B1A4 member Gongchan received surgery for kidney removal today (23 July) morning.

Gongchan’s representative states, “Gongchan’s kidney problem is in-born, and is due to one of his ureter being too narrow for his kidney to function properly. Hence we have decided on surgery to remove one of his kidneys.”

B1A4′s company WM Entertainment continued, “During the promotions for Sleep Well, Good Night, Gongchan complained of pains in his side and was brought to the hospital for a detailed checkup where it was found that his kidney was not functioning well due to a birth defect. It was of his own strong insistence to receive surgery only after all music promotions had ended. Whenever Gongchan felt pain, he received pain killer shots and forced himself to continue on with his promotions. Instead of showing pain, his face was always bright whenever he thought about the B1A4 members and fans. He also asked us not to reveal the plans of his surgery before it happened as he did not want to cause the fans to worry.”

Currently Gongchan’s surgery has successfully concluded, and will be admitted into hospital to recover for about a week.

After he is discharged, he can return to his normal life, except to stay away from doing any forceful movements.

With the successful conclusions of their music promotion, B1A4 will be showing off their different sides through KBS JOY’s Hello Baby starting on 25 July.
