APPEARANCE despite standing at only 5'2", krysti stands out more than expected. krysti immediately brightens up any room she walks into with her signature beam. her hair, after a notable failed experiment with pink box dye, has recently been cropped to her shoulders. it tends to be pulled back into a half-up, half-down style or double braids. in either case, krysti's known for her cute features and infectious laughter, always tinged with the lemon-lavender perfume her mom gifted her last christmas.
STYLE her wardrobe consists of girly, flowy clothes. most of her wardrobe consists of floral print sundresses, but she can also be found wearing ruched crop tops with shorts. on colder days, krysti's usually drowning in a sweater (whether it's actually hers or aiden's doesn't matter anymore). she accessorizes her outfits with dainty gold jewelry.

first impressions of krysti always run along with synonyms of airheaded and childish. these impressions aren't too far off base — she's comprised of 40% squeaky laughter, and her humor is... interesting, to say the least — but these reductions irk krysti to no end. while she is outgoing, optimistic, and a little ("a lot," juno asserts) gullible, she hates the way others treat her as a result. krysti finds herself on unequal playing grounds far too often. she is personable — the type to go out of her way to greet a passing acquaintance with a bright smile and upbeat pleasantries — yet there's a part of her that's scared of being hated by that same acquaintance for stepping outside what's expected of her and asserting her emotional agenda.
so krysti might be a bit of a pushover, but she's got other concerns anyway. her dad's 55th birthday is coming up and she needs to scour the internet for the present, she wants a little this coming semester, and she has 3 papers to edit and send back to synapse writers in two days. the problem of her treatment is only an issue when she sets aside the time to dwell on it; she rarely does.
BACKGROUND growing up as the youngest daughter of an affluent family in san francisco, krysti never had much trouble navigating the world. although her parents coddled her a bit too much, they encouraged her to follow her passions. she eventually ends up following her older sister to ucsf, their father's alma mater. there, krysti intends on following her father's footsteps by studying chemistry on the pre-med track.
perhaps it's the excitement of university, the freedom of being outside her parents' range of sight, or the novelty of it all, but by the end of her first semester krysti finds herself in a relationship with someone who deems himself "out of her league" before they even begin. it's a whirlwind that ends as quickly as it begins. she begins rebuilding herself that summer by prioritizing her academics, writing for the school newspaper, and later rushing a sorority to discover a supportive network. nevertheless, the consequences of this relationship never completely leave her.
TRIVIA
🐬 speaks entirely in exclamation points. very bouncy tone of voice! goes "wow! that's so coool!" often — and she does mean it.
🐬 texts in all lower case. she tends to send multiple messages at once with at least one fully formed thought per text (much unlike her boyfriend). uses a lot of emoticons like :) and <3 as well as exclamation points when texting.
🐬 her room is pretty messy. clothes are strewn all over her bed on a regular day, but she's been trying much harder to clean up after herself nowadays and follows her roommate's cleaning schedule to a t.
🐬 thinks that ketchup packets are funny and busts into laughter every time she sees one. she can't explain why, but they make her laugh a lot!
🐬 really nice when talking to writers about their work even if she thinks it's terrible. she's the type to compliment even the most minute details to cushion her criticisms.
🐬 either replies to texts right away or a month down the line. she usually sees the message, but if it's something that requires thought outside of her current mental capacity she'll usually put it off until a later date. that later date ends up on the back burner and buried under other message notifications, so krysti's become infamous for how difficult she is to contact.

🐬 she used to be an emt her sophomore year but took a break since she had so much on her plate. she wants to pick up shifts again once she gets into the swing of the semester, but with her new position on synapse she's not sure how quickly she'll be able to return to that position.
🐬 has a tolerance. it's probably due to her small stature, but krysti's gone after 3 drinks. she's pretty good at controlling herself — she's not keen on throwing up all over her friends — and gets pretty bad asian glow when she drinks. she's also a giggly drunk, but it's hard to discern that when she laughs at nearly everything in her periphery when sober.

