( character traits ) : bubbly, excitable, valiant, insane, flippant

( personality ) : First and foremost, Kari's personality is defined by an inexplicable belief in the idea that she is actually a magical girl, "Rolly Ppu Ppu Mahou Kyandii-chan", who highlights as a normal teen by day and fights evil by night.

Simply put, Kari is not the kind of girl you'd take anywhere you wanted to make a good first impression. It's not that she's rude or disgustingly unhygienic; she's just a little out of touch with reality. Yes, she genuinely believes she is a magical girl, and being "out of costume" has never stopped her from righting wrongs and triumphing over any kind of evil she happens to see passing down the street. Kari has saved more babies from stolen lollipops than she can count (though, math was never her strong suit) and chased away innumerable bullies trying to steal lunch money from poor little nerds on the playground. She's valiant to a tee; if she sees something immoral or unjust going on around her, you can bet she's going to try to step in and correct the situation ASAP, most likely all the while cheering something cheesy and second-hand embarrassing. "Stop, villain!" and "Stop in the name of Blow Pops!" are her go-to catch phrases.

Kari tends to exhibit a flippant recklessness when it comes to her so-called "duty" to justice and doing what's right–and, really, pretty much anything and everything else in general. She runs obliviously headfirst into everything she does, whether it be jumping into a really tall tree and saving a kitten (only to realize she doesn't know how to climb down with her hands full) or just jumping into a relationship without questioning whether or not it has any chance of working out. Not once, not in her entire life, has Kari stopped to think a decision over before making it. She's decisive to a fault and never puts any kind of forethought or caution into anything she does. (Probably has something to do with the fact that she's a total idiot.) And, really, even if she did take a moment to think over the dangerous situation she was about run into (like, say, tackling a man with a gun who threatened to rob the cafe), inevitably, she probably would just do it anyway. Her motto is basically, "It's okay! We're totally not going to die. Totally." In that sense, maybe she's a little bit hopelessly optimistic.

Taking all of the above into account, Kari is an incredibly excitable, bubbly teenage girl. It really doesn't take much at all to spark her interest, and once that happens, she's like a kid in a candy shop. (No, Kari literally is the kid in a candy shop. It's like the term was coined after her. She's obsessed with Candy; it's her entire life and soul essence.) She's also incredibly easily impressed and fascinated by just about everything. It's rare to find her not positively starry-eyed and absolutely entranced by something or other, which makes her an incredible ego-booster, as she tends to fawn over just about anything imaginable. Thus, aside from the time she spends fighting crime, Kari is just a normal, bat insane, flippant and reckless, easily wow'd teenage girl. Totally, totally normal.

( background ) : Born to an average set of parents in an average family in an average city in Japan, Kari has always been a little bit off the mark. Ever since she was a child, she loved nothing more than to hop on the train and take a ride to the candy store, never coming home with less than $50 worth of processed sugar in tow. Growing up, Kari never wanted to visit museums, amusement parks, or any of those other "boring" places for "boring" kids. All she ever wanted was to tour the inside of a candy factory, secretly dreaming it would turn out to be a magical, wonderful land like in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This obsession stayed with Kari throughout her teenage years. She believes that, when she was just sixteen years old, she was involved in a tragic accident while touring one candy factory, some sort of "nuclear meltdown" (as she calls it) in which the building was swamped with molten chocolate and exploding pop rocks. Ever since that fateful day, she claims she has had magical powers (a la Spider-man) and was since transformed into a magical girl: Rolly Ppu Ppu Mahou Kyandii-chan. Since then, she's been waging an imaginary war against the forces of candy evil, most notably an army of  abominable gummy bears (the only kind of candy she refuses to eat).

( lifestyle ) : Kari currently lives in an apartment in Tokyo, funded by her loving parents, who have been sending her a weekly allowance to live off of while she searches for a job (probably just desperate to get her out of their hair). Her lifestyle is not exactly poor, but she does tend to spend all of her extra cash on candy, candy accessories, candy plushies, and other candy memorabilia. She cannot drive, so she rides the train and walks to get where she needs to go. After graduating high school, Kari decided that was the end of the line as far as her education went; she felt she had a higher duty to serve the people of Japan and fight for the sanctity of candy as Rolly Ppu Ppu Mahou Kyandii-chan. Plus, college life didn't sound nearly as glamorous as any other potential job.

` ♡ ⋮ IT'S GETTIN' ALL SHOUJO UP IN HERE ⋮

( personality ) : At a glance, Kris looks like the prototypical bad boy. Motorcycle? Check. Leather jacket? Check. Combat boots? Check. Your first impression of Kris might be that he's a little rough around the edges–stoic, gruff, and a man of few words. He has an intimidating presence, what with his 6-foot-something stature and icy glare, and that along with his choice of style has earned him the reputation of a bad boy. In fact, there's a rumor going around that Kris has a tattoo for every pub he's been kicked out of. No one dares to mess with him.

Scratch beneath the outer surface and you'll find that Kris isn't a very tough guy at all. Sure, he's intimidating on the outside, but who would guess that one of his favorite hobbies is actually picking flowers? Kris loves to drive his motorcycle out on the open road in search of new fields to wander, to lay in the flowers and stare up at the clouds all day as he muses the hours away. Like Kari, he's saved more than a few kittens from trees before, and he was quite popular with the obaa-chans around the retirement homes he volunteered at from time to time in high school. Though Kris finds it a little difficult to genuinely open up to people, once he does, he's a caring and warm-hearted person who cares deeply for his friends. Kris is humble, never accepting a compliment without blushing, and always going out of his way to help others. He may not be good with words, and his jokes are definitely not funny 99% of the time, but it's hard to deny what a softie he is not-so-deep down inside. And that rumor about Kris having a tattoo for every pub he's been kicked out of? He does have one. Just one.

