As Long As She’ll Have Me

It’s weird to think about wanting to love someone right now, considering how ed up things are globally with the coronavirus.

But imagine if I actually had someone I loved right now? It’s scary thinking about losing anyone I loved during this time.

We don’t know when we’ll take our last breath. It could be the coronavirus that gets you, or that mini-bus taxi that was driving like a jackass and didn’t see you walking along the pedestrian crossing at the wrong minute.

If 143 Bae were here right now, I certainly wouldn’t be drinking two glasses of white wine by myself, trying to shut my brain off for one blissful second during these troubling times.

Instead, we’d be drinking together while stuck indoors. Or I’d be sober and hugging her or doing anything I can to cheer her up or make her laugh.

And even though promises are futile to make, especially with a killer virus on the loose, I’d make them anyway to her. I’d at least promise to stay by her side for as long as I can.

As long as she’ll have me.
