A Question To All Graphic/Poster Makers

How do you know which texture to use?

I'm horrible at blending in textures, so I want to know which textures people use to make their posters look so pretty. :)

Uh, for romantic and soft posters, I tend to use light posters. Bokeh textures are really good. ^^

For cute posters, I use the cute collages and stuff, XD

Also, I don't really 'blend' in textures. I usually use the overlay and screen modes.
