&[something related to wolves here]he's heard it all, honestly. it's more of a fan thing than a band thing, because ha ha he gets it he's read harry potter before, but after six years of it you'd think that they'd putter out.
&maederivative of his name, usually used just by his family. sometimes the band uses it, but usually when everyone's just real drunk and affectionate, because there's no other way they'd be getting out of that encounter without mason's unimpressed staredown.

appearancehe's undeniably young, hesitant to smile in front of strangers. hair fashionably mussed up, round cheeks and full lips that frown more than anything, but it's breathtaking when he decides to grace others with a smile. he knows what people think of his brother, in his dorky glasses and hand-me-down denims; he dresses himself in slim dark jeans and sneakers kept carefully clean, shirts with long sleeves and wide collars that drape just above his thighs. accessorizes with various hats and rings. nervous eyes, subdued but dark and wide, that flit back and forth between quick dialogue, like he's deciding where to step in and make his presence known.

and laterwashed out, colors bleached out of his skin. clothes rumpled, expensive shoes muddied, lower lip worried to the point where it bleeds. high cheekbones, sunken cheeks—don't you think he's lost a bit of weight recently? his hair's cropped close to his skull, exposing his forehead he used to be so self-conscious about. everyone knows that it's harder to grab short hair in a fistfight.
basics
basics
beginningscautious, precise, empathetic.
takes too much time going over the same melody over and over again, if only because he wants to do his best. practice makes perfect, after all. doesn't want to be the kid that hides behind his older brother, but he's always been the less energetic one out of the two of them. looks at other people suspiciously when they get too close, but tries too hard to gain social approval. the one most often dragged into the shenanigans of his bandmates instead of leading them, if only because he has some common sense in his body.

presentlynegligent, unstable, assertive.
his blood itches beneath his skin. more confident in his abiility to play, more opportunities for him to scroll through his feed while they're practicing. has the urges to take his guitar and slam it into someone's face, hear the bone crunch and the satisfying thwack beneath the pickups. a little manic, has the tendency to speed up while he's blurting out whatever words come to his mind. raises his voice all too often if you're the unlucky bastard that grates on his nerves.

instrumentelectric guitar.
experiencehis father taught him the rudimentary skills with acoustic as a child, but he's always been taken in by heart-thumping solo sequences, and turned to electric as soon as he could get his parents to fold to his begging for one of his own. since then, after school let out and before working on homework he'd sit in his room and carefully tune, running his pick over the strings almost religiously as he relaxes into it.

inspirationhonestly... it's just his middle name... it sounded outlandish enough to qualify as a persona and at the same time was a perfect option as opposed to everyone sitting around trying to come up with names for him that didn't stick, because he's not really the most imaginative out of the bunch. guess he'll just have to deal with all the dog jokes. this is fine.

interactionsshies away from cameras flashing, despite him having the flashiest role in the group. little to no speaking parts in interviews, and yet has one of the more prominent fan bases within the group. absolutely hates it. his meet n' greet lines never end; thinks this isn't what he signed up for when he agreed to be a part of a band in high school. outspoken, but only on social media, and never really understands how much of a public presence he has until his drunk tweets about social injustice features on almost every single pop culture site.

didn't understand in high school that fame meant triple checking the locks on his doors and throwing away any mail addressed to him that wasn't from family, lest he gets gifted more period . post-2020 he's now more proactive with shoving cameras out of his face, warnings given through clenched teeth, and throwing explicit swears at fans harassing him for a conversation when he's not in the mood for one.

scheduleregardless of what era it is, he does his best to wake up early and start the morning right, even if it does get harder later on. putters around in his pajamas with the television on and carrying breakfast. attends practice if there is one, but otherwise balances his time between working out in the comforts of the apartment or going out with the others, if they've made plans for the day. never goes anywhere by himself, especially after 2023. less of a chance of getting involved in battery and assault if his bandmates are with him.

trivia
&fully aware what the media thinks of them on any given day; he spends a lot of time on both instagram and twitter to not give notice.
&really does tweet a lot about social issues and raising awareness. it helps that he cares a lot less about being a "good" figurehead for the band in the media.
&doesn't post anything on sns that would let fans clue in on where they are. does post his inane thoughts on issues, trivial or otherwise.
&entirely aware of the bassist petitions pre-2022 and was absolutely livid over it. one of the key events in his career that's made him more volatile and vitriolic towards "fans."
&prefers pop rock and alternative rock to classic, if only because all the foreign songs that he's heard are a little too slow for his tastes.
&in all honesty kind of pities edison. if he dresses differently from his brother because he's heard what they've said about him, does that make him a coward? admires his optimism in the same breath; he's mason's anchor. only joined the band because edison was joining.

musingsmason, in my opinion, was very much like a naive kid when the band initially began. wary of new people, distrustful, yet very keen on fitting in and isolating himself from things society frowns at. his decision to pick electric guitar is not unintentional; electric is one of the instruments that can be considered the flashiest aspects of a band??? there's a juxtaposition between him shying away from speaking in interviews and absolutely loving the spotlight on him when he's performing, but then again, you can argue that his persona onstage is a lot more confident, a lot braver, than how he is off of it.

when the band members start collectively falling apart years later, mason is obviously unhinged. it's a collective effort of his brother's sudden stoic behavior, his gradual lack of caring for the music he performs, and the absolute absence of privacy (which, for a person who valued his privacy, hit him hard). he assumes that he's more confident and outgoing, which he is, compared to how meek he was at the beginning, but he doesn't realize how short his patience has become, either. thinks that he's better off now than he was before. blames his unhappiness on other people.
