. “kim taeyeon?”

“yes, of course, yes!” I said. “I am going to marry you.”

Leeteuk slipped the ring inside my ring finger.

“you’re engaged.” He said, standing up.

The ring was so beautiful. And my emotions. I didn’t know whether I would feel embarrassed or happy. I didn’t realize that I was already crying.

Leeteuk embraced his arms around my waist as I made three pecks on his cheek.

“dry your tears, dear.” He said. “or people would think that I scolded you.”

“but I thought you were going to scold me!” I said, forcefully wiping the tears off my face.

“I am not, I’m just surprised as you are.” He smiled. “that was really touching, thank you so much.”