COLLEGE LIFE
extracurriculars 🐬
while krysti frequents a number of clubs, she's a dedicated member of very few. most notably, she's recently been promoted to opinion editor of synapse, ucsf's student newspaper. the position is paid and she works with freelance writers and correspondents to produce op-eds. she's also committed to her asian interest sorority, alpha beta gamma (abg), and attends all of their events. while she doesn't have a little at the moment, she's hopeful for one this fall to pay forward a relationship similar to the one she has with her big. in her free time, krysti drops by kasa events to chat with her friends and steal some food. in the past few months, kasa members have noted that she doesn't stop by nearly as often — she's usually found waiting outside sf9 practices instead.
student life 🐬
although krysti's a good student, her gpa is still recovering from her freshman spring. she works harder than most to make up that difference as a result: her gradebook has reflected that with consistent a's throughout her sophomore year. while she's not the type of student to show up to every lecture (it's because they're huge and not because she sleeps in), krysti befriends professors and tas with ease by frequenting office hours with well-prepared questions.
outside of class, krysti's usually found situated in corners of academic buildings typing away at her macbook air. whether it be a new synapse article or an anthro paper she was just reminded was due in two days, it's best not to disturb krysti when her eyebrows are scrunched together like that.
living arrangements 🐬
krysti current lives in an two-bedroom off-campus apartment with a close friend, victoria "tori" song. the two of them share one bathroom and krysti really enjoys living with her! the apartment is about an 8 minute walk from campus, so krysti's usually caught sprinting out of the building 5 minutes before class starts. at home, she just studies or spends time watching movies with tori and other friends. she'll invite a handful of sisters over every now and then to have wine nights, but nights like those are often planned on the fly.

krysti jolts at the sudden voice, turning to see leo park towering over her, a video camera in hand.
"oh, hi leo!" krysti exclaims. "good morning!"
leo returns the pleasantries with a wide grin — too wide for any other person at 9:30 on a monday morning — but just friendly enough for krysti to return it. the camera's at least one foot above her head. she has to strain her neck a bit to look up and throw a quick peace sign in time with leo.
"where are you headed right now? juno's?"
"yep!" she says, popping the p, "juno promised me a free drink today! and i think her manager's out for the morning."
"ooh, so what're you gonna get?"
krysti taps her chin with her finger in thought. "probably just the usual? ah, it's a-"
"it's a grande matcha latte with light ice, an extra scoop of matcha, two pumps of chai, and vanilla sweet cream cold foam, we know." leo speaks directly to the camera. she giggles at his tone, wrinkling her nose at the fast spread of her usual order throughout the group.
when leo looks back down at her, he has a glimmer in his eye. he wants something more.
"do you want to pick it today then?" she suggests before he can get a word in, "we can do a whole bit with it again!"
leo laughs loudly, his free hand coming down to ruffle krysti's hair. "you know me too well, kiddo."

after watching her friendly relationship with juno on a usual run to starbucks, leo was quick to jump at the chance to befriend krysti jung. he invites her to a party that night (juno rejects the idea, krysti says yes anyway), and the rest is history.
one-on-one, leo and krysti aren't close. he knows more about her through aiden; she knows more about him through juno. and although they work off one another in party settings, leo's tendency to pat her on the head and call her cute have begun to get on her nerves.

as one of her most frequent and friendly customers, juno and krysti hit it off after juno slides krysti's order across the counter as soon as the latter placed her order. to krysti, it's surprising that anyone would remember and willingly make a "grande matcha latte with light ice, an extra scoop of matcha, two pumps of chai, and vanilla sweet cream cold foam," but juno turned out to be that person.
early morning conversations snowballed into an easy friendship that strengthened after krysti met leo and began hanging out with the entire friend group more.
krysti's one of the closest to juno — it's obvious in their interlocked arms and juno's mellowed demeanor around krysti. they spend nights in while leo goes out, sipping wine on krysti's couch and going on about their woes.
