Height and weight: 179cm, 53kg

Physique: Tall and lanky were the two words best used to describe Jingyi. He was always on the taller side and it didn't help that he doesn't easily gain weight. People often made fun of him for being thin and appearing like a stick. He doesn't mind not gaining weight though, since he loves eating. Jingyi is on the paler side, since he didn't really play outside much during his youth, though both his parents are pretty pale-skinned. He has thick lips, a feature he often uses to his advantages (no one can resist his pouts). Although he appears sporty and light on his feet, Jingyi doesn't have any muscle or body strength. He can run pretty fast though. A feature of his that he's very insecure of are his hands, which are boney, long, rough and calloused from years of playing guitar. He also has a long scar from the tip of his middle finger to his wrist on the back of his left hand, from an incident in his younger days. He doesn't like showing people his hands and he has tons of hand creams and lotions. He also has bad eyesight so he wears contact lenses, but when his face is bloated or his eyes are puffy, he wears his glasses.   

Style: Jingyi's choice of clothing is pretty laid-back. An oversized sweatshirt, black skinny jeans and either a pair of sneakers or combat boots are usually his go-to outfit whenever he needs to go out. He does dress up when the occasion calls for it. His go-to footwear are usually a pair of black Addidas Superstar or a pair of black Dr. Martens. He always carries a bag with him, either a backpack, or a bodybag. He doesn't wear a lot of accessories except for a watch on his left wrist and a bead bracelet on his right. His ears are also not pierced. Jingyi's color scheme is monochromatic, and is usually in shades of black, gray and white. He also dyes his hair but only in shades of brown, and always keeps his hair neat and short, to always look presentable, especially at work. He also prefers wearing shirts one or two sizes bigger to hide his skinny frame. He's a fan of tucking shirts. He's also a boxer shorts-type of person.

Tong Jingyi

Personality

Jingyi is what you'd call a people-pleaser. He's the type to always do what he knows would please the other person more. He always says the right things and does the right things, at least, according to what the other party wants. People often called him fake because of this, but Jingyi doesn't mind because everything he says and does, he means 100%. His passivity often leads to misunderstandings with other people which is why Jingyi doesn't have a lot of friends.

People are often saying bad things about Jingyi, from the way he talks, to his uality, his race, etc. He's learned, over the years, to ignore these people and just continue living the way he wants to live.

To people who don't know Jingyi well, he appears to be a confident, outspoken young man but that is actually just a persona Jingyi uses when interacting with people he doesn't know. In actuality, Jingyi's very insecure and shy, especially when alone. He's not one to initiate a conversation but he's always polite enough to not ignore someone talking to him. Being the people-pleaser that he is, he's always polite and pleasant to people, never raising his voice or doing anything he knows would bring discomfort to other people. Because of this part of his personality, people often took advantage of his kindness. It didn't help that Jingyi was very trusting, to the point that his close friends often told him he was the type to get swindled.

Jingyi often appears to be a leader, always being the one to do things such as order food, or carry bags when shopping. He's also very decisive and as such, would be the one to lead. In reality, Jingyi hates being the one to take the lead. He just does it because it's what people expects of him. Jingyi is more of a listener and a follower, preferring to let the other party take him along.

Although he doesn't express his emotions often, Jingyi's always a happy person, with a smile on his face. He loves making people laugh and is often equipped with really bad puns.

Jingyi's mind is messed up. He's not suicidal in any way, but he's the type to welcome death at any time. For example, while cooking, he'd stare at the knife and imagine cutting his wrists or stabbing himself, but he doesn't. For such a happy person, Jingyi's very dark. He's very pessimistic, always thinking of the worse case. He often gets lost in his thoughts. He always thinks that there's no reason for him to be sad, which is why he shouldn't be sad, but he's often down, for no reason.

To his close friends, Jingyi's a loud, green-minded lazy-. He's a couch potato who only leaves when someone offers to pay for him. He's a cheapskate, but he always splurges for his hobbies and for the person in a relationship with him. He doesn't mind treating someone else, though and he's not the type to make someone pay their debt to him.

An impatient, slightly tempermental human being who loves cats and dogs and is not very comfortable with skinship, that is Jingyi. He knows he's impatient and gets irritated easily but if you ask him what's wrong, he won't be able to answer because he doesn't know why. 

Jingyi's not very open about his family and his life before coming to Korea. He does answer when asked, however, people wouldn't know whether he was telling the truth or not because he often answers in a kidding matter, with a smile on his face and a slight laugh. Jingyi's very private about his life because it's a part of him that he's not very proud of. The only person he had told his past about was his partner of 2 years (the one who breaks his heart).

Background

Born to very traditional Chinese parents, Jingyi was raised in a very traditional and strict household where the father's word is final. Growing up, Jingyi had to learn the piano, takes lessons in English, attend cram schools and always place in the top ranks in school during exams. He had to be part of a good club, had to be a member of the student council, had to volunteer in a shelter during the weekends, all to make sure his resume was clean and perfect.

