APPEARENCE & LOOKS: she had tanned skin during her years in sydney from surfing and being under the sun but because of the typical korean's skin, her skin gets whiter pretty fast. her skin is still considered tanner than the typical korean's skin color. she has visible dimples on both her cheeks. her body figure is a bit of a pear shape, a tiny waist, slightly bigger , thicker thighs and slightly wider hips than her shoulders. she used to have a very underweight body because of stress and depression but she returned back to a healthy weight. she has a number of piercings on each ear. on her left ear, she has three lobe earrings, two helix piercings, a conch piercing and a rook piercing, her right ear has three lobe piercings, a tragus piercing and a helix piercing. she also has a number of small tattoos. the first tattoo she got was her brother's name 'aiden kim' on her right pinkie finger, people can read it when she holds a mic. she got it on their birthday the year he passed away. she also has a camera tattoo on her right pointer finger (link). she recently got another one drawn on her left wrist and this time a cross, a semi-colon and the words 'it's okay' in hangul (link) because of her depression and her religion. she's planning on getting another on the back of her neck, a pisces constellation and fish, as another reminder of her brother (link)

BACKGROUND:
ardene was born in sydney, australia to korean parents. growing up, ardene loved the outdoors especially with a dad as a photographer. her father would take her and her twin brother with him on trips. they would go hiking, camping and fishing during the their summer breaks. ardene grew up pretty adventurous and boyish. still she never had taken a liking to insects though. she took up piano since she was four years old, her mother being a piano teacher. she enjoyed playing the piano and she started to love music since then. she knew of kpop from her mom's love for sechskies. sechskies was the very first kpop group that she learned to love, she even practiced all their dances by heart, not knowing she had the talent for dancing. she gradually started learning more about kpop and became a follower and fan. she basically became a kpop stan since she was young and that's one of the reasons why she's pretty knowledgeable when it comes to dancing kpop group dances. she also started to become interested in the korean culture and was ecstatic when her parents told her that they'll be celebrating christmas in seoul in 2009.

in 2010, she found out about the jyp global auditions in sydney and decided to try out. she actually didn't want to become an idol but she wanted to at least try if it is a possible path for her and surprisingly she made it through and managed to became a jyp trainee. (will you believe it that she auditioned with sechskies 'road fighter'? well she did). her parents didn't want to send her off to seoul since she was still very young, but ardene was persistant that she wanted to follow the path where she can enjoy music. with a very long discussion, her parents agreed and decided that she'll stay with her uncle first before moving into a dorm arranged by jyp entertainment. she enrolled at yongsan international school of seoul for her middle school and enrolled at school of performing arts in the department of practical dance for her high school.

early january 2016, her twin brother passed away because of a car accident back in sydney. jyp allowed her to fly back to sydney to mourn for her brother. when she got back to seoul, she was more distant and eventually was diagnosed with depression though she kept it a secret from the agency. she took anti-depressants and acted as  her usual outgoing self. all was good until she had a talk with jyp and he explained that he didn't want to let her talents to waste, but he straightforwardly told her that he won't be planning on a girl group anytime soon and that he recommends her to join big hit entertainment. that made ardene have bad blood with jyp. especially knowing that she just mourned for her brother's death and now he's telling her to move to another agency. really now. not wanting to be associated with jyp any further, she accepted the offer and became a big hit trainee, thinking that she won't be associated with jyp any more, but to her mistake, after debut, people would keep on mentioning it until she couldn't take it anymore, labeling her as the girl who missed the chance to be one of the nation's girl group.

💜 dance ; though she had zero skills in terms of dancing when she first started training, she quickly climbed up the chain as one of the best dancers amongst her peers. she had a natural talent for it, much to her surprise. with almost 8 years of training, her dancing is precise, powerful and has grace. she can do any type of dancing but is most confident executing powerful and strong choreographies. she also attended 1million dance classes to further her skills.
💜 choreography ; with her dance skills and extended knowledge in dancing due to attending 1million classes, she is able to create dance routines and choreography and is actually really good at it. she can create a routine on the spot with just her earphones and phone, just leave her for like 10 minutes and she'll have a routine ready to be executed. she takes opinions and criticisms really well when it comes to her choreographing skills and is open for suggestions to make them better.
