— hyper & dumb: jungkyu can be summed up by being the energizer bunny in those battery commercials, but instead of ever shutting off, he is just always running? forever? Jungkyu just doesn't have an off button, and while some people find it annoying, his jyp mates all thank him for charging them up so much with his positive energy that just waves off of him. he needs to be doing something, anything with himself of he'll get restless and start trying to climb on aj's back or throwing all his weight onto jinseok (poor tiny leader uwu aka poor jungkyu because he gunna die from doing that). this boy is just hyped all day and it's a mystery where he gets all the energy from. that being said, jungkyu can be dumb aka thoughtless at times. he doesn't really pay attention to his surroundings and tends to just zone out so he is a danger to everyone in arms distance of him. he tends to not think what he says and ends up blurting out his thoughts (which is what got him on yg list oh no, I didn't mean it that way "the kind voice". please don't cry ;-;).

— playful & emotional: jungkyu does love making jokes and being playful to the other members. he just wants to see them smile and if tickling them out of nowhere is the only way to see it, then it's tickle attack time. his laugh is contagious and it just leaves an echo in the ears, like an earworm song. he's also super loud, like all the time. his voice doesn't have a volume lower than like 15 so rip everyone's ears. his dumb jokes and his meme dancing will get even the coldest to smile, but even if that doesn't work, jungkyu's million dollar eye smile will win them over. despite being such a lovable dork, jungkyu tends to be emotional when it comes to himself and others. he is obvious with how he is feeling and it isn't hard to notice the slight force behind his smiles. if someone gets scolded, kicked puppy jungkyu. if someone gets praised, beaming smile at everyone in the room, even old fart yg. it doesn't take long to cheer him up though, give him some attention and he charges right back up into his hyperactive self. hoenstly, jungkyu is just overdramatic most of the time.

— hardworking & forceful: while jungkyu can be dumb and hyper, he does take his practicing incredibly seriously. when it's time to actually buckle down and work, jungkyu does so. he understands there is a difference between work and free time, especially in such an intense competition. along with his hardworking nature, jungkyu can be quite forceful with others when he gets going and overlooks anyone elses opinions and talks over everyone even when they are trying to discuss a plan/performance. he just wants everyone to try hard and he just gets so excited that he tends to become over the top and ends up being overbearing at times. he just needs to learn to r e l a x and take a chill pill sometimes but he just gets so overexcited that he just reaches a breaking point. he really doesn't mean it and he feels incredibly sad afterwards when he realizes what he is doing.

— extrovert & friendly & impulsive: jungkyu wants to be friends with everyone!! He thought this was going to be a friendly competition but nooooo, instead, jungkyu needs to "stay away" from "yg" because he is "too friendly". jinseok plz just let jungkyu kill them with his beaming kindness. jungkyu is definitely the one people befriend first when they see the jyp members, as he is the friendliest and can keep the conversation going forever, even if it needs to die so the members can sleep. "please jungkyu, stop making up stupid raps with aj, we need SLEEP". he has never had trouble approaching others first and starting up conversations, it's just natural to him, even if the conversation somehow turns into "how would you survive the apocalypse with just a meat cleaver as your weapon". however, jungkyu can get impulsive, which ends badly about 90% of the time. he just doesn't think with his head and just jumps in. freestyle time? heck yeah jungkyu can do that, and then right when he steps up, he realizes that he had no freestyle, to begin with (and the starts just naming off random english words and everyone just collectively sighs aksdakn) please, jungkyu just needs to stop and think for one moment to ask himself if it really is worth doing it (but he would end up doing it anyway even if he thought about it because he is dumb). takes the risks that everyone else is too scared to take, but he goes about it in all the wrong ways.

