A worldview is a broad perspective on life and the universe. It is indicative of a person’s philosophy. Although the distinction between philosophy and worldview is a bit fuzzy, it may be easier to relate the latter to your own life. You may not think that you hold some formal philosophy, but very likely, if asked, you could say a few things about your worldview—what you expect out of life and your assumptions about the world. In fact, the most important thing about this chapter is not the review of philosophies or the philosophers. What is most important is the idea that philosophy plays a role in all our lives.
