Freedom of Preference: About Sandara Park.

Mostly, I have kept quiet about the circulating Dara hate on the web, but for some reason it just calls to my attention so much these days. And I can't help but nurse this outburst of rage. Not because people hate on someone I like, more than that. It's just this growing ignorance of our society and how many people who dismisses the word hate and opt for another word, thinking that they're exercising their right to freedom of expression when in fact it's just wasting time and effort spewing words that instigate unnecessary word wars. For some reason, these people think disliking something makes them better in some ed up logic in their heads. And I have never been a person to wave around my IQ score but I am willing to divulge this if it ever comes to that. I like Sandara Park and if you think you are better than me just because you hate her or what she represents then I suggest you take it up with me and 146 IQ. Given that it is lower than I would have liked, much lower than my brothers but I am far from average and all this illogical reasoning to hate on Sandara makes me think that I could only hope you are, at least, of average intellect.

What is wrong with people, seriously? Twilight hate, Justin Beiber hate? Why do these people expend so much energy in stringing up words to bring other people down? We live in a free world or at least, everyone should aspire to live in one. So what the is up with this mentality? The "I am better than you because you have questionable taste." Well, , kid have you ever heard of the word "subjective" or "individuality?" If you have I suggest you go and buy yourself a dictionary read that word entry and try using it in context and maybe at some point I can accept your humanity. .

I am tired. Tired of all these "how is she part of 2ne1 when she's so ing talentless?" We can argue about the text book definition of talent:

Talent means the skill that someone has quite naturally to do something that is hard.

I, for one, think talent is overrated. Sure, in terms of any artistic endeavors, talent is a foundation and the existence of the "genius" can not be denied. But I think the people who are most admirable are the people who have an inch of talent who can expand this talent to full grown skill with hard work. To be honest, I do know that Dara lacks the awe inspiring voice that the other members have. She's weak and do you for some reason think that you're the only one who sees this? Do you know how many times she had been criticized for having a dream that she doesn't fit in? Do you think you have broken into this epiphany of "hey, she isn't as good as the others!" and you have arrived with some sort of breakthrough? Shall I enlighten you with the quotation that have eternally endeared this person to me?

I'm born without talent, I'm just working hard.

- Park Sandara, 2NE1 -

Sure, people who have talent are admirable. But a person who gives a limb to be the person they want to be is inspiring. So, she's pretty and charismatic. Why hold it against her for using whatever she has to achieve something? Isn't it human nature to play on our strength? The fact is what offends you is her success despite your opinion of her. She disproves your belief, your preference, your standard. But what makes you think your standard is something that the whole ing world needs to take into consideration?

The world is changing. Music is changing. Sandara "the fresh vocal" may not be what is currently "in," but obviously the Music Industry sees something in her. I didn't like her voice before, I do prefer Bom's in a lot of cases but I do now. I like her voice, it's not as impressive but it has a unique quality to it. I think the simplicity of it gives her vulnerability hence her effectivity in 'Ugly' or 'In the Club.' This is of course arguable, but that's only because we admit that preference is subjective.  But why go into trying to influence others to dislike? Or to stoke the flames of hate? Have you not heard of live and let live? Music is not about a hierarchy of who is better, it's about finding emphathic connection. I don't understand this need to impose your opinion on others.

I like Dara, more than just her voice, her personality but what she represents. That mediocrity is just a word and not a label. That if you work hard enough despite how many who tells you "you can't" you still can and you can keep on spewing hateful words but it's useless. Why not do something else? Something productive? Or is finding your own place in the world so ing daunting that you hate on those who have theirs?

That's it. This has been bugging me for days. Let's everything go with an exhale.

I agree with you ,talent is overrated. And id rather look up to someone like Dara bcoz she works hard to achieve her dreams. whatever or wherever status she's in right now , she deserve it no one has right to question , how or why she's in that status/fame i can personally say it bcoz ive watched her even when she was just starting to dream to be someone here in the philippines.

Agree! This is what makes Dara my inspiration. As Papa YG said "she makes the impossible, possible". It really saddens me when I read hate comments about her and what saddened me more was when I heard that Dara, during the first few months after their debut, was affected by all those hate.