Kari, on the other hand, believes that there's yet another side of Kris that he doesn't show to the public: one in which he frolics the town under the guise of another superhero, the Lone Liquorice, who rivals her in fighting the forces of candy evil. This alterego is Kris's Tuxedo Mask to Kari's Sailormoon. He wears a tuxedo with a motorcycle helmet (to mask his identity, of course) and uses a long piece of liquorice as a cane/whip. Even though he's (probably) just a figment of Kari's imagination, this side of Kris is a cocky little twit who loves nothing more than to rub taunts and mockery in Rolly Ppu Ppu Mahou Kyandii-chan's face.

( how did you two meet? ) : Kari first met Kris as a patron of the cafe. She served him, and the exchange was entirely uneventful. Of course, Kari thought he was handsome, but she didn't really think much else of him until later that night–when she first met the Lone Liquorice. She was midway through chasing a street thug down, who she had just witnessed stealing a purse from a little old lady, when she tripped and faceplanted on the sidewalk. And that was when the Lone Liquorice appeared for the very first time, taunting her for her failure. When Kris began returning to the cafe after that, it didn't take long for Kari to put two and two together: he was the Lone Liquorice, and she would stop at nothing to reveal his secret identity. (Of course, unbeknownst to Kari, he was just coming back because he thought she was cute.)

( relationship ) : You could say Kari's relationship with Kris is kind of complicated. In a sense, she is a friend and a rival and a stalker.

( how they act ) : Kari is intent on proving that Kris is in fact secretly Rolly Ppu Ppu Mahou Kyandii-chan's arch rival, the Lone Liquorice. To that extent, she's willing to do anything it takes to prove this hypothesis, including following Kris wherever he goes in order to gain evidence. (Case 1: Kris drives the same motorcycle as the Lone Liquorice. Not to mention, the very first night the Lone Liquorice popped up was the same day she met Kris.) For this purpose, Kari has befriended him–how else would she get close enough to study him?

Initially, Kari is always suspicious around Kris. No matter what she does, she watches him out of the corner of her eye, carefully waiting to see if he might do something that would prove him to be the Lone Liquorice. However, to Kris's face, Kari acts sweet, innocent, and charming. She would never want to let on that she's actually spying on him. And, because Kari is so endearing, Kris is the one who starts to develop feelings for her first, completely oblivious to the fact that she's secretly plotting to take his non-existant alterego down. Sure, he catches her staring at him from time to time, but he just assumes that's because she's checking him out like any other normal male would do.

Kris is drawn to their similar interests in helping others; he loves that Kari is so dedicated to saving people and animals, even if her methods of doing so are a little bit unorthodox. She's the #1 reason he comes back to the cafe time and time again, although she doesn't realize it. With Kari, Kris finds it uncharacteristically easy to open up and share his feelings, worries, dreams, and insecurities. He doesn't feel the need to put up an intimidating front with her, and in return, Kari coaxes him into opening up more and more so that she can gain more info on the "target." She even talks him into following his dreams of becoming a full-time, lifelong florist.

Thus, Kris mistakenly believes that Kari likes him. After all, it's glaringly obvious considering the amount of special attention she bestows on him and no other. When Kris asks Kari out, she thinks it's just a ruse to get her to show him her weakness, but she agrees under the excuse that it's a means for her to find his. Of course, sleeping with the enemy sounds like a good idea in theory, but Kari has no idea what to do once she starts to actually get attached. And it doesn't take long for teenage hormones to take over and for Kari to actually develop feelings for KRis, much to her dismay. She's eventually left with no option but to live with the fact that she's fallen in love with her arch rival–and hopefully someday figure out a way to convince the Lone Liquorice to team up with Rolly Ppu Ppu Mahou Kyandii-chan and fight the forces of candy evil together. She finally starts to treat Kris with the genuine love and care that he feels for her, and ~the rest is history.~

( how did you find out about this job? ) : While chasing down an evil villain the other night, I was smacked in the face by a flier! It said this place was hiring... I think it's a sign.

( why do you need this job? ) : Because it's the perfect job for a magical girl like me to begin her ordinary everyday secret other life! And AKB48 wouldn't take me after the psych eval... But if I can't be a pop star by day, I can be a maid! (⌒▽⌒)☆

( how do you feel about dressing up in costumes and themed events? ) : I practically live in my Rolly Ppu Ppu Mahou Kyandii-chan uniform. I don't mind. (｀・ω・´)”

( how would you deal with a customer who was trying to harass you? ) : I always wear my handy-dandy utility belt underneath my clothes, so I would just pull out one of my lollipop blow darts and tranquilize the foul villain!

( of all the other workers, who do you get along best with? ) : The Moe Blob is so kawaii I can't help but drool whenever she's around. I heard that she can her elbow, too! I think she'd be a great partner in fighting for candy and justice!

( and who do you not get along with? ) : The Ice Princess is so rude and bossy, and Rolly Ppu Ppu Mahou Kyandii-chan is pushed around by no one! Just between you and me, I think she threatens the sanctity of candy.

( what is your favourite manga and why? ) : Sailormoon is like my hero! "Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight" is like my life motto, but if I told you why, I'd have to kill you. ...Just kidding. (*≧▽≦)
