♡ HISTORY
Background:
Nara was born and raised in Icheon, South Korea as an only child. Her mother is a kindergarten teacher, while her father makes astronomical telescopes for a living. Due to the nature of his job, her father has always traveled quite a lot, leaving Nara spending most of her time with her mother. As a result, she grew closer to her mother than to her father. She did however get her love of astronomy from her father who would often take her out of the city to observe the stars as a child. Her mother, on the other hand, helped influence her studious, disciplined nature. As a student, Nara has always taken academics very seriously. She spent her public school life closed off from others, preferring studying to socializing. When she graduated high school, she decided to break out of her comfort zone and applied for schools in big cities. Unfortunately, upon acceptance to Seoul University, she became overwhelmed by the large crowds and decided to retreat back to focusing solely on studying and schooling instead of trying to make friends and socialize.
Personality:
The most obvious word to describe Nara would be studious. Nara spends most of her time reviewing her notes and doing her homework. She both desires knowledge and finds studying to be the most useful way to spend her time. Because her nose is always stuck in a textbook, she comes off as aloof and unapproachable. In reality, she's very, very shy and socially awkward. On the rare occasion she is approached by someone, she doesn't have the slightest clue what to say or how to act. This results in her coming off as disinterested, indifferent, or just rude, leading the other person to never again attempt a conversation. Because she hasn't had many relationships to speak of, she's very reserved and closed-off, preferring not to open herself up to others much if at all. She has held onto a few close friends from her childhood, but cannot easily make new friends. She is easily made nervous and is prone to nonstop worrying when forced into a social situation. She'll freeze up if asked to answer a question in class, even though she usually knows the answer. Likewise, she is absolutely unable to speak in front of groups of people.
Nara is one of the few people who acts the same no matter who she's with. Thus, she has no mysterious inner self that she intentionally hides from strangers. However, most people who are not close to her don't get the chance to see her easily annoyed side. Repeated prodding makes her impatient, and few people interact with her enough to see her anger manifest. When that side of her shows up, it's in the form of passive-aggression. The easiest way to bring this side of her out is to interfere with her punctuality. She hates wasting time and insists on never being late for any class or appointment.
♡ MACHINE
Nara's style can best be described as comfortable and subdued, but occasionally somewhat chic. She usually wears knee length dresses, particularly plain, patternless ones in dark, dull colors such as dark blue, black, or gray. She occasionally wears floral print dresses, but only ones with subdued patterns that don't draw attention. On cold days, she pairs ankle grazers with loose fitting sweaters. She prefers sweaters with long sleeves that cover her hands and can be bunched up in her fists. For footwear, she goes for ballet flats. Overall, she goes for clothing that will ensure she doesn't really get noticed in a crowd.

- Photography ; she acquired this interest from her father in a roundabout way. He builds telescopes which are used to take photos of distant stars and galaxies. Thus, she gained an interest in photography, especially photographs of the night sky.
- Stargazing ; Nara enjoys slipping away from the city to stargaze whenever she can.
- Venus ; her favorite planet.
- Fruits and Vegetables ; she prefers these to fast food, breads, meats, and sweets. Her favorites are snow peas, broccoli, and pineapple. She loves cooking vegetables as well.
- Tea ; she enjoys making and drinking tea.
- Puns ; practically the only thing that humors her.
- Reading ; Nara constantly reads textbooks and certain science fiction.

- History ; this subject is Nara's biggest enemy. No matter how much she studies, she cannot memorize all of the dates required and finds it dull and uninteresting.
- Tardiness ; Nara absolutely hates being late, being made late by others, and when others are late.
- Boisterous People ; she prefers quiet for easier studying, so she hates when loud people ruin the atmosphere while she studies in a public setting.

Major Relationships:
[father] Sangmin ; 48 years old ; builds astronomical telescopes. Her father comes across as quite playful as he never stops joking around. He's also incredibly intelligent and overworks himself. He influenced her love for both astronomy and photography, and she gets along with him well.
[mother] Yejin ; 46 years old ; kindergarten teacher. Her mother is calm, patient, and endearing, all qualities necessary of someone who deals with young children for a living. Nara is very close with her mother.
[friend] Bang Minah ; 18 years old ; student. Minah is extremely extroverted, opinionated, and witty. She became friends with Nara in elementary school when their personalities were a little more similar, but over the years, they grew up into entirely different people. Partner's Personality & Relationship to charater:
Sehun → Sehun is a history whiz who happens to be in the same class as Nara. Unfortunately, history is Nara's absolute worst subject, and she wasn't quite prepared for history at the university level. Sehun overhears Nara and the professor discussing her near failing grade in the class and offers to tutor her. She begrudgingly accepts the offer. His main motivation was his intrigue with her after noticing she orders the same bento as him. Sehun tries to maintain a cool exterior at all times, making him incredibly try hard. In reality, he is clueless with girls and annoyingly persistent towards Nara, always managing to get on her nerves one way or another. When Sehun is with his friends, he's cute, bubbly, hyperactive, and dorky. He has a young, naive attitude, which makes others prone to wanting to take care of him. When he's around Nara, he becomes a bumbling idiot and has no idea why she doesn't reactive positively to his efforts to befriend her. He tries to act cute and crack jokes, failing to impress her. Nara eventually gives in to his erratic charm and they progress into a romantic relationship.
Lay → Lay is an art student who approaches Nara, asking her to pose for one of his paintings. He claims her to be his muse, but in reality he's a casanova who says the same to every girl. Nara is unimpressed and declines, but Lay continues to chase her, refusing to be rejected. Lay is the king of sweet talking and is always incredibly flirtatious around girls (including Nara). With most girls, he knows exactly what to say to make them swoon or grab their attention, though his efforts usually prove ineffective against Nara. He likes to compliment girls to make them smile, but also tends to tease them lightly to hold their attention. He’s big on skinship and touches girls whenever he gets the chance, such as brushing his hand against theirs when taking an item from them. Around others, like male classmates and teachers, he's stoic and serious. He doesn’t really make jokes, but is often taken as unintentionally funny anyways. He never laughs in response and doesn't see what's so funny. He's forgetful and always has to run back home to grab something he left behind, which constantly causes him to be late--a trait that Nara HATES.

Why should I choose you:
Not many characters aspire to be astronomers or astrophysicists. xD I put it an effort to make her interests tie in with her family life, since she doesn't have much of a life outside of family and school! Other than that, I tried to make her interpretable and open-ended. That is, I tried not to make her personality too specific or too long, so that there was ample space to mend and bend her... if that makes sense. xD Because I know it's kind of tough to write characters who are overly detailed. ^^;
Anything else:
A stargazing scene would be really cute. ToT This is a really interesting and unique fic idea! I also applied for A Chance at Humanity because they both look pretty BALLIN' to me. Thanks for considering my app! P.S. The Ye Ara name similarity was a coincidence I only realized after picking out the name.
