· jae : variations of jaeseon. others include seon, seonie, minjae.
· ghost boy : if he had a persona that he had to choose, he'd probably go with ghost boy. always a quiet observer and a bit of a wallflower, ghost boy suits him well.
past seasons jaeseon started playing lacrosse at a young age, around 7 or 8 years old. his father had played casually with him growing up, and the house was lined with his dad's old trophies and his parents' bedroom had his old jerseys on display. he started playing attacker, laughing as he tried to get past his dad. as he grew older, he took up a more defensive position, deciding that was how he wanted to contribute to his team. he participated in his local youth lacrosse team growing up and had a young love for the sport. he didn't find out that his dad was such a seasoned legacy at myeonghwa until his first year there, he only knew his dad was really, really good at lacrosse.
when jaeseon entered myeonghwa, he tried out for the lacrosse team. as somewhat of a legacy player, he wanted to do well as not to disappoint his father. he made it varsity during his first year, which surprised him pleasantly. to this day, he makes a lot of self-deprecating jokes, including the fact that he didn't expect to make it varsity because he thinks he's a bad player.
(not sure how many numbers the jerseys go up to, so if 73/74 is too high then 18 i guess ??) 73 is jaeseon's jersey number because it's the year his dad was born. 1973. when he entered myeonghwa, his dad suggested he take his old number, 24, but jaeseon didn't want that pressure to wear his dad's number. he still wanted something related to his dad, however, so ended up with 73.

reliable, patient, enthusiastic, hard-working, humble, private, perfectionist
let's just say that first impressions aren't jaeseon's strongest suit. at first glance, he looks a bit nerdy and he stumbles on his words a lot. imagine peoples' surprise when they see him on the field— word has gone around as the stellar lacrosse player and first in his year. people perceive him as quiet and intelligent, passing him off as another shy kid with no social skills. everybody's heard of him, the one who you can ask help for on homework and the kid who people are lucky to have when assigned teams during physical education.
welcome back.
the ones who really know jaeseon, though, tell a different story. his close circle of friends know him as the dorky friend who cracks bad jokes and somehow seems to have endless amounts of free time when he really doesn't. jaeseon with his friends is so much different than at school, and many would be surprised to see his real self. when around his amazing friends, jaeseon ends up coming off as more extroverted and yet reserved in his words. he's not good at putting himself first and tries to help everybody when he can.
· played the piano for 4 years before quitting during junior high. his extracurriculars made him stressed + busy, decided to focus on school and lacrosse.
· feels a lot of pressure to live up to his name, with a former varsity lacrosse captain as a dad.
· his traditional family sticks with the tradition of keeping the first syllable of a father's name to pass onto the children, hence his name (jaeseon). his parents joke that he was named this because he was jaesung's son, or jae's son (alternate pronunciation of jaeseon).
· when jv coach yoo found out that jaeseon's dad was former varsity captain min jaesung, he flipped out and has been nicer to jaeseon than usual. as yoo is an alumnus of myeonghwa, he's definitely heard of min jaesung.
· is actually very Soft
· everybody assumes he'll take up captain of varsity in his third year but he doesn't want to make predictions that might not come true
· the only lacrosse injury he's gotten was a sprained ankle, which resulted in being sat for a couple of weeks. nothing too major so far.
· can follow directions well so cooking's not that bad for him, but sometimes it'll go crazy and he won't know what to do with the food.
· has an old nureongi dog named cosmos. loves him to death and they have been together since jaeseon was in elementary school.
but his story starts far before that— let's back up. jaeseon grew up in a fairly calm environment, spending most of his life in the city of nam-gu, incheon, south korea. born to two loving middle class parents, the young jaeseon spent his early days starry eyed with love for his parents. elementary school led to the questions about the shiny trophys around his house and the jersey draped up in his parents' room. his father pulls him into his lap and his eyes light up as he tells his son about the past love of his life.
it's from that moment that jaeseon starts to fall in love. his father took him out on weekends to play casually, and the two would spend hours on end laughing and then cooling down underneath the shade. lacrosse is linked with happy memories for jaeseon. he never thought that he would join a team sport, given that he didn't like group projects at school either. but he pulls through, hoping to make his dad proud of him.
growing up, jaeseon had always been praised and complimented on his work and his effort. the kind words had made jaeseon happy, but also a bit worried. it wasn't like he was anything special, he was just another kid in the large school. he didn't have any special talents or a smart head, did he? that's what makes him so worried when he's accepted into myeonghwa high school on an academic scolarship. despite his studies, he tries out for the varsity lacrosse team— and makes it first year. half of him is relieved, and the other half is worried to death.
nowadays, jaeseon wakes up at around 6:00 and gets ready for school. his day consists of school and then practice, then going to cram school after lacrosse practice, eating dinner out and coming home at around 8 or nine pm. at that time, he studies and finishes off homework that he didn't get done during break at cram school. it's a busy day, but he likes having things to do. he sleeps at a different time each day but usually it's somewhere around 12-1 am.
on the other hand, jaeseon's mother is lee seongja. she is also a graduate of myeonghwa high, eventually becoming an english teacher at a publich high school in nam-gu. she is also a loving figure, more strict that jaeseon's dad. she encouraged him in his activities, and taught him the mantra "do it well or don't do it at all". she's taught him a lot about discipline and time management, and to this day jaeseon likes to write down his to-do list when he gets home for the day— a habit that had grown because of his mother.
when jaeseon was younger, his parents had him do math workbooks and academic things a couple grades higher than his age, to keep him ahead of his grade and above average in academics. he used to hate it, but it's paid off and shows in his work today.
but this turned out more Soft than i thought...hhH