— warm & overcritical & troublemaker: when it comes to someone people lean on, jungkyu is one of those people. now, he may be a dumb boy sometimes, but he cheers people up so much and just wants everyone to love themselves. he hypes his team so much and wants them to know they are L O V E D. he will hug the feeling in their arms out of them and even when they are wiggling to leave, he will cling to them like his life depends on it. this is why he is the fanservice master, as he just wants his fans to feel his love with his whole being so he will throw hearts and winks everywhere. while jungkyu can hype his team up so much and see that their mistakes don't define them, he's not too keen on doing that for himself. jungkyu is overcritical to himself and he can't stop thinking about the mistakes that he makes, but it does strive him to do better with himself and never settle for mediocracy. N O W, Jungkyu IS NOT the one who starts the trouble with others, he is just somehow roped in (aj makes a really compelling argument though). he just does stupid pranks on his teammates thinking they need a little cheer up or something, and most of the time it just backfires because, again, there are three brain cells in jyp and jinseok has them all. 

background

— his parents met when his mother went abroad to study in south korea as a university student, they met, fell in love, got married, had jungkyu, then got divorced. unlike most homes with divorced parents, they weren't constantly fighting or anything, just drifted apart, so jungkyu didn't have to deal with any of the negative that really comes with divorced parenting. everything is chill and he had a good childhood. middle school was taken in japan but that's really only because his mother thought it'd help him in the long run when he applied for colleges later in life, jungkyu's father is his primary caretaker so he lived in south korea most of his life, and barely knows any japanese ("sorry mom, I will continue studying")
 

always been attracted to music ever since he was young, and even got interested in rapping when he was around 11 due to epik high and crown j. this grew into him dipping into the dancing community, where he would go dance in the gym with his friends after school. well, they got kicked out from their usual spot and were doing some dancing at the mall that was close to the school, where jungkyu got scouted by a jyp recruiter. jungkyu was shook when they asked him if he would like to be in a company with 2PM and Suzy, and he almost broke his neck with how fast he was nodding his head.

these two are partners in crime you could say, stuck at the hip at almost all times, despite the age difference. jungkyu is no role model at all. aj tends to drag jungkyu into his little pranks that he likes to pull and jungkyu lets him because it's hilarious. some of their pranks include surprise scare attacks and embarrassing pictures taken at awkward times (mostly dumb stuff). jungkyu doesn't get aj's american jokes/english very well, but he just nods and pretends he understands everything. honestly, they just communicate in varying "yeets" and it has become their annoying thing™

jungkyu calls him "angle" as an inside joke of jungkyu not being able to differentiate his name and "angle". 1 dumb boy + another dumb boy = jinseok's worst nightmare. people think that having them together would be like having two brains, but they don't even make one. laugh at stupidiest stuff they find, like a picture of a weiner dog wearing a hot dog costume? like why?? if you hear laughing in the dorm, it's probably jungkyu and aj. there is a hyptothesis though? perhaps them being so dumb is actually just them running on no sleep? the world may never know.

jungkyu will protect minjun like his life depends on it, no one can hurt this soft beanie bby, not if jungkyu has anything to say about it! minjun tries to stop jungkyu from hurting others & himself with his flailing and excitement, and jungkyu just wants minjun to open up to the team more than he already has. jungkyu thinks minjun needs to push himself more so he can finally defeat golden star, and that's really the big conflict between them because jungkyu just goes off on his own to "fix" everything which in turn makes minjun mad . rip jungkyu, he was just trying to help this cute kicked puppy. stan minjun 2k18 you cowards.

jinseok is the teammate that jungkyu wants to make smile the most, as he doesn't do it often enough for jungkyu to be content. just accept his love, please. jinseok just wants jungkyu to stop C L I N G I N G  to him. jungkyu doesn't really get his "quick wit" humor which kind of comes off as mean which jungkyu is not really here for?? but jungkyu understands he means well. did once upon a time jungkyu have a slight crush on jinseok? perhaps, but he'll take that secret to his grave.

TRAINING LIFE

— jungkyu has been there since he was 17, and was scouted by a recruiter while dancing with some friends in the mall. it was an out-of-the-body experience for him. he wasn't a strong rapper when he first joined, but with help from other trainees, he managed to hone his rap ability to make himself main material. he has always been on the good side of all the trainees, as even when they wanna yell at jungkyu to shut up, they just can't bring themselves to. he's just too flipping happy.