During his childhood, Jingyi never felt like he was loved by his parents who seemed to only care that he produced good results. As such, at the age of 15, Jingyi first rebelled against his parents where he dated someone much older than him who taught him to drink and smoke. He ran away from home and lived with his lover who was 5 years older. At first, everything was okay, but then, his lover started to drink and abuse him, almost him at one point. He resisted and his lover cut his hand with a knife, which resulted in the scar on his left hand. It was then that his parents found him and took him home.

Instead of being comforted, his father beat him up for being stupid and reckless and locked him up in his room for a month. His mother was the first one to actually talk to him, wanting to understand what he was thinking. He confessed to his mother how he felt so much pressure from everything they expected of him, how he smoked and drank and how he was almost by his lover. This was also the first time Jingyi openly told his mother that he was gay and that his lover was a man. Jingyi's mother was surprised and although it took a while, she accepted him and told him that she supported him. His father, however, was a different story. When Jingyi was caught kissing another male student at school one day, his father confronted him and he was forced to come out to his father and although his mother tried to help him, his father raised his hand on Jingyi to "cure" him of his "sickness."

This goes on for two years until finally, Jingyi realizes he has had enough. He begins planning for a way for him to escape his father and leave. He starts doing small part-time jobs and saves money. He also starts applying for scholarships to university. It was then that he met a Korean professor at one of the universities he applied at. He becomes close with the professor who tells him of a scholarship at Kyunghee University he could apply for and that he'd be willing to allow Jingyi to live with him while going to school.

Thinking that things were finally looking up for him, he applies for the scholarship, gets accepted, and without a word to his father and a simple letter to his mother, he packs his bag and flies to Korea with the professor.

Jingyi and the professor begin a relationship shortly after his arrival at Seoul, and being the only person he knew in an unknown city, Jingyi was very dependent on the professor which in turn, became a switch for the professor to become possessive of Jingyi, to the point where he'd get jealous of Jingyi's friends and would start harassing him. This lasts for a few months until Jingyi breaks up with him and leaves. From then on, he starts going from one lover to the next, from one house to the next.

When Jingyi turned 20, he met him, the man who'd become his longest relationship. He thought he'd grow old with him, although he was, for lack of a better word, mooching off of Jingyi who was then, training in LUSH. The two of them, during their first anniversary, decided to buy an apartment for them to live together, and although Jingyi paid for most of it, because he was a foreigner and because, for some reason, the realtor didn't allow foreigners to buy apartments, the unit was named to his lover, which he didn't really mind.

It wasn't until a year later that he found out that his lover was cheating on him, for the whole duration of their relationship and that he was actually never attracted to men and that the only reason he got into a relationship with Jingyi was because of his money. The woman was now pregnant and with no way to claim for the money he paid and the right to the apartment, Jingyi gets thrown out.

With barely enough money to sustain his daily needs, he ends up temporarily living in a friend's house until he saves enough to find a place for him to rent.

Tong Jingyi

Relationships

Tong Boran - 60 years old. Jingyi's father who owns a pharmacy. Jingyi was never in good terms with his father, often being scared in the presence of the older man. Boran also never had affection for his son and would discipline him whenever he acted out of line. When Jingyi left home, he made no effort to contact him or look for him.

Li Jiahua - 57 years old. Jingyi's mother and a housewife. Although it was only during the later part of his life in their home, Jingyi was close with his mother who became the one person he could talk to about anything. She was the only person he told he was leaving and where he was going. They still keep in contact and Jingyi would often call her to update her on how he's doing and she would often scold her son in a loving manner on how he had the worst taste in lovers. He visited her secretly twice since leaving China.

Huang Yubi - 23 years old. Jingyi's same aged friend who lives in Beijing and is the only one of his friends who knows where he is and why he left. Yubi is Jingyi's closest friend and she was the one who often comforted him when was beaten up by his father. Yubi is also the first person who he talked to about his uality and is the first person who accepted him for what he was. Like Jingyi's mother, Yubi often scolded Jingyi on his poor taste in men and would often tell him about people she meets who she wants Jingyi to meet and date.

Li Huayi - 26 years old. Jingyi's close friend and fellow scholarship student. They met on the first day of class and right then, became good friends because they were both Chinese. Huayi had, for a while, romantic feelings for Jingyi before he comes out to her. Although shocked, Huayi accepts it and they'd ofted joke about how she used to have feelings for him.

Liu Xiaoming - 25 years old. Jingyi's close friend and Huayi's boyfriend. Xiaoming was also a Chinese student but unlike Jingyi and Huayi, he wasn't a scholarship student. It was through Jingyi that he met Huayi and fell in love with her before they started dating. Jingyi lived with Xiaoming for a while before finding a place to rent.

Han Jinwoo - 28 years old. Jingyi's close friend and the senior area supervisor at LUSH training him. They often jokingly flirt with each other at work, in good intentions.

Kwon Ilwoo - 32 years old. Jingyi's ex boyfriend and the only one he still contacts. Although their relationship was short, they parted ways in good terms and often still meet up to hang out. They met when Jingyi just broke up with the professor. Jingyi often tells him that he was the best lover he ever had.

Ryu Saeyoung - 20 years old. Jingyi's friend and co-worked at LUSH. Saeyoung was closeted and Jingyi is the only one who knows he's gay. He often consults Jingyi on things such as love and boyfriends.

- Although he had a phase, Jingyi no longer smokes or drinks. He doesn't mind people who do though, and actually find people who smoke very attractive though he doesn't tolerate excessive smoking and drinking.

- He loves dogs and cats very much but can't take a pet because he knows he can't take care of it (when he can barely take care of himself).

- He's an avid gamer and he always carries his PS VITA and 3DS with him when he leaves. He plays PS4 at home.

- He is a cheapskate but splurges on his hobbies.

- He has saved quite a sum of money after the whole boyfriend fiasco so he's not struggling financially. 

- He's still on his scholarship in Kyunghee.

- He took up some classes in architecture and interior designing.

- He gets sick pretty easily, he gets a cold during the changing of seasons.

- He's left-handed.

- He enjoys drawing and has tons of sketchbooks.

- He is fluent in Chinese and standard Korean but can't understand dialects. 

- He speaks in a lightly accented way when talking in Korean.

Tong Jingyi

Typical Schedule

The first thing Jingyi does when he wakes up is check his social media accounts for any of the latest news. An early riser, he wakes up at 6AM and surfs the internet for 30 minutes before he gets up to make himself a cup of coffee and a bowl of cereal. When he finishes his meal, he starts getting ready for the day.

The first place Jingyi goes to is the LUSH branch in Myeongdong where he's currently training as a Junior Area Supervisor. This is where he gets his income to support himself. He stays at the store until lunch before he leaves to attend his classes at Kyunghee, being a graduating student majoring in business administration with a minor in Chinese language. He attends classes for four hours before returning to LUSH and stays there until 10PM.

When he gets home, the first thing Jingyi does is cook himself dinner which he eats while playing video games or watching television. He ends his day at 2AM, when he finally sleeps.

Jingyi doesn't use a bed, instead, he uses a mattress on the floor. The overall theme of his apartment is white with wooden accents. He's always loved the look and feel of a house with white walls and white furniture. He doesn't have a lot of things, except for the basics and his bedroom only has his mattress-bed, a bookshelf, and his closet. The kitchen is more decorated since he has always loved the kitchen and because he loves to cook. Beside the kitchen is a small table where he eats. The common area has a couch, a bookshelf and the TV where he plays video games. He also does his school work in the common area. The bathroom has all the basics and he uses a vinyl shower curtain. On the wall in his room is a sort-of shelf decoration where he keeps the things he needs to get ready such as his hairblower. All his furniture were bought at secondhand stores.

About Letalis

After the disaster of a break-up with his 2-year boyfriend who was cheating on him, Jingyi lived with Xiaoming for a time while saving up money to find a place to rent, after deciding that it was about time he looked for a place where he could live rather than live with whoever was his boyfriend at the time. Xiaoming and Huayi helped him with his furniture needs and Jinwoo lent him some money to pay for the downpayment for Letalis.

He found Letalis while looking for a cheap place to stay. He's always loved supernatural stuff so he didn't mind the rumours surrounding the place. The main thing which helped him decide was the cheap rent and the good status of the unit. After all, it was a lot better than having to live in a goshiwon.

Being the people-pleaser that he is, Jingyi is kind and polite to his neighbors, albeit a little distant. He always makes sure not to cause any disturbances. He's also the type to not complain even if his neighbor is being loud.

Lifestyle

Jingyi's not very good in cleaning though he always tries to maintain the cleanliness of his apartment. He makes sure his bins are empty, his laundry is taken care of and his pantry is always stocked. Even though he's not very good at housework, Jingyi is a very good cook and enjoys cooking. He doesn't eat out unless invited because he thinks that it's a waste of money. 

He's a nocturnal person which is why he's usually more active at night, since that is also the time he arrives from work or school. On his days off, Jingyi, unless invited out by a friend, usually stays home all day, wearing nothing but a t-shirt and his underwear, playing video games. He spends most of his time indoors.

Other Things

Jingyi, being the lazy- that he is, usually spends his time alone in his home. Although he does enjoy the company of others, he'd very much prefer staying at home to play video games or watch his shows. He rarely welcomes guests and seldomly invites his friends over since he doesn't have the space to entertain them and having to cook and clean for a group of people is tiring.

He does enjoy the supernatural and is very interested in it. He's read everything from occultists to conspiracy theorists and ghost hunters. Because he believes in the after-life, he believes that people, when they die, before their energy is completely exhausted and they crossover to the other side, roam the world as spirits or ghosts. He hasn't seen one though and would really like to see one.
